I have seen some negative posts and just wanted to start a postive one. I believe the new writers are listening to us and if they happen to be actually watching this site, I want to give them some positive things to see. Also, I thought it might help us all see what good changes have taken place, so maybe we will look at things more positively in the coming weeks.
I like how the writers are given nods to us viewers… examples of this is EJ saying as of now he is no longer wish washy, he is taking his birthright as a Dimera his way. Another example Sami talking about money.
I like how all the SLs got wrapped up and not just dropped, but we have had snippets to get us excited about future SLs coming up
I like how all the characters seem so much happier. You see something in the actors eyes and faces that shows they are happier about where the show is going.
I like the new camera work and props. Everything seems so fresh and nice looking.
There are more things I like, but this will get us started.
September 26, 2011 at 5:30 pm #26787NoraParticipantYes I LOVE the new sets we arent just seeing the cheeting heart and the brady pub and the pier. cant watit to see more new ones!
September 26, 2011 at 5:42 pm #26789DPParticipantI’m liking that some of the more recent story lines are a little more close to reality – ie, Sami’s health scare, her and Rafe’s financial issues, Bo and Hope being cops, a day in Salem spans only two episodes (and not a month!!), even Carly going to rehab. These are things that happen more frequently to real people than:
– being buried alive
– coming back from the dead
– face transplants
– overnight recovery after being in a coma for weeks
– body impersonators
– etc.
While I think soaps help us forget our own issues and should provide a bit of fantasy, I believe the key is making it somewhat more realistic so that we can still relate.
September 28, 2011 at 5:05 am #26854daysfanforeverParticipantThey seem so natural, and remember these were Chandler Massey and Deidre Hall’s first scenes as grandson and grandmother.
September 28, 2011 at 10:02 am #26859BonbonParticipantFrom the conversations, it sounds like these old characters are not going to be permanent. Anybody know if contracts have been signed or are these just temporary appearances?
And Carrie became an attorney? Boy, where did that come from? Never a mention of it before. And Austin a forensic accountant? (I loved his comment about "How you stayed awake when you said that." Can’t remember who he said it too but was very funny.) How in the heck will they fit THAT into a storyline? I’m anxious to see. He’s still a cutie though, isn’t he?
September 28, 2011 at 1:41 pm #26868NoraParticipantOh yeah I loved Will and Marlena together! They were so natural! I guess Marlena is going to be a big part in helping Will.
And Yes Bonbon, Austin is still gorgous!
September 28, 2011 at 2:52 pm #26873justwonderingParticipantWell since they are accusing John of embezzlement, he can be helpful in proving John innocent. And Carrie can be his lawyer.
September 28, 2011 at 3:01 pm #26874IzzyBParticipantMy understanding is they do have contracts. I think it will be like any other character who comes into town for a short stay and then they decide to stay forever. They do that a lot, like with Dario, Taylor, etc. Those characters have now left but only because of the new writers. The old one had them staying forever.
September 28, 2011 at 3:11 pm #26875DCola522ParticipantI have to admit, I didn’t watch Days in the Patrick Muldoon era… so I’m not used to seeing her with him! He looks so much older than Austin Peck (and IMO, not as good-looking ) so it might take me a bit to get used to. Very happy to have John & Marlena back though. I hope they are given good storylines!
I’m liking the new set and looking forward to some "new scenery". Please, less scenes at the Cheatin’ Heart!!!
September 28, 2011 at 3:16 pm #26878BonbonParticipantis better looking. Yikes! He always reminded me of a little Bloodhound puppy. I think Patrick is way better looking, however, I think he is beginning to show his age.
September 28, 2011 at 3:40 pm #26880caseyParticipantwas always such a goof.
September 28, 2011 at 8:55 pm #26886justwonderingParticipantI also have no memory of Patrick Muldoon. To me Austin Peck is the Austin I know. Don’t really think Muldoon is better looking than Peck. He has a different look and does look older.
As far as Peck being goofy—- an actor plays the role he is given. I always like Austin Peck, will have to wait and see if Muldoon is any good.
September 28, 2011 at 8:59 pm #26887SWParticipantPeck’s Austin. Patrick should have aged a little as he’s in his 40s and I believe Christie is later 30s. He still looks good to me!
I’ve enjoyed all the shows so far. Maybe Kate’s new asst. could be involved with Sonny?
I’m looking forward to seeing how Sami/Carrie/Austin/Rafe get along. I liked Sami allowing the kids to have contact with EJ (even though he doesn’t deserve them) as he is their father. I hope she can continue to grow up!
September 29, 2011 at 12:40 am #26891cornbreadParticipantI love….
- the new sets
- the new dialog
- people doing normal things, like eating!
- the romance
- direction of the storylines…I am not F’forwarding nearly as much
- the recognition of past characters and storylines
- a reason for Salemites to get dressed up
- recognition of holidays!!!!!
September 29, 2011 at 6:34 am #26896PunkyParticipantthat we are seeing more Bo and Hope and Abe and Lexie. I like that Marlena is back. I am excited that Jack is back as long as they respect the character and don’t go overboard. When Jack is written well he is a very captivating character with amazing chemistry with Jennifer. I like that we saw EJ in something besides a suit recently. I know he is an attorney but so is my brother and he doesn’t hang out in his suit once he gets home! I enjoyed seeing Chloe finally stand up for herself. I wish she was staying on with these new writers. Argh.
