I have to first say I love this show. As a male, I have watched it since the 1960’s and seen many plots and characters comes and go. Some have played out for months and some wrap up faster.
This thing with Rafe at the wedding trying to stop it. Why in the world does he pussyfoot around and smugly says things rather than saying "Sammi here the proof of EJ kidnapping Sydney." Case closed.
But no they have to make a song and dance about it. I know it is for suspense or whatever and to drag it out a couple more days. If I found something incriminating I would be chomping at the bit to prove my theory immediately and not talk cryptically. I know the writers need to ratchet up the tension but come on guys, let’s write some of this like real people would deal with an unbelievable revelation of this nature. I know Sammi finds out Thursday I think, but gee, enough with the procrastination. Do the other soaps play out important plots at a snail’s pace too? Maybe that is why soaps are dying out left and right, too many talk and not enough action.

Maybe they have to sign a clause in their contracts that says they will not go bonkers if they have to repeat the same dialog over and over and over for months…
August 25, 2010 at 1:48 am #15733daysbrokenwingsParticipantthe writers have just gone over the top with the amount of time on JUST this storyline alone. If you notice Tuesday and Wednesday are usually just filler "days" anyway. Even Thursdays. I wouldn’t be surpised if they didn’t leave us hanging on Friday with it! Ugh.
August 25, 2010 at 12:08 pm #15739SWParticipanthe probably thinks this story is going at lightning speed. The story arcs lasted years and days on that show lasted months. I remember one actor saying that the pantsuit she had to wear could ‘stand up on it’s own’ it had gotten so dirty and smelly but they couldn’t wash it or it might change the dirt patterns on it or something like that. Gross!
August 25, 2010 at 1:19 pm #15743PattiParticipantbut I agree, on any given day it takes what seems like forever to finish a sentence on this show. Rafe let everyone in the room have their say for what seemed like more than half of yesterday’s show, and still hasn’t gotten the damn words out, or shown the tape, and we’re still not going to hear him say them today — simply more of the same annoying screaming Sami and E.J. Every storyline has the same problem and that’s just annoying. Those stupid frozen stares before they go to a new character(s) scene or right before going to a commercial are also ridiculous. Now I will say, that is done on all soaps and it’s always been something that bugs the hell out of me and for which I still, after all my years of watching soaps, will never understand why they do it. All it does is frustrate me as a fan, because you’re expecting a response and all you get is a stupid look on someone’s face for at least 10 seconds or more, then it’s on to a commercial break or the next scene. If you put them all together, by the end of the show they’ve probably eaten up a good 5 minutes with boring, blank stares.
August 25, 2010 at 4:26 pm #15746SWParticipantit was Peter Bergman (Jack Abbot on Y&R) and he said he’d gotten so annoyed with having to wait the beat, he’d do something like smirk, laugh or turn around. So I’m guessing it’s as annoying to them as it is to us. It makes them look like they forgot their lines or something.
August 25, 2010 at 6:53 pm #1575153tdogsParticipanta Dr. Drake Ramorae on "Days" and he was practicing his scene on Day’s and he said the scene was played with a "stop and smell the f-rt" pause and face that the actors did…it was hysterical! And every time I see "Day’s" folks do that I laugh and laugh!
August 25, 2010 at 8:52 pm #15753drea4713ParticipantTrying to get EJ to lie some more, which he did, and show Sami he hasn’t changed at all. I think he really wanted EJ’s foot to be all the way down his throat before he delivered the goods. I thought it was slow when it started at the beginning of the week and I knew it wasn’t happening until Thursday, but I think it’s been written well.
August 25, 2010 at 10:16 pm #15754caseyParticipantwill be much greater on Sami, seeing how she has defended EJ throughout Rafe’s slow unraveling of the proof. Tomorrow, at last, it seems Sami will get the “piece de resistance” – the Stephano/EJ conversation. I’m actually looking forward to this and hope the payoff is worth it.
August 25, 2010 at 10:58 pm #1575653tdogsParticipantit that she will really get a clue? How many times has she thrown a temper-tantrum, ranted and raved and then she goes back to being "Sami"? I think (and I haven’t watched this week yet – I’m saving to watch all tomorrow morning), however, based on all your comments and knowing Sami’s history…she will do what she is famous for…
