Wow, I’m surprised no one posted on this. After all the “sensitivity” Days showed in bringing along the gayline, they sure exploded today. I personally disliked the overtness, but I understand this had been building up in Will.
What do you all think?February 24, 2012 at 4:21 am #31297shadowParticipantabout this on the other forum and I know I will probably get a lot of flack, that is if anyone reads it.
February 24, 2012 at 11:23 am #31299BonbonParticipantI have no problem with homosexuality but knowing that the actors aren’t gay in real life made me think that must be an awfully difficult thing for them to do. If they were both gay, it wouldn’t have bothered me at all.
Now if Will had already accepted his sexuality but had just never acted on it, I could accept he would have had a lot of pent-up feelings that just might have exploded that way. But I thought it was a little too far out there for someone who had obviously just finally decided to "try it out." I understand he was drunk which allowed him to do it but we have been led to believe that he didn’t KNOW he was gay…just had some feelings he couldn’t explain.
Anyway, the guys did a great job but I could have done without that scene. And I’m pretty liberal when it comes to that stuff.
February 24, 2012 at 1:10 pm #31305ladyofherbsParticipantI missed DOL yesterday due to my father in lkaw’s funeral. So I watched it at 7 am this morning. When Will grabbed the guy for a kiss, I yelled OH MY GOD so loud I woke up my husband. I agree that it might be difficult for non-gay actors to portray thenselves as gay BUT they are actors and others have done it before on film. I hope they do not have Will portrayed as a promiscuous gay.
February 24, 2012 at 4:47 pm #31317PattiParticipantI thought it was too aggressive, especially since this Neil was a total stranger to Will, but that’s just me.
February 24, 2012 at 10:51 pm #31331caseyParticipantof what bugged me about the scene and made it rather unsavory. I should think gays wouldn’t see that exchange in a favorable light.
February 25, 2012 at 4:23 am #31338shadowParticipantThat’s a lot of the problems going on now!!!
February 25, 2012 at 1:35 pm #31343powerpaw2ParticipantWill was rather buzzed and I think that made him let go of his reluctance to act on his feelings. However, I would have preferred the writers do it in a less impulsive way.
February 27, 2012 at 8:17 pm #31414IzzyBParticipantI have really liked this SL, I think they picked the perfect characters to play it (Will and Sonny as someone to help him). They have family to go to and that helps the SL a lot. I also think Will getting drunk and acting out was perfect, I mean we have all done things when we were drunk that we would not have done if sober. I think it was that. But I love him still questioning it and I loved Marlena’s response.
I don’t understand how people can say it was too much. If it was a guy and girl finally breaking down and kissing like that, we would have no issues with it. It doesn’t make Will this guy who is going to sleep around after just one kiss.
February 27, 2012 at 8:19 pm #31415IzzyBParticipantI don’t see why political views have to come into this conversation. There are a lot of variety of Liberals, as there are a lot of varieties of conservatives. There is also a huge population of moderates and independents. There is no need to label someone who may actually enjoy this scene. It doesn’t make them a Liberal. Our country is too into labels and what side you are on to realize we are all people and we have more in common with each other than you would realize. But we are too busy labelling and calling each others names to even realize that.
February 27, 2012 at 8:55 pm #31417mshults60ParticipantVery well said, IzzyB—-So much more in common and we need to get back to that realization. Labels, labels and more labels—-and folks always getting their feelings so hurt
That certainly needs improving. (Dear Congress, are you listening???) If only they could understand how much they contribute to this situation. OK, off the soapbox now. Bye
February 27, 2012 at 10:37 pm #31418caseyParticipantthe intensity of that liplock just the same if it were heterosexual. Because of one thing – Will didn’t even know this guy. I couldn’t imagine one of Salem’s women doing the same w/ a guy she had met for ten minutes.
February 27, 2012 at 10:39 pm #31419IzzyBParticipantIt was angry intense. Totally different things. The whole point was not knowing the guy. He was drunk, confused, and angry at the world. He took it out on that guy and it was probably easier not knowing him than knowing him and having to deal with the embarassment afterwards.
February 27, 2012 at 10:43 pm #31420caseyParticipantlike the other guy was seeking Will out. And he was just as into it as Will.
February 27, 2012 at 10:51 pm #31423IzzyBParticipantThe other guy was into Will, but he did seem a little confused about the kiss. Yes, he was into the kiss and contributed, but I think he got caught up in the momment. Easy to do when alcohol is involved.
