What an exciting finale in men’s skating last night. Nice, hard working guys sometimes do finish first!
The country is proud of all of our athletes, but you are by far superb at what you do. It’s our first men’s gold medal in figure skating since the 80’s; and, by the way, YOU DESERVED IT!!!!
I have seen a couple of the interviews with him after his winning and he has remained bith humble and gracious. A winner on and off the ice! This is the type of athlete that should get the media attention and the product endorsements.
The athlete that stands up there on the podium, waving the American flag, smiling, and robustly singing The Stars Spangled Banner, is the person that brings tears to my eyes and makes me proud to be an American, because I know they’re proud too. THAT’S the person I want to see representing us. And let’s face it, it’s the greatest nation in the universe! (Casting no aspersions on our Canadian – or those from other countries – friends out there.)
I think we’ve gone through this before but I still don’t understand why only people from the USA are called Americans when Canadians and Mexicans should also be. And, technically, even all the Central and South Americans should be called Americans too. I guess maybe because United Statesians is too awkward.
