Looks like Brandon went off the deep end last night. I think he must be manic/depressive. He sure showed classic symptoms of it with Philip. I give Philip a lot of credit by not being pulled into his tyrade at the reward challenge. And the girls were so very emotional, which didn’t look to me like it was being put on. Like Jeff asked, is it in the family blood. I think it must be.
Well, I’ve never seen that happen on Survivor before. I was almost thinking someone was going to come in and take him out, just for the physical safety of the team. He was dangerous. Not only that, if he had gone after Philip I’m afraid he’d have found himself in BIG hurt. I’m pretty sure Philip has had training for that and Brandon was just a little banty rooster street fighter. Weird, very weird.

Brandon has made other threats before this week, like peeing in the rice and causing physical harm to someone, but watching it up close and personal was very uncomfortable. Philip contained his self, but I don’t think it was because he wasn’t afraid to take him on ….. I think it was because he was. The one I give credit to is Jeff Probst for pulling him away from the other players and managing to keep him calm, rubbing his shoulders to get him to relax, and speaking to him in a very soothing manner, which in turn allowed him to think about what he was doing. You go, Jeff …. great job with this obviously sick young man who IS out of control with his life and needs professional help.
March 14, 2013 at 1:35 pm #38575MKParticipantWhat the heck happened??? I turned on the show at the point where Brandon was emptying the rice bin and was on a rampage. Did he and Phillip get in a fight or was Brandon mad at everybody? My mouth was hanging open the whole time.
March 14, 2013 at 2:06 pm #38576BonbonParticipantMK, Brandon and Philip had an argument and there was talk of voting Brandon off. Philip said he would throw the immunity challenge just so they could vote him off. So he went on a rampage pouring out all their rice and beans and yelling, "You want to throw me off, okay I’ll give a reason to throw me off." (Paraphrasing) He was way out of control and I don’t think it was staged either, he was really out of control.
Then, instead of throwing the challenge, the whole tribe told Jeff they forfeited and let the fans have it. There was a lot of tension and tears from a couple of the women, so Jeff held the tribal council right there and asked for everybody’s oral vote. They unamiously voted Brandon off. Jeff wouldn’t even let him go back to the camp to get his things.
Patti, I don’t think Philip didn’t take him on because he was afraid of Brandon, I think it was because he knew what he could do to him. I’m certain a trained agent would be very capable of doing severe bodily harm to a little pip-squeak like Brandon (I almost wanted to see him do it). I also liked the way he shut off Corrin so she wouldn’t argue with Brandon. I though Philip handled it very well.
If anybody missed it, it’s worth going online to see that episode…if you like drama. It’ll be interesting what they will say about it next week. That was certainly a ratings coup.
March 14, 2013 at 2:14 pm #38580MKParticipantThanks for the info, Bonbon! I did see the show from the rice-throwing-fit moment until the end, but didn’t know why or how it all happened, but now I know that Brandon and Phillip had a fight. But gee, to punish everybody in the tribe for his fight with Phillip is not cool.
March 14, 2013 at 2:16 pm #38581caseyParticipanthas won awards but he really deserved an Emmy for his handling of this potentially explosive situation. Boy, didn’t it make for great tv?
BTW, anyone know how the ratings are doing for Survivor vs Idol? -
