Daniel really went off on Carly because she didn’t tell him he was Melanie’s father yet he doesn’t seem too anxious to tell anybody either. And Victor asked him point blank, "and what does Melanie mean to you?" I don’t understand his reasoning for holding back, heck, especially with Chloe. Which is another story all together. If she gets up on her high horse because Daniel has a child and she can’t have one, OMG, someone ought to send her back to pre-school…Kindergarten is too advanced for that type of jelousy.
I can understand his being upset that Carly never told him he was the father. He should have known and been allowed to make the choice whether to be involved in her life or not. That was taked from him.
As far as telling others that’s not their business as it doesn’t affect them one way or the other with the exception of Chloe. Besides Melanie doesn’t know yet so how can he tell everyone in Salem before she knows. That girl has been through enough drama, disappontment and surprises that would drive anyone insane.

I definitely don’t think he’d want to tell Victor, when Vivian is standing right there. And, I have to agree with DeeLan and Patti, he wants the chance to tell Mel herself and before he does that, he’s not going to want to spread the word and have her find out from someone other than him. I think he’s doing the right thing and I don’t think he’s been a hypocrite at all.
He wants to tell Mel before he tells anyone else. I think he wanted to talk with Chloe too, but Carly kind of got to her first. If he tells Victor it will be all over the place and Mel might find out before Daniel can tell her himself. I think he is handling this the right way and is not a hypocrite at all.
