Logged on this morning and surprised no one mentioned AI from last night – 5-18.
I have no clue who will be in the finals, much less win. Really liked Lauren’s second song despite the mistakes; otherwise still not a fan. Liked Scotty’s second too. Haley’s version of Rhiannon left me flat and I think the judges too. Though they scooted around it by merely saying it was a nice contrast to the other material. But otherwise the judges certainly applauded her last night.May 19, 2011 at 1:29 pm #23827PattiParticipantbut if I had to choose who won last night, it would be Scotty. I did like Lauren’s "I Hope You Dance". She did a nice job with that. The other two were, in Randy’s words, ‘just okay for me.’ If she makes it to the finale, I think her nerves are going to be her downfall.
Simply said, I just don’t like Haley. I don’t know what it is; but maybe it’s because I think she screams most of her songs rather than sings them. The judges tried to praise her efforts, but they just couldn’t, or wouldn’t, give her their true feelings, that being doubt in her song choices. I don’t think the fall hurt her, but I also don’t think it helped either. Nice to see her dad perform with her. That was a first, I believe.
In any case, I’m hoping it will be Scotty and Lauren in the finale. Two good performers who, although clearly country at heart, have been shown that they can diversify if the song is right for them, both have terrific stage presence when they are "really on", and just look as cute as can be when they’re performing. I also think they have better voices than Haley.
My track record isn’t great, because I was so sure James would be the next American Idol, but I’m going with Scotty (which probably means Haley will win it — LOL). I agree with J-Lo — I like Scotty’s hair short like he first appeared in auditions.

To me, Haley is a more interesting singer than the other two–I love the little voice surprises she always includes in her songs. I would buy her CD, but would find it hard to buy one from Scotty or Lauren. I like Haley’s voice, her types of songs, and her charisma, so she is my choice of the three remaining.
May 19, 2011 at 4:44 pm #23830NoraParticipantSorry guys I Was half asleep last night missed part of the performances. but overall Scotty won last night, Haley came in 2nd with Lauren 3rd. Lauren is back to being annoying for me. she seems too breathy on her songs, like she cant hold her breath that long for a note. you cant hear that? she was definetly pitchy on that first song and i cant believe the judges loved it so much. i though the other 2 songs what i heard of them were much better. Same with Haley. I thought she did a great job all around i think her voice is perfect for Allannis(sp?) i thought she did a good job on the other 2, i loved that her dad was with her on the first song, and i didnt even see her fall, i thought something happened when she went over to the other guitarist but i didnt know what. she is one pretty lady though. I’m hoping for Haley and Scotty.
May 19, 2011 at 5:41 pm #23832DeeLanParticipantI agree that I was least impressed with Haley last night but the judges can’t fault any of them on song choice. Only one was picked by the contestant and the other 2 were by the judges and Jimmy Iovine. I think Jimmy’s choice for all 3 was excellent and couldn’t figure out WHY they picked She Believes in Me for Scotty. Don’t get me wrong, he did a good job but that song isnt’ for someone with his deep voice. He would have been better off with a Randy Travis or even a Garth song. I’m hoping for a Scotty / Lauren finale with Scotty as winner.
May 19, 2011 at 5:46 pm #23834DeeLanParticipantShe fell as she started back up the steps in front of the judges. She had gone off the stage and danced behind them and when she came back to the steps it looked like her shoe slid on the floor as she sort of went back and ended up on her knee. I think I blinked when she actually went down so rewound and watched it again. I know the music stopped for a second and she picked herself up and started singing again. I guve her credit for continuing after what had to be painful when it happened as well as embarassing. I’m sure it was hard on her dad not to run down to see if she was OK.

May 19, 2011 at 9:43 pm #23842caseyParticipantonthat Kenny Rodgers choice. It’s a nice enough song, but yeah, Randy or Garth would have challenged him so much more. I actually thought Haley WAS A. Morrisette on that tune – really sounded like her.
Ever notice that Lauren on the verses, especially when she starts a song, is quite soft and weak. It’s only when she revs up to the chorus you notice her. The judges love this girl, but for the most part I’m not seeing (or rather hearing it.) -
