ParticipantOur show was pre-empted by the President today. I missed the middle. Guess I have to record it on SoapNet

ParticipantNBC is always preempting for breaking news something or another on my local channel, that I could have seen at 5:00 p.m. just as well.

ParticipantI like that he’s so visible. We have so much going on as a country. Usually, in times of distress, the leader is out and about reassuring the people not hiding behind closed doors. Like Haiti’s President Preval was accused of doing after the massive earthquake. To be honest, last Veterans Day Cheney was giving a speech at the Arlington Cemetery and it took me a while to figure out who he was. To me, he was so rarely seen.

Participantthe major cable system in the state, they always interrupted Days for anything (a truck driving down the highway the wrong way – you name it!) but once SoapNet became available it seemed like they stopped all the interruptions other than major news (maybe three times in the whole year). We have news available from 4:30 am to like 9, then from 12-1, again at 4 to 7, and finally 10-12 midnight! Isn’t that enough? Plus, when they interrupt and they don’t really know anything and are just guessing, it drives me crazy!

ParticipantI have Verizon FIOS which uses Direct TV’s signal. There’s been a scroll on our local NBC affiliate stating they are in negotiations with Direct TV and if an agreement isn’t reached by 12/31 we’ll be losing them. I’m so sick of big business!

Participantcling to the old news adage "if it bleeds, it leads", hence NBC will interupt for a cow herd crossing a street in Texas.

Participantthere are those who say they don’t see him enough. A can’t win situation.
