Did anybody watch 20/20 last night?  It was all about Dancing With the Stars.  It was really interesting, they went over some of the winners, showed the costumes being made, talked with the judges, talked about how much weight different contestants had lost, etc.  The judges all agreed that the best dancers were Nicole Schwertzeneger (or however you spell her name!) and Giles Marini.  I think I’d have to agree with them.  All-in-all, it was a really good program.

I thought the best male dancer was Mario Lopez and the best female dancer was Tracy, the lady who is now dating George Clooney (she used to be a lady wrestler).

Yes, she was very good also and so was Mario.  I also really liked Hilio, the race car driver.  I’ll never forget that dance he did with Julianna Hough in that bright yellow suit.

I watched it and found it very interesting.  Though I thought Gilles was great, I have to say that I think Mario Lopez was the best dancer ever on the show.

What I find remarkable is the work that goes into the show; from the people who design and make the dancers’ outfits, to the band, the cameramen, and everybody else working behind the scenes to get the show together.  It’s amazing that they pull it off week after week.

You don’t stop to think just how many people it takes to make up that show.  And the money!  Holy cow, the costumes alone are amazing, some costing $5,000!!!  I just wonder what they will ultimately do with all those costumes.  They must have hundreds (if not thousands) of them.  If you figure 13 seasons with an average of 10 costumes per week for 12 weeks, that comes to 1,560 and that’s not counting the extras they have for the group dances, when they have two dances in one week, the troupe’s, etc.  They apparently don’t ever wear them again.

What really floored me was that only two people make all the men’s costumes.  That’s incredible.  I wish they’d shown the hair stylists and make-up people because they all do a great job too.
