Anybody else watched this? I just read this morning they are cancelling it after only three episodes. What do they always have to do this to shows I like. They said it was too risqué for TV and, of course, the ratings were low. Geeze, it’s on at 10:00. I’ve seen far worse on other shows.
I liked it because I thought the writing was good and the actors so perfect in their parts…the aspiring DA, the first black bunny, the newspaper woman infiltrating the club. Never cared much for Eddie Ciprian but, boy, he is one hot tomato in this role, very sexy and steamy.
I also like it because I was at the Chicago Playboy Club once (the first club of many) in 1971, when this show takes place. I was amazed how absolutely accurate it was from how I remembered it.
I’ve read that Pan Am will might be next. Like that one too but not as much as Playboy.
Why can’t these shows prosper? Are our tastes in entertainment changing? Pretty soon we’ll have five nights a week of CSI. I guess CSI Des Moines will be next.

October 5, 2011 at 6:15 pm #27135BonbonParticipantThis post shouldn’t be here. I thought I was on the other site.
Jenn, can you move it?
October 5, 2011 at 8:16 pm #27144IzzyBParticipantI was going to watch both of these shows. I even taped the playboy one, but then deleted it. I decided that I am sick of getting involved in shows and then they get cancelled. All the shows I watched last season were cancelled. Just not worth my time. So instead I decided to wait and if if a show makes it that sounds interesting I will watch the past episodes online. That is the nice thing about technology and all the networks putting the shows on the web.

October 12, 2011 at 7:09 pm #27505TopazParticipantThe show is set in 1961. The newspaper woman who infiltrated The Playboy Club had ID dated 1961. I also checked the info on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1797475/

October 13, 2011 at 2:37 pm #27545TopazParticipantMy typing fingers and my brain are not always in synch as well. In 1964, my husband and I traveled from Cleveland to Detroit for a wedding. My cousin, who had just moved to the Detroit area, took us to The Playboy Club in downtown Detroit. It was so glamorous and exciting. I still have the matchbook I took as a souvenir.
October 13, 2011 at 5:50 pm #27558BonbonParticipantI was just 21 years old and had never been to any place like that. Well, not entirely true, I once had a date that took me to a nightclub to see a very famous marimba player who I can’t for the life of me remember his name right now…Lionel Hampton? Maybe. But that was nothing like the Playboy Club. I probably sat there all night with my mouth hanging open. It was…VERY exciting.
