Abby – you mean to tell me you NEVER heard of a kid getting hit with a belt?  She WAY over-reacted at the news that Ben got hit by his dad.  Listen, my parents NEVER put their hands on me but I certainly know people who did.  Her reaction was so absurd.

Hope – YOU are the parent.  Ciara reacted like most kids but you CONTINUE to allow this kid to parent you.  That stuff irks me in real life – so I HATE seeing it playout on screen.

Eve – You know Paige is 18 right?  Marybeth – smart people take birth control.  JJ – Jack was a rapist, NOT you.  Talk about trying to make a story out of nothing.  Zzz….

I was thinking the same thing about Abby.  I am totally against any physical punishment for kids but in my youth getting a swat with "the strap" was a fairly common practice.  I get not agreeing but her reaction was as if he had been hit with a bat rather than a belt.

don’t call her “Saint Abbey” for nothing. The character is a royal pain in my a$$; I just can’t stand her. But then, I look at her mother and I sort of feel I have to give her a pass sometimes.

too. Does he truly think he has “inherited” the rape gene? It’s not as if his dad was Jack the Raper. Of course he should be upset over what Jack did – to a family member especially – but his reaction of pulling away from Paige and showing such angst over tellng her is getting on my nerves.

I think that Abigail’s reaction to Ben’s story about bing hit by a belt has to do more with her age than the amount of physical.

Anyone over 40 can relate to being punished by a spanking, strap, switch, paddle (even in school), ruler(favorite of nuns), and from where I live a "cat of nine"tail, which was a whip like instrument with several leather straps connected to it. However, people Abigail’s age were given time out, grounded, and generally not physically punished.I think that is why she reacted like she did, although a bit over the top reaction.
