Just saw on Days Cafe that Bo shares his idea for an adventure with Caroline. Since Billie suggests leaving the force will allow him time to visit Shawn I’m thinking he decides to take Caroline.
October 3, 2012 at 7:30 pm #35712dvalParticipantwhen I saw today’s episode. But won’t that make for a very short storyline for Caroline? I thought they were going to make that a major story on the show, but I guess not.
October 4, 2012 at 1:43 am #35721justwonderingParticipantThat was my reaction–Bo decides to go and takes Caroline with her. If that is the case, I am VERY disappointed in the very rushed way Bo is being written off. I also thought Caroline was suppose to be in a major front burner story. It should last longer than 2 weeks on and off!! Melanie had a longer exit story. If this is the case, it is just WRONG.
October 4, 2012 at 4:45 am #35723DeeLanParticipantMaybe we’re wrong and after the Alzeimer’s diagnosis Bo deciides it’s not good to take Caroline to unfamiliar places by himself and goes off alone. I did read he’s going to tell Hope he’s sailing around the world and visiting Shawn and Belle but is really looking for info on the DiMera’s
October 4, 2012 at 7:28 am #35726BonbonParticipanta good meaty storyline on this Alzheimers. I think it could be very well done and Peggy is just the person to pull it off. I like the way these little things are starting to show up now.
The only experience I’ve had with the disease is with the wife of a guy I used to work with. He would bring her into the office once in a while and it was so heartbreaking. They say, it’s not hard on the patient because they don’t know what’s going on but so terribly hard on the caregiver.
My doctor has told me to never think I may be getting Alzheimers when I’m forgetting things because when you truly have it, you don’t know you’re forgetting.
Back to Bo…I can’t imagine how they are going to write him off for any length of time that will make sense.
October 4, 2012 at 7:08 pm #35729GoldenDaysFanParticipantI’m sorry if everyone gets it but me, but how could two people so in love for so many years, who worked their way back to each other not that long ago, suddenly seem o.k. about going their seperate ways??? Bo take a cruise and leaves Hope at work because he now hates his job and she loves her’s? It makes no sense to me, and don’t tell me it is just a soap, I would think people paid to write these stories could come up with a better exit for a major character.
October 5, 2012 at 9:12 am #35739BonbonParticipantAlone? For how long? Forever? I don’t believe Bo would be that stupid to go across the ocean alone. Or leave Hope and Ciera for that long. And where is he getting the boat? Supposedly they don’t have a lot of money. And who’s going to give him a loan with no job. He certainly wouldn’t qualify on Hope’s salary as a cop!
Buying a boat (especially one you can sail around the world), plus all the added stuff you’d have to put on it, isn’t exactly like going out any buying a Honda, or a Mercedes, or a Jaguar…probably not even a high-end Ferrari.
October 5, 2012 at 3:44 pm #35750DeeLanParticipantI’ve heard that too Bonbon. If you think you have Alzheimers you probably don’t.
October 5, 2012 at 5:27 pm #35753cjwestParticipantThe idea of Bo leaving the force because of the pay cut makes sense. Taking off with or without his mother doesn’t.Hope would never go along with this. She would either go with him or convince him to stay.
If Caroline leaves with Bo and really has ALZ then Peggy McKay’s days are numbered on the show. Only thing I can come up with is that it turns out not to be the correct diagnosis and something else is causing the memory loss.
October 21, 2012 at 11:07 pm #36049PattiParticipantOk, the deal will be that Peter’s last day on air will be October 30th, where he will leave, WITH CAROLINE, for a "treatment" facility in California where Caroline will be "treated" for Alzheimer’s. Is there even such a thing? I don’t think so. Kayla supposedly finds this place, and Bo has self-appointed himself Caroline’s sole caregiver as she goes through her loss of life as she knows it. He will be staying with her while she is there; BUT, the spoiler does have her returning to Salem at some point, without Bo. This makes absolutely no sense. So many contradictions to say the least. So, my question now is what the heck becomes of Bo’s story and what will the reason be for Caroline returning, but not Bo???? Make sense to anyone??? Is there something I’m not seeing understanding here? If Caroline returns without Bo, what will they have become of him? This is so disrespectful to Peter Reckell, IMO. Whether they have had contract negotiation breakdowns or whatever, this is a 20-year actor who deserves so much more than this. Pitiful!
October 21, 2012 at 11:16 pm #36050dvalParticipantI googled Alzheimer’s treatment facilities and basically what I got was that they are places where caregivers are trained on progressoin of the disease, what to expect, how to handle the patient in the various stages and also the patient learns what is happening to them and what they can expect, things they can do to help prolong their memories, medications they can take and side effects, etc. In other words, not a treatment for the disease but rather training on what to expect and how to cope. That being said, it is so totally wrong to have Peter leave this way. Although it does have him once again playing the part of a "hero", so to speak. It will be very interewsting to see what happens when Caroline comes back and he is not there. THere is no really excellent explanatoin for that, in my opinion.
October 21, 2012 at 11:18 pm #36051bluebonnetParticipantwill play out for Caroline? Will we watch her get continually worse, or will she be off camera for the majority of the time? Has she said that she wants to cut her hours on screen?
October 22, 2012 at 1:09 am #36053luckeyParticipantWas Peter the only veteran who was asked to take this drastic cut in pay? Was he the highest paid of the cast? Was his salary something that would make or break the show? And if salaries are such a huge problem right now, why are they bringing back more former characters? Why is this whole scenario such a big secret? I know…too many questions, not enough answers.
October 22, 2012 at 2:50 am #36055lynnekarenParticipanthe’s off visiting Shawn D, Belle & Claire. Indefinitely of course.
October 22, 2012 at 1:38 pm #36058PattiParticipantthat’s sort of what I expected, too; that it was not a center to treat the disease itself, but rather a teaching/learning center for patients/caregivers on what to expect through progression of the disease, which as far as I know is incurable and irreversible. I have not heard or read anywhere that Caroline will be leaving the show, so I don’t understand how she will stay around. Maybe Peggy McKay is retiring and we just don’t know about it yet. If she is returning to Salem, I’m anxious to see how she will be playing the role, though. I’ve always had a lot of respect for the actress and how she’s portrayed the Brady matriarch over the years.
