Stefano’s line while he was on the phone with Marlena could very well have been the theme for yesterday’s show, and everyone gave their finest examples.
Sami, E.J., Brady, Kristen, Daniel, Jennifer; Chloe; Anne, Nicole and Eric; …. all gave perfect parallels for that line. Regardless of how right or wrong the choices of each of them may or may not be; regardless of how many others approve or disapprove of them because of their life choices and decisions; regardless of how many others try and come between them; regardless of how much manipulation and conniving others put into place and fail; regardless of how immoral and wrong these choices and decisions to act upon them may or may not destroy others if carried out …… if truth be told, the heart’s desire seems to be throwing caution into the wind on Monday’s show. I, for one, loved what I saw as a theme to Monday’s show and how each one was depicted.
I don’t know, maybe because it’s Valentines Day week, but I felt a great deal of very distinct hints to that line from Stefano to Marlena. I could actually see how this one line from the master villain himself pertained to each of them, and personally thought it was brilliant, while giving me more than just a little hope to believe the writers are now taking DOOL in the right direction, and yesterday was so designed to be a theme … depicting characters who, although not necessaryily correct in their thinking, cannot better prove by example the line …. "the heart wants what the heart wants." Good job, writers! I have not enjoyed the show this much in a very long time.
February 12, 2013 at 8:54 pm #37791MKParticipantVery well said, Patti and great insight. I had not even picked up on the theme, bit I too really loved yesterday’s show. Without trying to sound too mushy, I found your post itself beautiful. Awwwww! "The heart wants what the heart wants" sounds like what should be a title of a Hallmark movie.
February 12, 2013 at 9:36 pm #37792PattiParticipantwas even further evidence that somebody on that writing team is starting to get it. I’m really starting to love DOOL again, not necessarily because of WHOSE stories are on, but rather that they are picking up where they left off the day before. What I do not like is when I get really interested in something one day, and then the next day they hack into other story lines with different characters altogether, and I’m left scratching my head wondering what happened to the ones from the day or two before. Makes everything flow so much better …. CONTINUITY, writers. By George, I think they’ve got it! And, thanks, MK, for some very nice words.
February 12, 2013 at 10:37 pm #37796BonbonParticipantI can see everything you said…but…if people (other than you) don’t pick up on it, what good is it. Maybe it was too subtle. At least, I didn’t see it, even though it was there. I’m not putting this too well, I hope you know what I’m trying to say. Yes, it was good but how many people got it?
February 13, 2013 at 12:55 am #37804PattiParticipantI was simply expressing my opinion of how the current story lines or the lives of everyone in yesterday’s show could relate to that one line. It was just the way I saw it, not that I was expecting everyone, or even anyone else, to see it that way.
February 13, 2013 at 3:34 am #37810lynnekarenParticipantAlthough I got your sentiment. Sami, the bumbling idiot, wants to be ENGAGED four days after breaking up with Rafe & one day after sleeping with EJ. Totally ridiculous.
Chloe… still cannot act.
Brady should be wondering why someone so independent as Kristen is so determined & obsessed with getting married, ridiculous.
Nick/Will/Lucas, repetitive, yawn.
Nicole & Eric, no chemistry. So, I’m still not happy with the show
February 13, 2013 at 9:09 am #37816BonbonParticipantI thought they were great together. I’m sure I saw sparks jumping back and fourth there. But I don’t want him to act on it. I liked the way we got to see them together in Nicole’s mind. They should just keep it that way.
Is Eric going to change Nicole? In the end? I don’t think so. That would ruin Nicole’s character…for me, anyway. She may try to be "the good girl" but I don’t think it’ll happen.
February 13, 2013 at 2:34 pm #37831PattiParticipantI really don’t believe I could sit and watch a show every day that I had not one good thing to like about it. It would stress me out way too much. LOL!!
February 13, 2013 at 5:50 pm #37842DeeLanParticipantI use to love when the shows ended with a cliffhanger every day and picked it up the next. Made it so you couldn’t wait until it was on again to see what was going to happen In the last 15+ years you could miss an entire week and not miss anything.
February 13, 2013 at 10:51 pm #37849justwonderingParticipantI agree with you, Patti. Each of the scenes did tie in with that statement. It doesn’t matter if I love the scene, (Nicole and Eric), tolerate the scene (Jen/Daniel/ Chloe) or yell and throw things at the TV (Kristen/Brady) and especially (Sami/EJ), at least I am reacting to the show. And isn’t that the point?
No one will like all SL, but the idea is that there are enough stories to peak the interest of many different people. Right now, I do like the pace of the stories and look forward to watching each day. (I know that many will react differently but I even kind of liked Rafe and Kate.)
February 13, 2013 at 11:41 pm #37853BonbonParticipantThat they both played their scene very well, the thought of the two of them EVER ending up in bed together turns my stomach.
