Please send prayers up for all of us in direct line of the flooding. We are supposed to have 2–4 feet of standing water through July. We have nowhere to go, as our entire town (Eastern Iowa) will be under. Please send up prayers…I know I can count on this board! Thanks to all of you!!
June 3, 2011 at 9:19 pm #24202PattiParticipantkprstrs. May God show mercy upon you and yours by speedily drying up the flood waters and quickly restoring your precious homeland. My heart goes out to all who have suffered and continue to suffer through this catastrophe.
June 4, 2011 at 12:17 am #24206GoodyParticipantare with you and all in your area. I know it is difficult for anyone who has not seen flooding first hand, to imagine the horrible results. I pray that you will not lose everything. God bless.

It’s been a really weird year for so many in the USA, fires in Texas, the tornados, now with the spring run off, the floods, and I hear there is a high potential for a bad hurricane season again. We all need a break! You and your family stay safe. A blessing on you all!
June 4, 2011 at 12:41 am #24208caseyParticipantMy best friend from college (I’m a New York Stater who graduated from ISU) lives in eastern Ia and got flooded last year too. Here in my neck of the woods we suffered through the wettest spring in recorded history, so I know what flooding is. But having it through July is rough. And worry too for farmers – pray for them as well! This affects all Americans.
June 4, 2011 at 12:46 pm #24212kprstrsParticipantThanks ALL of you. I know my ‘kprstrs’ is a little strange, but it stands for "Keeper of The Stars" which is the Tracy Byrd song. I walked down the aisle to that song quite a few years back when I married Hubby. I am a Christian who believes that I am in this place as part of God’s plan. I don’t know what that plan is, but when I see Him, I will ask Him what in the world he was thinking!!
June 4, 2011 at 5:13 pm #2421853tdogsParticipantfrom what I’ve figured out about life, He’s teaching us, making us trust in Him for all things, and making us stronger with Him – life is a learning journey, it goes by in the blink of an eye…these tough times make us realize that all things are replaceable with the exception of the ones we love and care for and our faith in God.
June 4, 2011 at 8:07 pm #24225PattiParticipant"That which doesn’t kill us makes us stronger."
June 6, 2011 at 3:21 am #24239kprstrsParticipantI sure am getting stronger day by day!!
June 9, 2011 at 4:24 pm #2435253tdogsParticipantheard they were going to let one town flood but wasn’t sure if it was in your neck of the woods. Here with Texas and Arizona burning up and the flooding out your way, it looks like we’re in for one heck of a summer…Still saying prayers for ya!
June 10, 2011 at 8:01 am #24390kprstrsParticipantThanks so very much for the prayers, they mean SO much! The city of Council Bluffs, Iowa is saying that they believe the levees will hold. I think they are just trying to keep people calm. I see our levee rising more each day and it’s almost to the top. Something has to give. We are moving all our belongings out Monday and Tuesday to a friends house so at least we won’t lose our furniture and all that. IF we don’t flood, so be it, but if we do at least we won’t have to replace everything! We’ll ‘camp out’ here on a mattress and bare necessities (just Hubby and Me) and it will be FUN!! It will be like when we first started out with nothing!! That is when you find out that as long as you wake up next to one another, you truly DO have everything!!
June 10, 2011 at 2:44 pm #2440553tdogsParticipantis just window dressing…I will be keeping my prayers going until everything dries out and you don’t have to worry anymore! God bless!
June 10, 2011 at 7:55 pm #24420BonbonParticipantAll the neighbors got together and grilled all the food we had so it wouldn’t spoil and had a big block party. There wasn’t much to do with no electricity so we sat out and gabbed. It really brought the neighborhood together. Just think of it as an adventure.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you. You are wise to move out before it happens. Good luck!
