Ask and we shall receive, I guess! I know I’ve been asking for new writers. Well, it’s happened. Tomsell OUT, Higley and Griffith IN.
Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell have been canned. Dena Higley and Josh Griffith are the new head writers effective February 16th.
Let’s just hope Josh Griffith has the power here, folks, or at least equal say in writing, because from what I can remember, Dena Higley (who was also fired) was not a huge success in the HR department either, and she was not a fan of John and Marlena, IIRC. She wrote for DOOL in 2003 then again from 2008-2011. Griffin, however, does have a pretty good track record, as far as I can tell. He wrote for General Hospital; As The World Turns; One Life to Live; Santa Barbara; Hollywood Heights, and was Head Writer for The Young and the Restles from 2012-2013. Anyway, looks like we are going to definitely see some change-ups coming our way over the next several months, so what we are seeing was taped 5 months ago (UGH). I do imagine changes are in the making as we speak, but it might be hard to tell unless we get this huge exodus of cast (getting a pink slip) down the road. At this point, I’m willing to accept anything to keep DOOL afloat.

DH write when she was on? What were her BIG storylines from 08-11 ? Save me a google search Patti LOL
because some of her work was also written with Tomsell, who were writers when she was here as well. Plus, a lot of her stuff was taken from Sheffer sls, and a good deal of her writings were done as a "scab" when the strike was on and she wrote for her husband. But, from what I can remember, some of her work included these sls (and some with Tomsell as well):
1. Safe (She loved them), which is why GG is now on twitter (as well as his wife) singing her praises and thanking someone from above indicating it’s about time. LOL!
2. She is very fond of AZ (which is a good thing AFAIC);
3. Carbo-2 (Bo/Carly) the second time around;
4. Robo John (Ava Vitali as lover and brother of Stefano DiMera);
5. I think she may have written the Johnny eye cancer and loss of his eye storyline, but I’m not sure aout this one.
6. Nicole Sydnapping;
7. I think she created Sonny Kiriakis;
8. Definitely the plane crash resulting in the death of Shawn, Sr.
9. War between DiMera/Kariakis
10. Early EJAMI as a couple;
11. Night-time Hope;
12. Baby switch with Sami’s and Mia’s babies.
These are some I think I recall. She has always loved SAFE; EJAMI; AZ; GG; but not so much the DH’s, although I think she wrote more for John than Marlena.

I’m very ANTI SAFE sine I’m PRO EJAMI!!! But I like a lot of the other stuff. The Ava V. shit was a bit too GENERAL HOSPITAL for me – but on the whole that is a pretty good list.
I’m not a fan of DH’s either – well, not how they have been written lately. The last time I liked John n Marlena were the late 90s. Since then they have been props. Waste of salary if you’re not gonna use em AFAIC.
But I guess any change is good considering the blah we have been fed lately.
Sami & Rafe isn’t an option, I’m ok with the rest! Pleeeeeeaaaasssseeeee let Nicole have a good, decent story and give the girl a break!!! Ugh.
her own son is autistic. I can’t say any of these storylines listed have been anything memorable or are they giving me anything to look forward to. But, I do think it’s a good idea every once in a while to bring in a new broom.
veru close to her since she has an autistic child; however, the best thing about that s/l for me was Lexi.
However, we still have 5 months of old writers so it will be a some time before you see the new material.
I think the current writers have done some really good stuff. I liked the doughnut episode, the climax of the first return of Kristen Dimera, the fake episode when Sami found out Abigail was pregnant and threw her off the stairs. The storyline when Sami found out EJ was cheating on her and married him anyway just to get revenge. Gabi letting Nick think he was manipulating her and turning around and killing him. But those episodes were mostly during sweeps and all the stuff in between can be REALLY BORING. Is it worth yawning through 95% of the episodes to see 5% really fun episodes? I think they’ve done a better job of keeping me guessing (on some things) more than any set of writers in a long time.
