What does everyone see as the purpose for Nick? Melanie will be gone – unless they recast – so that avenue is likely closed. Maybe he will pair up with Gabi? And he says he wants to do something positive. Wonder how that aspect will work in.
August 27, 2012 at 9:41 pm #35232lynnekarenParticipantI do know I’m already bored with him.
August 28, 2012 at 12:36 am #35237dvalParticipantI didn’t find him boring. I was happy to see him back and thought he grew up really well. I remember him as a nerdy kid and he looks like a more mature man now. And come on lynnekaren, he was only on for a few minutes. Give him a chance. He may grow on you.
August 28, 2012 at 12:07 pm #35242caseyParticipanthe was introduced as a nerdy but oddly interesting character with a sarcastic, intelligent wit – much like Chloe’s Ghoul Girl. But they watered down both characters and both became more unwatchable for me.
I don’t view Nick as a big draw, but am hoping for better this time around.August 28, 2012 at 12:45 pm #35245PattiParticipantinject more of the Horton clan. When the old writers were fired and Tomlin and Whitesell were announced, the first thing I remember reading was that the show would be returning to "core" families, and what better place to start than the Hortons. I believe Nick’s avenues are endless, especially since he was a brilliant Associate Law Professor at Salem U., who invented an alternative fuel additive, and wound up giving it to Melanie, who tried to sell it to Titan and then E.J., resulting in nothing but the loss of it altogether. What has always left me wondering where Nick is concerned was that he was the lab tech who did the original paternity test on Sami’s twins, which eventually wound up in Stefano’s hands. Now, with Nick getting out of jail, and since Sami’s dialogue when she’s talking to either E.J. or Lucas, endlessly remind them that they are the "father of 2 of her children," I’m now left to wonder if Johnny will wind up being Lucas’ and not E.J.’s. For the record, here is a list of Nick’s relatives:

Jessica Blake (mother)
John Talbot (paternal grandfather)

August 28, 2012 at 1:54 pm #35246BonbonParticipantHis return held nothing for me and now that I’ve seen him back…same thing. Ho-hum. And I don’t even see any exciting possibilities.
There was talk about him and Will getting together. They are both very smart cookies so maybe they will invent or "find" something genius.
August 28, 2012 at 2:16 pm #35248rngatorParticipantperhaps will and nick will work ej to get the formula back.
August 28, 2012 at 11:57 pm #35253rfsextonParticipantI am hoping he’s back to say that Johnny is actually Lucas’ son and that Sydney is Lucas’ child too.
August 29, 2012 at 12:34 am #35254cjwestParticipantPersonally I’m glad to see the character back. Yes he will be used as part of the reason Melanie is leaving but I believe he may already have been considered before that plot line was decided on. He will give a fresh look to some of the younger characters and I am sure the Horton family angle will be played up. It already allowed Julie to get involved which hasn’t happened for a long time. Julie and Doug have only been holiday window dressing for several years.
August 29, 2012 at 1:33 am #35256luckeyParticipantIf they did have Johnny and Sydney as Lucas’ children, that would make Nicole’s baby even more in the eye of the storm between Nicole and EJ because that child would be the only one EJ has! I’m liking that idea more and more. Not to mention that with that story line, Sami and EJ would have no reason to be connected. She could no longer say for the one millionth time, "He’s the father of two of my children"…yup, I’m all for that to happen…yes indeedy!
August 29, 2012 at 2:06 am #35257justwonderingParticipantI can understand Johnny being Lucas’s child, but cannot see how Sydney can be his. Unless they change history cause Sami was with EJ when Lucas got out of jail.
August 29, 2012 at 10:11 am #35258BonbonParticipantand been less than stellar at first but, right now, Nick is really leaving me cold. He’s coming across as surly and angry and, with those baby-lips of his, that’s not playing well for me.
I hope they have come up with some kind of interesting storyline for him but I sure can’t imagine what it could be. I don’t see pairing him up with Gabby because there’s too much age difference there (although we did have Abby go after Austin). And we know there has to be SOMEONE for him, right? Time for a new character to replace Melanie? (I hope they don’t recast her, she is just too unique.) Any ideas, anyone?
August 29, 2012 at 12:12 pm #35259caseyParticipantHe’s such a downer with low energy. I’m hoping it’s simply the prison atmosphere and his situation and once he gets sprung he’ll amp it up. If Days wanted to add more family ties they could have gone many different directions. I don’t see why Nick Fallon is such a draw. But I’m keeping an open mind that maybe the Nick w/the rapier wit we first saw will return.
August 29, 2012 at 1:59 pm #35261dvalParticipantas surly or angry. He certainly seems quite understanding of Melanie’s current situation, not at all angry about it and willing to stay in jail so it doesn’t upset her anymore. My impression is a guy who dislikes himself for what he did and only upset with himself for being so foolish, not angry but unwilling to believe anyone could forgive himi for what he did.
August 29, 2012 at 2:06 pm #35262PattiParticipantand he will undoubtedly prove it soon, probably within the next few weeks. So he’s a bit boring and a ‘bit of a downer’ right now? Well, I tend to look at his situation, where he is, what happened to him recently when someone tried to kill him in jail, and now realizing that if he is paroled, it will probably hurt Melanie very much. If that’s not reasons to be down, then I don’t know what is. When he comes back to Salem, I’m positive his acting (as long as he has a good story line) will outshine practically every other young actor on this show (maybe with the exception of Kate Mansi); but especially Casey Diedrick’s, who has turned Chad into a big dissappointment for me, just for his poor acting alone. No wonder Melanie is thinking about dumping him. He has emulated another DiMera control freak, hovering, over-bearing maniac with her, who not only won’t let her make her own decisions, but is now demanding to "take care of her situatin" or, initially, her life. Ugh, go away Chad. Bring back Nick …… can’t wait.
