I don’t know about you guys, but I love to see the soft side of Melanie, the side where she acts all sweet and vulnerable. I really think that she is trying to make the best of things.
She is so cute when she wants to be.
As for Carly….I detest her, always have and always will. All this ranting and raving about her child, her daughter, give me a break….where were you 20 years ago…and every year since?
If anyone is hard to take it is Carly and her "neediness". And I can’t believe the writers made Bo fall for it again. I truly hope she gets what she deserves and goes to jail forever…..Then we can get the show back on track.

You have to wonder how she "got away" from Lawrence to go to a medical conference. She meets Daniel, gets drunk and sleeps with him and becomes pregnant. She is definetely a sl#%, besides all the other adjectives that describe her.
Now she’s telling that Lawrence beat her. How old is this son of hers supposed to be and where could he be now. You would think Vivian would have mentioned him and worried about him being without a father.
I don’t know about laws in other countries, so I wonder why no authorities from wherever she is from, have not come to Salem and arrested her.Seems like Vivian would have concentrated on having Carly arrested and taken back to her country instead of coming to Salem and trying the stupid stunts she has pulled.

February 27, 2010 at 12:31 pm #10881BonbonParticipantAlthough you know how convoluted ages can be on Days. He had an "affair" with Kate and also a short "fling" with Billie at the same time. In spite of that, he was never made out to be a bad guy or anything like that. And I believe he was mentioned by Viv once, when talking to Carly, albiet very briefly.
And nobody has come to arrest Carly because Vivian had someone "confess" to the murder to let Carly off the hook so Vivian could go after her and torture her. So, as far as the law is concerned, she is free and clear.
Lawrence didn’t start keeping her a prisoner until after the baby was gone. In fact she mentioned going to other conferences after that. I took it that his madness took hold gradually.
February 27, 2010 at 2:16 pm #10886PattiParticipantup until she shot Melanie. Accident or no accident, she should be held accountable for that, as well as violating the provisions of her bail; but, with the Commish in her corner, we can all probably assume that that will probably never happen.
March 3, 2010 at 11:46 am #11007Misty004ParticipantI think I remember him coming backa few years ago….I believe his name is Nicholas….he is all grown up. Didn’t Kate have a thing for and with him? That is what I am remembering.
March 3, 2010 at 10:14 pm #11029SWParticipantby now he should be in his late 30s to 40s but that wouldn’t make any more sense than when they aged him the first time! lol
March 4, 2010 at 12:13 am #11037GayleDownunderParticipantContrary to a lot of people here, I’m definitely a fan of the actress playing Melanie. I think she has that spark. When you see a bad actress/actor you sure know it. Remember a few years ago the person they got to play Belle for about two weeks? She was wooden, her voice was thick, she wandered around the set like she was lost, and well, she just made me laugh like a drain while simultaneously cringing. Melanie on the other hand is like a breath of fresh air. In fact, I think she’s way better than the plodding scripts and many of her plodding co-stars, who let’s face it, if they had set the world on fire in their careers wouldn’t be on a soap. There are people who come into soaps sometimes and you think–"wow, these people have something." The screen just lights up when they’re on. The fact that this actress polarizes people is testament to the fact that she stirs emotions. The very thing you want to do as an actor! There have been quite a few people who stood out over the years that were good enough to get into prime time and movies. Meg Ryan, Eva Longoria and Mark Valley are the ones that come to mind for me immediately. It was quite obvious when you watched them that they weren’t going to stay in soaps, because they had "star power". For me, the actress playing Melanie has star written all over her. I predict she’ll leave DOOL behind for a very solid career. (and I’m sure all you people who don’t like her will like that prospect just fine!)
March 4, 2010 at 12:43 am #11039BonoSugaRayParticipantMelanie is adorable! I’ve liked this character ever since she started ripping Stephanie (during the time when Steph was dating Max)! Awesome! I totally enjoy the character!
March 4, 2010 at 12:18 pm #11047BonbonParticipantLOL How funny that we’re now hearing how much people like Melanie yet it really wasn’t that long ago when EVERYBODY (and I don’t think I’m exagerating here) hated her, thought the actress was terrible, and wanted TPTB to get rid of her. But now, we’re hearing how much she is liked and what a good actress she is. Go figure.
I certainly can’t criticize anyone for these feeling though because I did the exact same thing when Brady first came on, yet, when they turned him into a "good guy," I did a complete 180° and had a totally different opinion of him. In fact, I felt similarily about Adrienne when she first started…she was horrible! That’s why I reserved judgement with Melanie. Although I can’t say that I particularily ‘like’ her yet, she has become tolerable. I hate what she does with her mouth and her voice is pretty much like fingernails on a chalk board.
March 4, 2010 at 2:13 pm #11054GoodyParticipantAs she began to change into a better, more caring person, I started to like her much more. Under Maggies guidance and love, Melonie has almost become a changed young person. I like her evolving womanhood, and I like that she brings out a completely different, more caring, happier Philip.
Goody
March 4, 2010 at 2:35 pm #11056BonoSugaRayParticipantI, for one, have never thought the Melanie character was horrible (backdate to some of my older posts regarding the character). Ever since she started being rude to Stephanie (during the time when Max and Steph went to country she was residing in), I was excited about her! She rocks!
