The east coast continues to get slammed with snow. My area is execting a foot tomorrow. One storm after another – three this week! What a winter. But nothing compared to the scary drought out west. How are you Californians holding up? I wish we could ship this excess precip out to you.
February 5, 2014 at 1:38 am #42687PattiParticipantfirst snow prediction was mostly rain here in Baltimore, with several inches of snow in our western counties. Tonight, sometime after 10:00 p.m., we are supposed to be hit with what I consider much worse than snow …. a severe ice storm. Maybe we’ll get lucky here with that one as well.
February 5, 2014 at 3:25 am #42691goodolddaysParticipantThe forecast keeps changing here in western PA. We were supposed to have snow and ice tonight but nothing yet. Maybe tomorrow. It keeps getting pushed back – maybe we won’t get it at all!
February 5, 2014 at 1:57 pm #42695caseyParticipantice is just the worst!
February 5, 2014 at 3:44 pm #42700PattiParticipantthese weather people never cease to amaze me. The sleet and freezing rain began around 10:00 p.m. last night, the schools are mostly all closed in Maryland, and right now (10:45 a.m.) the sun is shining, the ground is wet but not icy, and temps are due to hit 48 degrees by noon. Go figure!!! These poor kids will be going to school all summer this year if these kind of forecasts continue.
February 6, 2014 at 2:40 pm #42711MKParticipantGot a foot of snow yesterday in Wakefield, MA. Did lots of shoveling. Tired today. Since last Saturday, the mets kept talking about a possible gigantic storm this coming Sunday. There were two systems, that if combined, would create a megastorm. Today, they are saying we will miss one and get the second system to our south as a little light snow on Sunday. They couldn’t even let us get through one storm at a time–they had to just keep talking about Sunday’s possible storm for over a week and they didn’t even know what it was going to do! They just want everyone to panic–it’s all about hype.
February 6, 2014 at 3:28 pm #42713PattiParticipanthere in Maryland; but, honestly, I’m to the point where I’ll believe it when I see it.
February 6, 2014 at 9:21 pm #42716BonbonParticipantI’ve noticed the past couple of years how they seem to sensationalize every single little thing about the weather on TV. Here, any little puff of wind is hyped like a full-blown hurricane on the way. And the persistent interruption of TV programs because it’s raining out…holy cow, is that really necessary? In the summer it rains here practically every day.
February 6, 2014 at 10:10 pm #4271753tdogsParticipantotherwise it’s bone dry. Thanks for the idea of shipping us some of your snow and ice. Up to now, I’ve been wearing shorts and not using the heater except for a smidge for a couple of days. Interesting to see what’s going to happen this summer during fire season since we are like dust in our snow pack.
February 7, 2014 at 1:38 pm #42731caseyParticipantsome substantial precip – now the concern is too much at once!
February 13, 2014 at 2:24 pm #42798PattiParticipantalready upon us here in Maryland, with at least another 6 inches predicted through today. Glad I don’t have to be out in it. Right now we’re experiencing an ugly mix of snow and freezing rain. Princess, my poor little cockapoo, is 15 years old and refuses to go out into the snow, so looks like I’ll be cleaning up more than one puddle today. I’m well stocked food-wise, and waiting for this mess to turn back into an all-snow day any minute now, or at least that’s what the forecast is, and continue through most of the day. God, I’m so sick of this stuff, and we’re only in mid-February. Poor kids will have no summer vacation to speak of this year if this keeps up.
February 13, 2014 at 4:08 pm #42801caseyParticipantthose dealing with thick ice. For once, my neck of the woods got no affects from this.
February 14, 2014 at 5:53 am #42806BonbonParticipantlast Sunday and he said it was pouring…finally. It’ll be good for the ski areas also. My niece works at Squaw Valley and wasn’t getting many hours of work. Makes it hard for a young woman to live by.
And here we sit, in beautiful South Florida, with temps in the 80s. I guess I’ll just have to invite all you snowy people down here to thaw out and soak up some sun. Excuse me now, I have to go out and skim the leaves off the pool. ;o)
February 14, 2014 at 3:41 pm #42815MKParticipantWow, you guys got hammered! We got about 8" of snow north of Boston yesterday and it was heavy. Did lots of shoveling but am surprisingly not sore. I must be so conditioned from all the shoveling this winter. Supposed to get another storm tomorrow evening. I can’t even deal with this anymore.
February 14, 2014 at 10:45 pm #42822PattiParticipantit’s beautiful today, near 50 degrees and lots of melting going on. Most of the streets and sidewalks in the city are clear, and the weather has been actually mild today. Crazy!!!
