Why doesn’t Hope just TEXT Ciera and tell her they want her back and they are staying together?
April 15, 2011 at 8:20 pm #22880majencoParticipantGood question. Bo and Roman are cops and yet they are evaded by a couple of 5 year olds. Lame.
April 15, 2011 at 9:12 pm #22882PattiParticipantto "come home." What he should have said was tell us where you are and mommy and I will come and get you and Theo. Ciara told Theo they were far away and the truck left, so evidently they were not close by. Even so, who tells a 5-year old to walk home? I swear, if we could see the lightbulb over these writers’ heads, I’m sure it would be burned out.
April 15, 2011 at 9:26 pm #22883dvalParticipantOr at least a very low wattage. I sort of zoned out when he was leaving the message. I get bored sometimes, LOL. But when Ciera fell and hit her head I thought, oh no, not again. The poor children on this show. It seems the only way most of the parents can get along is if their child is in some sort of danger anymore, LOL. and now I’m waiting for Hope to snap after seeing the previews where Bo tells Stefano and Victor to butt out, let him do it his way. Havent’ we heard that before? And it didn’t have great results as far as Hope was concerned, LOL.
April 15, 2011 at 9:27 pm #22884caseyParticipantI guess it happens these days, but I would never allow my child of that age to have a phone. That whole defense of parents saying kids need a phone in case of emergency is hogwash. This is the beginning of kids thinking they’re in control. A phone is a privilege that doesn’t come to first graders.
April 15, 2011 at 10:49 pm #22886BonbonParticipantthey don’t know how far away they are, he thinks they walked to where they are so thinking they are probably close by. Besides, he did say they would come and get them.
April 15, 2011 at 10:58 pm #22887BonbonParticipantI use to think the same thing. My grandkids were getting all these electronic things and when they got a phone I thought it was pretty ridiculous. But then, I started thinking, am I just being an old fogie? I mean, this is the technology age after all and if the kids don’t keep up with everything going on, they’re going to be left behind. I agree with you though, do they really need to be texting at that age. Heck, they can hardly spell yet.
April 15, 2011 at 11:07 pm #22888SWParticipantthen he could have done the "find my iPhone!" function and found them. And yes, a lot of kids do have phones. I won’t go into whether I think it is appropriate or not though.
April 16, 2011 at 1:35 am #22892luckeyParticipantphone for calling or texting. Mine beeps at me if there is a text message. If that’s what Ciera’s phone does, she won’t respond in any way after what she told Theo about not answering the phone. I would think that she meant that she wouldn’t open the phone to a text message either.
April 16, 2011 at 2:14 am #22893caseyParticipantit could have only been a matter of a couple minutes between when they disappeared and B&H discovered they were gone. Like first concluding they couldn’t have gotten far on foot.
April 16, 2011 at 11:20 am #22895BonbonParticipantIt doesn’t do anything but be a phone. It’s one of those Jitterbugs, no texting, no camera, nothing (well, it DOES have voice dial but it usually gets the wrong person when I DO try to use it!).
The reason I got it is because of the large print on the screen. I can see it without having to put my glasses on. My kids keep bugging me to get a smart phone but, quite frankly, I just don’t need one. I very rarely use the one I have. I just don’t find that I have to talk to anyone that frequently.
The one thing I would like to have though is the GPS. That would save me a MULTITUDE of problems when I’m driving. :o) I have trouble because I can’t read the street signs unless I’m right on top of one. Ah…old age, it’s so fun.
April 16, 2011 at 12:46 pm #22902caseyParticipantit has anything to do with being an old fogie. That’s what society would like you to believe: we “have” to have all this techno stuff. Yes, in business I fully agree – you’ll be lost/left behind if you don’t keep up.
But no one will ever convince me young children need a phone. That’s just parents caving in to the culture and media pressures. I could blast away about how lax/permissive parenting is severely contributing to today’s “bratland” but I’ll spare everyone the diatribe!April 16, 2011 at 1:51 pm #22903PattiParticipantI have a 5-year old grandson who can’t remember from day to day what does with his Power Rangers action figures or his age-appropriate video game that he just got recently, so can you imagine the care he would give a cell phone? Granted, it looks like they coached Ciera very well on taking care of her phone. She even had a little pink case with it. Awwww. My grandson’s would wind up lost in one of his toy-boxes, lost among the dinosaurs and power rangers, after one day. So no, no way would I allow, or even think about giving a cell phone to a 5-year old. My 2 teenaged granddaughters have lost 4 phones between them. I refuse to buy them one. If their parents want to throw good money away, then so be it. If retirement taught me anything, it is to be more frugal, and my money is too hard to come by these days to be wasting it on a piece of technology that 1) does not belong in the hands of a 5-year old; and 2) chances are they will put it down someplace and it will never be seen again.
April 16, 2011 at 5:33 pm #22907SWParticipanta cell phone (older than and you think they do, then give them one that has a set number of minutes and when the money that was on it is gone, it’s gone! That said, I have no issue with a teen, who is working and buys/pays for their own cell phone, having one. That to me is learning responsibility and I’m pretty sure they will do a lot more taking care of their phone IF they are are paying for it with their own hard-earned money. I wanted my own phone and got it because I PAID for it, not my parents! I learned money management early by this and many other lessons I was taught by my parents. PS, the same goes for a car!
April 16, 2011 at 8:28 pm #22911DeeLanParticipantI agree give them a cell phone with built in limitations. My niece is 28 and very irresponsible. Her parents got her the phont and added her to their plan so they’d be able to get hold of her if needed. The first weekend she went 300 minutes over the 200 they allowed her and they ended up getting her a phone that’s meant for a child that they had to program the numbers she could call into it and she couldn’t make or receive any calls other than those. The only numbers put into it were the house phone, both parent’s cells and ours. If I had a young child that needed a phone then that’s what I would get them.
BTW, when my cousin was starting high school and involved in band they required the students to have cell phones because they didn’t know what time they’d be returning from events and the students needed to be able to call parents or guardians for a pick-up.
