So where does the story go now that apparently Johnny’s cancer has spread to his good eye? Will they try some new revolutionary treatment that med wizard Doc Dan will come up with?
Will they try an eye transplant? Is the technology here to do it?
Would they do a Johnny goes blind story? I think so young an actor wouldn’t be ready to carry this off.
What does everyone think? (I don’t want to see spoilers, just asking for speculation.)January 11, 2011 at 11:33 pm #19934annieoParticipantI’m not sure how to phrase my thoughts, but it seems like Days want to suspend reality for 95% of storylines, then they turn around a do a smack-you-in-the-face storyline about cancer in a small child. No middle ground for these writers. You’re either deliriously happy (NOT) or over the top sad.
January 12, 2011 at 1:28 am #1994053tdogsParticipantwoe…no happy endings in sight!
January 12, 2011 at 12:48 pm #19952BonbonParticipantI think they might be heading toward poor little Johnny’s demise. That was the first thing I thought of when Nicole discovered "the dot."
They didn’t hesitate to kill off Zack so they probably have no problems knocking off Johnny either. It’s the only way they’ll ever solve this horrible tug-of-war between Sami and EJ. They got some excellent acting when Zack died and I think they could do the same if Johnny goes.
On the other hand, I disagree with Patti that Johnny couldn’t pull off being totally blind. I think that’s one thing a little kid would enjoy doing, staggering around, bumping into things. I think he’d really get into that. The only thing is, I don’t think it could last very long.
But an eye transplant? No way. They can only repair a partially detached retina (and then it’s very iffy), there’s no way they could do an entire eye. And if they try to sell us that one, I’ll be very pissed off.
January 12, 2011 at 12:48 pm #19951PattiParticipantnormally I wouldn’t want Nikki within 2 feet of Sami’s children, regardless of what some think about Sami; but, yesterday, Nicole seemed genuinely interested and concerned for Johnny, spoke to him very lovingly, and I liked the way she played with him and tickled him so that he would look at her; but, again, not so sure whether she could have seen a tiny spec of white in his eye just by looking into it. Oh, well, Sami and E.J. are so absorbed in so many other other inconsequential things at present, they should both be kissing Nicole’s derriere if Johnny doesn’t lose his right eye by catching it so quickly.

I don’t recall saying that.
January 12, 2011 at 12:59 pm #19957SWParticipantso why not this?? A new bionic eye storyline with prison body parts? lol ::::shaking head::::: I don’t like this particular prison story or the Johnny one. I watch soaps for entertainment, not depression!
January 12, 2011 at 2:32 pm #19962caseyParticipantit would be unconscionable for me. We’ve already seen Zack and Grace die, and this would be far worse as this boy is so charismatic, and a character I love to watch. If these little boys can pull off the blind acting I’m all for it. I don’t think the Johnnys would have a problem bumping into things, but that blank focus might be an issue to maintain. Plus the twins wouldn’t be able to look offstage at line cues.
Is there maybe a possibility that these actors might be leaving the show and Days knows it’d be hard to replace them?
At any rate this storyline really angers me and if it leads to another child death shame shame shame on Ken Corday.January 12, 2011 at 2:43 pm #19964KseeParticipantI don’t think it would end the tug of war between them for they still have poor Sydney to fight over. And why in the heck did they not do any sort of Cemo for Johnny?
January 12, 2011 at 2:46 pm #19965caseyParticipantMaybe Days wants to kill off one of Sami’s kids so there’s room for one with Rafe? Ugh!
January 12, 2011 at 2:54 pm #19969BonbonParticipantI’m so used to disagreeing with you that I jumped to conclusions.
Sorry ’bout that.
January 12, 2011 at 4:59 pm #19976PattiParticipantJanuary 12, 2011 at 5:48 pm #19978layseaParticipantdo an eye transplant on Johnny. If Stefano is in the middle of the prison stuff (not sure just leaning that way) he will do what ever it takes to help Johnny. Can you give a little boy an adult organ? I just have a feeling that is the way this is going. I really don’t think they will kill off another child of Sami.
January 12, 2011 at 6:10 pm #1998053tdogsParticipantthey pulled off a "face-transplant" with no scars and perfect working dimples…a little eye transplant would be easy for them, especially, since they have the body part story line…and may I say, if the writer’s thought that far back in the story line about Johnny’s eye and this prison thing – well, then I have to give them credit….for being far more devious and questionable than I ever would have imagined in what they would write.
January 12, 2011 at 9:12 pm #19984PunkyParticipantis the perspective Matt Ashford would have on Johnny’s storyline. http://mashfordpage.com/ARTICLES/SOWOct02.html
I would love to see Jack come back.
