Did anyone watch this last night? Just another American Idol as I see it. And as much as I like(d) Paula Abdul, she’s just too, too sweet to everybody. They need someone like Simon Cowell that will tell it like it is.
January 5, 2011 at 6:07 pm #19747NoraParticipantI didnt watch it but I was going to ask if anyone did. SPEAKING of American Idol…..where are my watchers this year???? I’ll be watching again as I am every year. I’m addicted I admit it. it’s getting close! I know it wont be the same without Simon but I think it’s going to be alot better WITHOUT Ellen or whats her name. wonder how good Jaylo and Steven Tyler will be. at least they are musical. I know Kara was but she sucked.
January 5, 2011 at 11:00 pm #19753caseyParticipantbut it didn’t hold my interest. Some of the acts had so many participants I lost focus. It looks to me more like America’s Got Talent. The one other female judge was a milktoast bore.
Can’t hold a candle to So You Think You Can Dance.January 5, 2011 at 11:45 pm #1976153tdogsParticipantpeople who think they can sing), audition. That is fun. I predict though that Simon was the driving force and AI will not be on much longer, and with these additional judges on, I don’t think that there will be quite the "oooomph" that the show had in it’s heyday. I am looking forward to Simon’s new show – not sure what it was called or when it will be on, but I think that’s why he left to start up a new show and turn it into gold.
January 6, 2011 at 2:05 pm #19778caseyParticipantand will be very interested to see how the new judges roll. They sorely need some genuine critique – not just “That was hot, dog!” or “It was pitchy.” I’m hoping Tyler will put the hammer down when needed. I also hope Jen will be a pleasant surprise as I’m not expecting much from her.
Oh – and some knock your socks off talent would be good too! Last year was awful.January 6, 2011 at 2:16 pm #19779PattiParticipantYou’re right, Casey, it’s exactly like America’s Got Talent. Too many acts doing the same type of dance with too many dancers is not interesting to me either. They’re either trying to imitate Michael Jackson, or they’re doing gymnastic moves. Also, I can’t get interested in a show when the contestants range in age from two to toothless. God, I felt sorry for the girl who landed on her head the other night. That bump on her noggin’ looked serious. She had to have a concussion. Too bad, but I don’t see a future for this show where the judges are as boring as some of the contestants either. January 13, 2011 at 7:06 pm #2003753tdogsParticipantthese "new" judges, like you said, at least they are in the music business. I think I’d like to see more revolving guest host judges at least one or two every other week or so – after the initial cattle-call try outs, just so there is no pre-judging on who is the best before the end of the show. Adam, (what-ever his name was), was almost a sure winner it seemed by the judges – up to and including Simon, (and yes, he was talented), but the people voted and the other guy won that one year.
February 3, 2011 at 2:29 pm #20607caseyParticipantI haven’t heard one word about it, since early on when the hype was about going head to head with Idol. Anyone stay with it?

February 3, 2011 at 2:45 pm #20612BonbonParticipantand I’ll say for the ones to pick from to vote for, I’d be hard pressed to decide. Every single act was excellent (also very different from each other). I think the show has improved quite a bit since the first one but they don’t seem to have a regular schedule.
One thing I like about it is that the judges pick one act to move on and the viewing audience votes for the other one. Seems like a better way to go. And all three judges are experts in the dance area. In fact, they like to throw out technical names for dance moves. I guess to show us they really know what they’re talking about.
