I truly cannot predict. Each has a terrific and inspirational backstory, so that might play in. On the surface Melanie would be the choice, but I wouldn’t rule out the other two.
Melanie’s last song was terrific, but I thought her duet w/R Kelly, as a couple of the judges stated lacked the knock it out of the park emotion it needed.December 22, 2011 at 3:39 pm #29835PattiParticipantalthough Josh and Chris are quite popular, they’re just not my preference in an entertainer, although I prefer Josh over Chris any day. For the life of me, I cannot see his talent, but that’s just my individual taste. The show has been having spectacular backgrounds behind the singers, as well as the laser light shows, which have been superb. Guess it will depend on the ages of the viewers who vpted as to who wins. If it’s a predominantly younger crowd of voters, then Chris just might sneak in there. I must say, however, that I WILL be surprised if Josh wins. He has that gravel voice that started and ended with Rod Stewart, and has been imitated by many, but topped by none, IMO. You’re right though, it’s a tough one to call.
December 22, 2011 at 5:44 pm #29840BonbonParticipantI have to root for Melanie because she is a Florida girl. Not that it helped Albert on Survivor.
December 22, 2011 at 11:53 pm #29845DeeLanParticipantI think as far as voice goes it’s Melanie all the way though Don prefers Josh. Don’s a rocker though and he feels Josh reminds him of Joe Cocker.
I think Josh is good but not as good as Melanie.
Chris isn’t the best singer but he is a good performer just not my cup-o-tea. Don feels he’s been skating along on his story of being clean for 70 days and now 8 months. I think that’s why Simon threw that in about Melanie not thinking she was good enough after she was told she wasn’t going through and lacking confidence when she first got back. A little sympathy goes a long way with voters.
December 23, 2011 at 4:08 am #29849caseyParticipantThis time I do think the voters got it right. Although I love Josh, Melanie has the recording contract type of voice that I think will do quite well. We’ll see how far she can go.
And speaking of winners, what ever happened to Idol’s Kris Allen?December 23, 2011 at 1:51 pm #29851DeeLanParticipantWhat happened to a lot of Idol’s past winners?
December 23, 2011 at 2:26 pm #29852BonbonParticipantit mentioned an Idol winner. And I’d never heard of him/her (forgot which) before. True I don’t watch the show but you’d think they’d at least be in the entertainment news (which I watch every night) once in a while.
December 23, 2011 at 4:12 pm #29853PattiParticipantshe was definitely my choice from day one, but I’m sure Josh, and probably Chris as well, will make out just fine. They both certainly appeared very humble in wishing Melanie the best and seem like pretty cool guys. Wishing them both the best as well.
December 23, 2011 at 5:10 pm #29854BonbonParticipant(not the exact word I wanted but can’t think of it right now) but…I really think the producers of these "reality contests" stress to the contestants that they MUST be overly gracious and hug and congratulate the winner when they lose. I remember the first AI when Kelly Clarkston (?) won and What’s-his-name looked like he was happier that she won than if he had. Same when Ruben Studdard won. (Hope I have these names right.)
And, it’s happened repeatedly on other shows too. Survivor is a good example. The loser always looks so happy and I don’t believe that is the case. Others are, America’s Got Talent, DWTS, and So You Think You Can Dance. They are all just so phony. I don’t know if I could be such a big sport having just barely lost $1M (Survivor). I’m not saying they need to be grumpy and throw a fit, just have them shake hands and congratulate them and then get the heck out of there.
December 23, 2011 at 7:32 pm #29857DeeLanParticipantDid anyone catch what Rachel Crowe said last night when the host asked how she’s doing. She said to watch for some great things to come so I’m thinking she has a recording contract. Of course that wouldn’t surprise me. The day she was sent home and was crying her mother was talking to her and Rachel kept saying "you promise, you promise" so I’m wondering if they approached her mother before hand about a contract.
