I think it should have been renamed the "Adults Beer Party with Cake". It just seemed inappropriate that there was so much beer being consumed by the adults at what was supposed to be a children’s birthday party. Even Sami was drinking. The path to the frig was definitely busy today.
been hitting a few brews lately (and that was with the original Rafe as well as Rafe1.2)…but then at the DeMansion and the Kiriakis households, booze is running from the water taps it seems.
Maggie’s house is the only teatotaler, (because of her past), the Pub is the Pub with brewskis of course, Daniel and Chloe maybe since I don’t recall them hoisting a few and since no one else seems to have a home in Salem anymore…
alcohol consumption on the show. This was something they showed a lot of, years ago, but then they seemed to stop it for quite some time. Now it’s started up again. I think the drinking during the day is especially something we could do without. I mean, how many people walk in the door, go into the living room and pour themselves a drink? Only alcoholics. I’m not a teetotaler but I don’t think this sends a very good message to the viewers.
As far as the beer drinking at the b.day party, I think that’s pretty much the norm these days. It seems like that age group do much more beer drinking than us "older fokds" did. In fact, the thing that I can’t get over (and I know this is ridiculous) is watching a woman drink out of the bottle. It’s something women never did until about the 80s. I don’t know, it just looks kinda "butch" to me.
My Mom and Dad owned an "ice house/beer tavern" in the 1940s and 1950s. Let me assure you that all the women drank beer from the bottles even then. Things weren’t so "uptight" in those days about drinking in front of children, etc..–and we all grew up just fine and dandy. These days I’m sure I would be barred from even entering the place. However, those were some of the best folks I have ever known. I grew up there from age 8 until I married. I guess you could say they helped me grow up. Teasing me about my grades and then about my teen-age crushes. I miss them all.
well look who it is also, I mean Sami, and Nicole, EJ and "Rafe" all trying to be one big happy family? I’m sure Sami needed a drink to get through that party. Im not saying I like it. they do seem to head straight for the alcohol when they enter the living room, mainly Brady, Phillip, Kate, EJ, Nicole. and Stefano. and Victor of course.
It was a very poor excuse for a party to begin with, and all the beer drinking just made it seem worse. Sami may have forgotten to get the cake, but she did not forget to stock the frig with beer.
I just think it could have been a much better party all around if it had been more kid friendly. Yeah, I’m old and don’t drink; give me some iced sweet tea!!!

Agree. They could have had some cast and crew bring their little ones in as extras for a kid’s party
We lived in a really small town of about 100 people when I was growing up in the 50’s. It had not one, but TWO bars. The one was right across the street from us (our house was on a corner lot, the bar was on one corner, a mill on the other corner and a grocery on the other). After we came in the house in the evening (when the street lights came on), my sister and I would get our baths, put on our baby doll pjs, then go across the street to the bar for a nickel ice cream cone. Funny I don’t remember looking around to see if there were people drinking, I was just honed in on the ice cream! I was 10 when we moved to the country, so I was probably 6 or 7 when we were allowed to get ice cream.
in the 40s my grandpa owned a tavern also. It wasn’t a bar, it wasn’t anything else but a good ol’ tavern, with the potbelly stove in the middle, a big long bar that you stood at, no stools, and a piano player off to the side. Nobody (that I recall) drank out of bottles there, it was all tap beer in glasses. However, when I was in my 20s, 30s and 40s, I don’t remember girls drinking out of bottles at all. I guess I first noticed it in the late 70s and 80s.
I’m going to be 71 this year–Yikes. Maybe it has to do with the part of the country we are in. I’m in Houston, Texas—-That might explain all the gals back then drinking straight out of those long necks. My Dad’s place didn’t have any of the tap beer—all bottles for beer and sodas. (Remember that wonderful Grapette in those small bottles??) I remember they did have some plastic-type cups with beer logos on them and some of the gals did use those. And there was a real "ice house" outside that stored the blocks of ice. This was chipped up with those old style ice picks and used to keep all those bottles cold in big coolers. Gotta love the old days.
my friend and I were just talking about that the ohter day at walmart, she was saying how coke tasted better from the glass bottle, they had there for a while a liter in a glass bottle you had to use a bottle opener, i bought a couple of them and I thought they tasted better.
pack remind me of the old days and they are the perfect size, 12 oz is almost too much nowdays. It actually costs a bit more, but the taste is so much better! When they tried to change the Coke formula all those years ago, I about lost it – so glad they changed it back. We should do a survey on the Brady Pub site Pepsi, or Coke??? If I can’t have a Coke, it’s Dr. Pepper. I wouldn’t mind Day’s do product placement with the colas.

Many working peoples come home from work and have a cocktail or two before dinner. Just watched Royal Pains and the doctor on the show just did exactly the same thing. I don’t think that it makes them alcoholics, just thirsty.
As for the party Sydney is 2 so she has limited friends. Since johnny and Rafe just got home from the hospital, I think they wouldn’t want lots of people around, so family party makes sense. don’t nthink that it was out of line to have some beer.
