I’m just starting a new thread on this because the other one had gotten so long and convoluted with other stuff.
As far as Joe retiring, I recall not too long ago him saying in an interview that retirement was not in the cards for him. He enjoyed what he was doing too much to stay home and twiddle his thumbs (my words, not his).
I remember when he left in the past that I really didn’t care much but I would really miss him now. And as much as I dislike Kate, I like the two of them together. I think they play off each other very well and feel that they really do care for each other. Love?, maybe not, but there’s something special there.
I agree bonbon, I’ll miss Joe too. But I’m really really happy to have John and Marlena back! Do you have any idea when J and M are coming back?
I understand if he wants to retire. It is like Doug and Julie, I would love them on more, but I understand it is their decision to be on less. So I get it. But the show should not force him off or fire him, but I think he is an important part of the show and with John coming back it would be a shame to lose him. There could be some excellent SLs with John and Stephano on at the same time.
I hope Joe M. stays on indefinitely. No one else can fill his shoes. He should give EJ a swift kick in the rear since he is acting like such a "twit" over Taylor. Joe has the range to be both the villain and the loving grandfather. No one can fill Joe’s shoes–long live Joe as Stefano.

I just can not remember, did John turn out to be Stefano’s brother, son or what relation? I’m have a senior moment!!!
They share a father. John’s parents are Santo DiMera and Colleen (Shawn Sr.’s sister). Can’t remember who Stefano’s mother is.

interesting to see him interacting with Stefano. If I’m recalling correctly, it will be the first that we will be seeing the two of them together with John as real John and not the character that he had turned into.
