"I love you for who you are." MAGICAL!!!
Sami said it so well – so many people tell me they love me b/c they love a part of me, or who they want me to be or they try to change me….
That’s why I never liked her with Rafe. He so desperately wanted her to be someone she wasn’t. E.J. wants her as is – no questions asked.
LOVE THEM TOGETHER!!!
April 18, 2013 at 3:45 am #39310justwonderingParticipantSo sorry but I must disagree. Ej wants what he doesn’t have, once he has it, he grows tired of it. Right now EJ is boring a shadow of himself. Also Sami doesn’t want Ej to be who he is but who she wants him to be. I just cannot see them being happy for long.
April 18, 2013 at 11:16 am #39313rngatorParticipantremember hearing the same thing when she and rafe were together. they are not a super couple. they have not gone through "fire" to be together, as the older super couples did. i’m just waiting for the other shoe to fall on them.
April 18, 2013 at 1:06 pm #39318MKParticipantExcellent points, justwondering, especially the one about Sami not wanting EJ to be who he is. Maybe if she does that, this will work.
April 18, 2013 at 2:08 pm #39319PattiParticipantSami showing her vulnerability and admitting to E.J. how she always looked at her other proposals and the men who made them was terrific. It shows how much she has grown to me, and why she has, in her own way, forgiven E.J. for past actions he’s taken. E.J. could not have been more open and honest, and yes, I’m sure, others will never perceive him as "honest," but with Sami yesterday, he certainly was. He could have taken her anywhere in the world, but he took her to the one place where he knew it would matter to her the most….her family’s pub. He was romantic and yet I could see he was deeply touched. Yes, I felt he was more than sincere with admitting how much he loved her; he was true — true to Sami and to himself when he told her how he has always felt about Sami from the day he met her. It was a solid performance, well written, very well acted, and very loving and emotional. They HAVE forgiven each other, and if they can stay this way, it’s fine with me. If Sami and E.J. continue to live, love and respect one another in this way, yet still face the world head on, together, then they have a fan in me. I hope the writers continue to write them in this fashion, because they are a super couple for whatever that’s worth in soaps. I’m afraid poor Lucas is out of the running, no matter how much he tries to convince his self that he is over Sami. The reason I say this is because I read that BD has been put on "recurring" and we all know what that means for an actor in soaps. It means you’ll see him about once or twice a month, if at all. Besides, I’ve never been a fan of triangles, rectangles, or any other angles when it comes to who’s partnered up with whom. To me, a couple has always meant "two."
Incidentally, I love Ali Sweeney’s hair this color now. I hope she never goes back to that bleached blond hair color ever again. I think they’ve been showing her with a much more sophisticated look of late. Even her wardrobe has improved.
April 18, 2013 at 2:45 pm #39325lynnekarenParticipantRafe loved her and accepted her for who she was.
April 18, 2013 at 11:31 pm #39332TFlo1018ParticipantWe seem to be the only ones here PRO EJAMI!!!
Sorry RNGATOR but Rafe never loved her for who she was. He loved her for who he wanted her to be. And they (her and Rafe) were never that honest or vulnerable with one another. She viewed Rafe as a protector and I do believe she loved him – but there was ZERO fire or chemistry there, just as it was with Lucas.
I’m not sure entirely sure I agree a couple has to go through FIRE to be considered a supercouple. I’m not entirely sure Sueprcouples are even a "thing" on soaps these days. The dynamic of the genre has changed too much. However, I never really thought of Bo and Hope as having gone through "fire" to be together. Being a rich girl and a guy from the other side of town with long hair and a bike doesn’t make you a challenged couple. It’s very ROMEO and JULIET though for sure. I always felt that Kayla and Patch fought the odds as did Marlena and John. Bo/Hope not so much.
Not sure how long EJAMI will last but i’ll enjoy every minute of it while I have it.
April 19, 2013 at 1:32 am #39333majencoParticipantPatch and Kayla were the best supercouple!
April 19, 2013 at 2:28 am #39334justwonderingParticipantI really feel that Bo and Hope have been through plenty of fire. Hope was blown up, she was held prisoner with Stefano, she thought she was Princess Gina, she was with John, she was with Patrick. Bo believed that Hope was dead, he ended up with Billy, had a child together, then was with Carly, then Hope left him. So they sure have had their share of adversity.
As for Sami and her proposals, my favorite was Lucas’s proposal when he sang to her. Sami has had many suiters, usually ones that she has gone after for one reason or another. It is no secret that I don’t care for EJ. I feel that he always has an agenda. I really liked him with Nicole because he could be as bad as he wanted and SHE ACCEPTED HIM. But I don’t feel that Sami will be happy with EJ if he grows back his spine and becomes involved with fatha and the family business. If he doesn’t then he will be vey boring.
Actually, although I never thought I would, I like Rafe and Kate together!!
April 19, 2013 at 3:49 am #39335TFlo1018ParticipantI agree – Bo and Hope have been thru their fair share of stuff BUTTTTTTTTTTTT they were designated a supercouple LONG before all the things you listed which proves my point
Almost marrying Larry Welch and being snatched up on a bike does NOT constitute you going through "fire."
April 19, 2013 at 9:23 am #39336BonbonParticipantI think the day of the super couple is gone. When soaps were in their infancy on TV, the characters were all fresh and new and hadn’t been married (or forever committed) previously to multiple partners, i.e. Erica Kane. So when they fell it love, they were truly soul mates, committed forever, etc. That can’t be done anymore because there are no “virgin” characters. Everybody has professed their undying love to someone else one or multiple times before.
A good example is Sami. How many men has she told he was her soul mate and she would love him forever, blah, blah, blah? There just isn’t anybody left to be a super couple. They would have to bring on two new characters without any previous romantic background and with writing like they used to write and I’m not sure that’s even possible anymore.
April 19, 2013 at 1:47 pm #39341dvalParticipantI think Rafe and Sami had chemistry a plenty. And while I am enjoying this version of EJami, I don’t like EJ this way. He was more fun when I loved to hate him, now I just dislike him for being lifeless. He seems adrift in his love for Sami and has no real , well for lack of a better word, fire in himi right now. Just as you say Rafe wanted Sami to be different I think Sami wants the same thing for EJ and doesn’t really love him for who he is.
and on that topic I think Rafe did love Sami for all her faults. It was just when she was with him SHE WANTED to be better. Now she just listens to EJ and plays nicer even though underneath it all she is still the same Sami, I think. Now if they just let both of them be themselves, it could be a spitfire of a relationship. Yes they are cute together, and they seem to be working together but, just as when Will broached the subject to Sami of why EJ wanted to move back into DiMansion it caused her to question EJ, I don’t really think she trusts him underneath.
April 19, 2013 at 1:58 pm #39345PattiParticipanttrouble is writers today don’t present them like they did in the past. It’s more important for today’s writers to make it all about sex, multiple partners, lies, manipulations, affairs, and anything else they can think of to NOT create the everlasting romance. And the more sex scenes today to write, the better for today’s squires. They feel personal lives in a couple’s bedroom must be seen to be appreciated, and the more lies, cheating, manipulations, etc., etc., the better. They’re not soap operas any longer; they’re soft porn.
I know practically everyone despises E.J. and Sami, but I can think of a lot of other characters I would rather see less of on my relaxing soap hours than EJami. However, I am enjoying them now, which makes me believe that the writers are trying something new and different in presenting couples today, and it has to start somewhere, so they decided to start with the couple least likely to be depicted this way. I can honestly say that I do not believe that E.J.’s and Sami’s lives, together or individually, will ever be boring, but I do think this is what Corday had in mind when he said they were going with EJami lock, stock and barrel. Those who like them will continue to like them; those who don’t never will; but, Bonbon may be right. The days of Alice and Tom Horton are gone forever.
April 19, 2013 at 3:44 pm #39351DeeLanParticipantI have no opinion one way or the other about EJ, Sami or Ejami but I do think these 2 have been drawn together since the day they met. Yeah, we found out later that EJ picked Sami out in order to fulfill his father’s order to impregnate any Brady woman but he must have seen something in Sami to pick her.
Sami and Austin was a teenage crush on her part. Sami and Franco was a set up. She may have thought she loved him in the beginning but by the day of the wedding it was blackmail and animosity between them. i do Sami and Brandon was just another one of her lusts or crushes. Sami and Lucas I believe was planted in both of their minds by Austin and Carrie. They were told that they had feelings for each other and even though they knew each other better than anyone else and were friends it really wasn’t there, they just believed it was.
So, I do believe there is an attraction between Sami and EJ that wasn’t there with anyone else, they know what makes the other tick, they know what they’re capable of when they’re angry or at their most plotting, self destructive selves yet they both accept each other and care for each other in spite or because of it. Are they a supercouple? I don’t know but they will always be drawn back to each other.
April 19, 2013 at 7:02 pm #39354lynnekarenParticipantthe exact same thing. This is exactly how I see it too.
