What a girl! She has her baby a month early and it’s already a month old. I bet there’s a lot of mothers who would like to have accomplished such a feat. Not only that, he was all cleaned up and dried off. Cute baby though and they didn’t use the standard ol’ pillow baby.
Now, for the ick factor. IIRC (it’s been a reeeealy long time; 51 years in Dec.), when you have a baby, there’s lots of blood and amnio fluid and all that crap that falls out. Was she just sitting in it? Ewwwww… And I didn’t see anyone cut the cord. Maybe he’s going to be like Lucas, attached to his mommy for his whole life. I wonder when he’s going to start dating Sydney!
November 11, 2010 at 10:14 pm #18066annieoParticipantThe little bit I watched yesterday she hadn’t even mussed her makeup. At least today they had her looking a little more like she was working at birthing the kid. I don’t think I sweat quite that much with either of my kids, but they tried to make it a bit more realistic. Chubby little thing for being 4 weeks early, but that’s to be expected. I’m sure the budget doesn’t allow for a younger baby. And now everyone’s like "Aw, gee whiz, he’s so cute and (after all those weeks of stupid dialog), I’ve decided not to tell the big secret afterall."
November 11, 2010 at 10:17 pm #18067NoraParticipantLOL Bonbon, esp the comment about Lucas! But yeah that was quite a big early new born. I for one like the name Parker Jonas, we all know how she was holding her stomach all the time. Maybe the baby was bigger than normal. Just think if she carried it full term! LoL! Ouch! she was funny when she went into labor, she wanted it to be in the hospital, holding Daniel’s hand….and DRUGS!! haha.
November 11, 2010 at 10:42 pm #1806953tdogsParticipantSalem about telling (and you know they will) – what Stephanie already said was very "telling" and Mel can’t turn around in a small closet without being wishy-washy and changing her decisions.
As for Chloe and the blood and stuff…I kept thinking is Daniel sitting in it too? And her blue dress…ick! Cold and wet. And Melanie had those long purple sleeves that hung to her fingers…. The baby was really big in two scenes and when Phillip handed the baby back to Daniel, it was a little tiny bitty thing.
8 months old prem. baby’s I’ve heard sometimes have a more difficult time than younger premies…and how many days was it between Chloe sleeping with Phillip and Dan? Was that why the baby was premature? Or just because they had to have Mel deliver it to have her shut the heck up about it?
The way Melanie was first acting when she realized Chloe was in labor, I was waiting at first for Mel (super front of the class nurse) to say, "Oh Miss Chloe, Oh MISS Chloe, I dunno nothin’ ’bout birthin’ babies"…
And I don’t like the name Parker – all little kids get their name shortened pretty much on the play ground or later in life, Daniel – Dan, Melanie – Mel, Phillip – Phil, Margaret (Maggie) – Mag, Jennifer – Jen, Barbara – Babs, what’s it going to be with Parker – Park??? ;( bleah!
November 11, 2010 at 10:58 pm #18074trixiebeldenParticipanti always wonder about the afterbirth/ placenta, etc. when ladies give birth on tv; i can’t recall ever seeing a fictional show where it was addressed (at least, in non-medical shows).
on a slightly related note, when did stephanie and caroline find out it was philip that chloe slept with? i don’t get to watch very often, but a few weeks ago when i watched, stephanie did not know who the other man was, now today she is talking about it with caroline. (maybe i just missed that chloe had confided it at some point?)
November 11, 2010 at 11:00 pm #1807653tdogsParticipantI ff’d through 90% of Stephanie – I’m bound to miss something…
November 11, 2010 at 11:12 pm #18077PattiParticipantrequiring just one squeeze of suction to get him breathing, then here he comes, all clean and beautiful, wide eyed and bushy-tailed, with no signs of stress from the umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck, looking straight into his mommy’s eyes as if he could see her already, and ready to be changed into what should be at least a No. 2 Pamper and a size 12-month onesie. Way to go Chloe…who says all that stress wasn’t good for your pregnancy?
November 11, 2010 at 11:18 pm #1808053tdogsParticipantlittle fellow looks like she could have baked him for just three months and he would have come out the right size!
November 11, 2010 at 11:38 pm #18084BonbonParticipantI forgot who it was now (Carly) that Caroline overheard saying it was Philip. Now stop FFing and pay attention!!!
November 12, 2010 at 2:28 am #1809753tdogsParticipantsome of the drivel that some of the Salemites spout day after day after day after day…that’s why I depend on you folks at Salem Place to keep me in "the know" – so much easier (and better) to read your guysies witty banter than listen to Stephanie, Mel, Dan, Chloe or Sami drone on the same crappiola lines for months and months with no end.
November 12, 2010 at 4:26 am #18100DeeLanParticipantI don’t know about Caroline but Stephanie had broken into Chloe and Daniel’s apartment and was hiding in a closet when Chloe and Philip were discussing it. That’s how she found out there was a paternity test and what name Chloe had used.
November 12, 2010 at 4:28 pm #18108mommytutuParticipantbut you are so right. Babies on TV always come out so cleanly and mom’s are immediately glowing with everything perfect down there. My other gripe, women shown as having a perfectly normal conversation and then bursting into immediate hard labor ready to drop the baby now. What?! I had 3 and I always had some warning, contractions leading up to labor, not just nothing then hard labor. And I had two of them with short labors–3 and 4 hour labor. But I didn’t go from 0 to 60 in a second.
Also, why does everyone on this show, not know how to give birth in a hospital, birth center or anywhere with someone to attend their labor. It’s in a cabin, a wharehouse (Hope) or some other out of the way place. So glad I’ve had all my babies because if I thought labor and childbirth were going to be so traumatic, I never would have had any.
November 12, 2010 at 5:30 pm #18110DeeLanParticipantI remember when Marlena either had DJ or the twins she was at a gathering and was having contractions throughout but didn’t tell anybody. It was later when she had a contraction that wasn’t quite as subtle as they had been but NOTHING like the 0-60 you described that she decided she’d better go to the hospital. That was the last time someone had a baby in a hospital with what seemed like a normal progression to birth.
