We all know he’s leaving the show, do any of you think maybe Melanie will have a miscarriage and he’ll decide that Chloe is too unstable to raise Parker, so he’ll take him and run off? That would be a way they could keep the character "on the run" and then bring him back when they have someone else to play Phillip or if JKJ decides to make a 3rd return to show.
January 27, 2011 at 3:51 am #20405majencoParticipantI hope they leave the door open for him to return. I really would like to avoid a recst like last time. I didn’t like the guy that replaced him.
January 27, 2011 at 4:11 am #2040653tdogsParticipanteither, but then I was used to "dimples" and very happy when he returned to the show.
January 27, 2011 at 3:32 pm #20413caseyParticipantDoes anyone know if the decision was Day’s or JJ’s? And when will he leave? Phil is smack in the middle of this babies storyline and being Mel’s hubby and Vic/Kate’s son I can’t imagine he wouldn’t be recast.
I have to believe his departure sets up Parker being Dan’s son afterall and that Mel will have a miscarriage.January 27, 2011 at 5:32 pm #20416PattiParticipanthis last tape date is February 3rd, so he will probably be on screen til’ late March, or early-April. They have not disclosed how he will be written out yet, though.
January 28, 2011 at 2:06 am #20434PunkyParticipantthe previous recast Philip was not good. JKJ IS Philip. I do hope he comes back. I am sure going to miss him. He has a such a smarmy confidence and does the role so well.
January 28, 2011 at 4:28 pm #20446justwonderingParticipantCan’t blame him– the goal of every daytime actor is to make it in nighttime tv or better movies. This is pilot season so he needs to try.He can always return.
Speaking of nighttime "Chelsea " was on House this week.
January 28, 2011 at 6:55 pm #2045053tdogsParticipantand looked the same didn’t she? If Jay left Days before to do that and came back, (either because he couldn’t find parts or whatever), why would it be any different now? More money? Fame? Lots and lots of starving actors out there…everyone in southern California is "actually an actor or actress", not what they are currently doing, making their money as waiters, he should have gotten a sure thing part, before leaving a paycheck and acting gig in these days and times.
More power to him, but he could have asked the PTB on the show to put him in a coma (I’m sure Mel would have complied by hitting him on the head) and they could have stuck him in a hospital bed with a non-speaking part for months and months, until he found out if he had a sure thing or not…if he got it, then the show could have killed him off or had him move to another facility to give better care, and then if he didn’t get it, he could have made a recovery. By that time Mel could have had his child, and divorced him.
January 28, 2011 at 10:07 pm #20453justwonderingParticipantMany of these actors have left to try their wings on nighttime TV nor movies and then returned: (am using character names)
1.Marlena
2. Roman
3. Hope
4.Chloe
5.Philip
6. Bo left but not sure if he had a tv gig
Bottom line is if they don’t leave, they will never know if they can make it. There are some who do make it and some who try and come back and some who never come back. For most people, they use a SOAP as a stepping stone, not the ultimate gig.
January 29, 2011 at 1:00 am #2045453tdogsParticipanta very long time. We don’t see those folks exactly burning up the silver screen when they leave. And not too many of the others either. I know everyone should try different things in life – but given the record of just how many become "big stars" as opposed to "working actors", seems that a bird in the hand…
January 29, 2011 at 1:19 am #20455SWParticipantstoryline was winding down so he felt it would be a good time to try and Stephanie said her’s was up and she never planned on staying past her original 4 year contract as she went from acting school/college to Days and she wants to try and see what else is out there. It also said that a lot of the pilots out there had parts for actors in their age bracket. I suspect that they also want to try other things before they end up getting married with kids when job security is a top priority.
January 29, 2011 at 1:27 am #20457kprstrsParticipantI seen the front of one of the soap mags in the check out, and it said 5 were leaving. Who are the others? Anyone know?
January 29, 2011 at 1:48 am #20459DeeLanParticipantAs far as I know…
Nathan
Stephanie
Phillip
Jane (Wardon)
Lee
January 29, 2011 at 1:58 am #20460kprstrsParticipantI knew about Nathan and had just forgotten. The Warden and Lee I had forgotten about, too. I guess I thought they would all be ‘important’ ones. Thanks for clearing it up! I appreciate it!
January 29, 2011 at 1:01 pm #20465SWParticipantTy Treadway. His along with the prison gang all were storyline dictated. Nathan was a let go. Stephanie and Phillip opted not to renew their contracts.
