I don’t see much panic/despair from Phil regarding his wife’s crisis. If I came in on this unaware that Mel is fighting for her life, I’d never guess from the way Phil is acting.

How the camera panned over to them three or four times? P&C will become an item I’m predicting and D&Cy will get together and then B&H will be back on track…Mel and Nath will become a couple too – but my question is…when they get all these "meant to be" couples together – what is on the horizon that is going to break them up to their normal musical couples again????

Of all the medicl shows (the real ones, not the dramas) I’ve watched on TV, you hardly ever see people react to bad news the way they do on Days. The typical responses are shock first, then worry. Our characters tend to cry before they’re hurt. My response to the virus situation would be concern for now. If they tell me there’s not much hope and they probably won’t make it, yes, then the tears come. But that’s not what the viewers want to see so they have to put all the drama in.
But then, I’m the eternal optimist and most people aren’t. Oh, well.

I think Molly did a good job with Melanie yesterday realizing what her mom was willing to go through to save her. I can’t help but think, as well, that Philip was just a little too calm for me as well. He seemed more interested in Chloe and Parker than he did in Melanie. Overreacting and screaming his head off would definitely not be acceptable, but he was a little too interested in taking care of Chloe and Parker if anything happened to Daniel than he was for Melanie, his wife. She’s not only ill, she’s dying, along with Nathan and now Carly. Right now this may just be my favorite story to watch, and Molly does a much better job in this story now that she is on death’s doorstep than she has ever done when she wasn’t. Hmmmmmm. Glad Stephanie told Philip that he was Parker’s bio-dad. Now that would have been something to jump up and down about, but he sort of ‘acted’ surprised, so now I’m wondering if he doesn’t subconsciously want it to be true. He’s sure to have some guilt complex lingering over Tyler (Pocket), so maybe he wants it to be true, regardless of the obvious outcome for all.
December 1, 2010 at 2:04 pm #18624caseyParticipantto at least see him looking through the glass, expressing his love to Mel. Phil has come across to me as somewhat detached, but that might just be my interpretation.
Since Phil has historically been a hothead with kneejerk reactions, I was just surprised he has been this laid back. But maybe Days is maturing him?December 1, 2010 at 2:04 pm #18625DeeLanParticipantWhen I worked in the hospital we had people of all types. Some were silent with their grief and some were screamers and swooners. Someone could be critical but not on death’s door and there were at least 50 family members screaming, carrying on and fainting all over the place and you could hear them coming before they even got off the elevator. It was noticed that this tended to go along with different ethnic groups. I guess it’s just the way you’re raised and what you saw all around you as you were growing up.

Philip: What can I say? I’m somewhere between scared to death and halfway to crazy.
Justin: Well, if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Philip: Thanks. Thanks. But all I can think about right now is Melanie. She’s my world… my life. She has to get through this.
