they went to the special report on Sandy Hook. I’m going to get online and see if it’s there. There’s also 11:00 PM on Sunday night on SoapNet.
I saw the whole show yesterday here in Canada. I’m on MST. But because most people didn’t see it, I’m assuming they will either replay the episode here on Monday or we will have something else on it’s time slot.
with all epis being pushed back one day; same with all of the other soaps. Everything was preempted by the Connecticut school massacre. My heart bleeds for those beautiful babies, aged 5-10, whose lives were taken so soon, as well as for the teachers and others killed by yet another sick individual who somehow got 3 guns in a locked school building. It always bugs me that all anyone needs to get into a locked school building during the day is to ring the doorbell and be buzzed in. There should be a security guard seated at the entrance at all times, making sure the person admitted has a reason to be there, and is escorted to the office by a guard. Many schools don’t do this and people, once inside, are trusted to go directly to the office. A big problem all over I would have to assume.
Now, there are 20 new little Christmas angels in heaven today, as well as 6 adults. Heartbreaking! My heart and prayers go out to every one of them.
I cannot even begin to get my head around the devastation of losing a young child to what amounts to assasination. Imagine going back to your home and into that kid’s room knowing he or she will never return. How do you cope? I pray the families will lean on each other in this time of profound grief and find a way to carry on.
Should we really have to live that way? I’m not ready to live in a police state yet.
The thing that I find so disgusting is how the media dwells on this, giving notoriety to the sicko who did this. All it does is encourages others to do it again so they can get all the attention. Can you imagine how the parents of these kids feel to see this crap continuously flashed on TV and all the rest of the media? If people wouldn’t watch it or read about it, maybe they’d stop.
Personally, I will not read or watching any of it. Just my personal opinion.
would not have helped as he shot his way in. It is a very sad statement that we would have to have armed guards at elementary schools. Unfortunately there are some very sick people out there and you don’t always know who they are or what they are capable of.

This has sadly become a state of reality in our world. When people put poison in Tylenol, needles and razor blades in childrens Halloween candy, abduct and sexually or physically abuse children, discriminately beat up homeless and old people, drive-by shootings… The list goes on. We will never go back to the days of innocence.
When I visited my high school in Illinois for our 50th class reunion, I was shocked to see metal detectors at the doors. This used to be a quiet middle-class neighborhood where we left our doors unlocked and the keys in the car. What in the world has happened?
trace it back to the mid-sixties and the beginnings of immorality and disrespect. Compounded by parents giving their kids more entitlement and less discipline. On top of that the explosion of our techno world where anyone can bully anyone in cyberspace. And just look at most of what passes for tv entertainment these days. A whole lot of crudeness, nastiness and an abundance of sex and violence.
They are talking about arming teachers and school staff. There is alledgedly a school district in Texas that allows Concealed Handgun permit holders who work for the district to carry a weapon. I am a "guns rights" person. However, I have severe reservations about teachers being armed. There are some people I taught with over the past 26 years that I definitely WOULD NOT trust with a gun. There is also a danger of a kid getting their hands on the weapon. On the other hand as a senior friend of mine pointed out, if staff members had been armed, perhaps one of them could have taken the shooter out and saved some kids.
I taught elementary school for 40 years. Luckily we never had any type of situation like Sandy Hook. However, I would not be comfortable being armed in the classroom. There are just too many bad things that could happen. Adults can have bad days and might be tempted to "scare" some bullies. Students could accidentally get hold of the gun.
As far as if someone was armed, he might have been stopped. Or more might have been killed by people who are not used to using a gun.
I am not sure what the answer is, but armed teachers and staff is not it.
