I find no spark at all in this Will/Gabs/Nick SL. It’s actually tedious to watch at this point. Could Gabi be any more of a downer?
January 1, 2013 at 3:03 am #36988majencoParticipantI think we all know the truth is coming out. And Sami bursting in into the church and insisting on knowing what they are talking about! None of your business!
January 1, 2013 at 9:59 am #36989BonbonParticipantI really loved seeing Eric throw her out. But she still didn’t get the hint.
January 1, 2013 at 2:59 pm #36993PattiParticipantI’m over being tired of his indecisive nature throughout all of this, and he needs to either put up or shut up. As for Gabi and Nick (especially Nick), I would love to see the roof cave in on them, because what they are doing is not only going to affect Will, but a multitude of people. Boy, when this umbrella blows inside out in this perfect storm they’re so carefully trying to avoid, the outcome should be explosive for all, but I’m getting a little tired of waiting for it to get here.
As for Sami, so much for her reaching maturity at long last. Lord, that woman disappointed me yesterday. Kudos to Eric for physically removing her. Just wish he would have given her a swift kick on the way out the door, but that just would not bode well with the Church. I didn’t notice, doesn’t the rectory door have a lock on it? I guess I wouldn’t be so upset with her if her reasons were truly about protecting Gabi and Nick, but they’re not. Clearly it’s her way of keeping herself in Rafe’s orbit. She needs a "wake-up call" (and by that I mean a personal tragedy to put her thoughts and actions into proper perspective) like no other person on this show right about now. SO DO IT, WRITERS!
January 1, 2013 at 3:12 pm #36995BonbonParticipantThey were in the main part of the church. I don’t know what the Catholics call it but in my church it’s the sanctuary, so, no, there probably wasn’t a lock. But they SHOULD have been in the rectory for a talk like that.
I thought for sure Gabby was going to tell Eric, oops, I mean Father Eric. I think that would have been a good move for the writers. But I guess they have to drag it out still further.
January 1, 2013 at 4:02 pm #36996caseyParticipantWill needs to be more assertive, like he was when working for EJ. Aside from that, he’s typically been more meek in nature. And Nick has been a pretty intimidating force.
And Sami, as I said previously the writers traded her hysterics for this so annoying intrusive character. That performance in church was way too bizarre, making her out to look a fool.
Only Eric seems to be a voice of reason.January 2, 2013 at 1:55 am #36999luckeyParticipantthat meeting room is where they had the Pre-Cana session. It looks so much like the sanctuary without the pews. It’s very unusual for meetings like that to take place in the sanctuary of a Catholic church because the Body of Christ is housed on the altar in the tabernacle and is a place of solemnity. I’m thinking that Days is trying to save space, so used both sets taking the pews out and downplaying the location of the altar to make it look like a meeting room instead of the sanctuary.
January 2, 2013 at 2:38 pm #37006caseyParticipantI don’t know what Days is trying to portray in which room the Pre-Cana was. Was it supposed to be the room where the priests get robed for Mass and the sacramental vessels are, stored etc? That’s called the sachristy – definitely NOT for meetings.
And no way would it be the sanctuary as that is where the altar/tabernacle are. Once again Days mix n matching with no heed for the facts.January 2, 2013 at 5:31 pm #37011PattiParticipantit’s just an office.
January 2, 2013 at 9:42 pm #37016justwonderingParticipantAlthough they are portrayed as being Catholic, the church setting is not set up as a Catholic Church. First, the cross does not have a figure of Jesus on it, there are no kneelers for the pews, the red kneelers would not be in the front before the altar, the altar does not face the people, and there is no Tabernacle shown. Father Eric would NOT HAVE a purple stole around his neck for Christmas, it would have been white.
Also, the Pre-Cana "meeting" in the scene was held in the church proper. However, it would have been in the rectory in real like. I think it was just used so it was one set.
This is not the interior of a Catholic Church, it is more like a combination of Christan Churches.
January 3, 2013 at 8:22 am #37020BonbonParticipantwith your assessment that they are using the same set as different areas of the church and just another indication of the show ignoring realism.
I think there are times when you can totally ingore it but other times when you should try to do things as realistically as possible, i.e. medical…CPR for instance…legal (all the blue-backed documents they use went out 20 years ago), and I don’t think you mess around with religion.
