That sounds very ominous…some good, some bad.
Yes, these writers did come up with the gay Will storyline but there’s much more to the show than that. You can’t have one little cherry in a whole bowl of pits.
Sounds like somebody big is going to get the axe. I wonder who.
April 12, 2012 at 5:57 pm #32409SWParticipanthave negatively impacted the ratings. There were people who claimed they wouldn’t watch the show if it went forward with the gay storyline. Not sure if they did or not. I think it was one of the better written stories these writers wrote. I’m not interested in seeing gay love scenes but the process of seeing Will have doubts and then admit it, was good writing/acting.
April 12, 2012 at 6:34 pm #32410scarlettParticipantThis Greg Meng guy thinks the gay storyline is "a story everybody likes"? Who, exactly, is "everybody"? That’s a pretty broad statement.
April 12, 2012 at 6:35 pm #32411DeeLanParticipantWasn’t the gay storyline rumored about long before these writers came on board. I’m thinking they might not have come up with the story and the old writers refused to go through with it so new writers were hired that would and now that the ratings dropped they’re KC’s scapegoats and taking the fall
April 12, 2012 at 7:04 pm #32416IwovemyboysParticipantWill being gay storyline! I fast forward through everything that has to do with Will now. Which is sad because I honestly used to like him. However, I’m not interested in seeing that. I am completely against the gay lifestyle as spoken in the Bible, so it really isn’t something I want to sit and watch! So hopefully that gets changed when the new writters come on!
April 12, 2012 at 7:52 pm #32417MoGirlParticipantI personally don’t like them changing writers so much as you just get stories going and then they alter everything . There never is any flow to the stories then. Oh dern what major person is being fired now ? Not Marlana and John again ? There is no one I want to see gone really. I don’t care for the gay story line tho I agree it has been written very well and I loved the interaction with Will and Marlana.
April 13, 2012 at 2:12 am #32420dartlanParticipant"I am completely against the gay lifestyle as spoken in the Bible, so it really isn’t something I want to sit and watch!" So you are ok with all the adultry, killings, and straight up evils deeds that go unpunished on Days because the bible doesn’t say it’s bad? Interesting…..
April 13, 2012 at 2:05 pm #32424mommytutuParticipantI actually think the gay storyline was one of the better stories and you can’t deny that Candler Massey has done a superb job. I was not offended by the story and I think it’s been done well. My beef with thes writers has been splitting every couple up and even repeating so many stories. The Gabi and Abby stories are too similar too soon. Now we have Nicole hiding her pregnancy/paternity from EJ. Didn’t we just see this? Aside from Will’s story, there has been nothing I’ve been interested in.
April 13, 2012 at 2:42 pm #32418justwonderingParticipantThe gay SL is really a Will coming of age SL. It was written well and portrayed in a sensitive manner. It developed slowly and included some of the best acting by Chandler and Dee that has been seen on DOOL. It told the story of a young man who was confused and had doubts about himself and after much soul searching realized that he was gay. According to Chandler this SL has been in the works for over a year. As much as I was against Will being the gay character, I think that it was a story that should be told.
As far as this SL being against the Bible, I have to say that 90% of the SLs on DOOL are against the the teachings of the Bible, including adultery, lying, murder, lying, stealing, lying, divorce, lying, rape, attempted murder, kidnapping, fixing elections, changing test results, stealing eggs, and oh, don’t forget lying. I am repeating lying because it seems in Salem that IS the ultimate sin. I mean no disrespect, but if you truly go by what is spoken in the Bible, there is no way you could ever watch this soap or most of TV for that matter.
The good thing about soaps is there are multiple characters and SL so you can pick what you like.
April 13, 2012 at 5:10 pm #32427BonbonParticipantI thought it was well written and well done. Although I have no problems with gays and their livestyles, I’d rather not see a relationship between them on Days so I hope it all ends here. I can’t explain why but I’d find it uncomfortable for me to watch. I think between people who feel like me, and those who are totally against it, it probably is not a subject that should be portrayed on Days. I know a large audience of soaps are gays but I think the rest of us are still the majority.
I hope this doesn’t offend anyone because it’s only my opinion and I have no problem at all if your’s differs from mine…any more than I care if you are a Democrat!!! No, no, don’t hit me.
April 14, 2012 at 12:55 pm #32442IwovemyboysParticipantNot going to get in a huge discussion about it but they are not total and utter abominations! And I’m not going to watch strictly Disney shows every day, having said that as well there are some Disney movies that have sexual conontations to them. So to answer your question yes really! Something that is a straight up abomination, I will not support in any way shape or form. So thank goodness for the fast forward button!
April 14, 2012 at 12:58 pm #32443IwovemyboysParticipantso you can have your thoughts and opinions and I can have mine. Just because you do not agree with mine doesn’t make your thoughts right or more imporant then mine! And I never ever tried or said that anyone should agree with me, nor did I try and pass on my feelings on any one else! I just spoke how I felt which is what everyone should be able to do! Thank you!
April 14, 2012 at 1:19 pm #32445mommytutuParticipantYou’ve missed some superb acting. I think if you had watched his scenes with Marlena you would have been impressed and appreciated his struggle. Being gay is not a lifestyle choice. It’s just the way some people are and the struggle to accept who they are is difficult for so many. No sane person would "coose" a lifestyle that brings out hatred in so many.
April 14, 2012 at 9:58 pm #32450Carol JParticipantI have known some older gay people that, for obvious reasons never came"out", but they were good people. The younger gay people still have a very hard time but it is getting better. No one would ever choose to be gay; it is just the way they are born.
