I know that it was for dramatic use, I know that it was for suspense use, I get that, but what I’m getting at is that when Aniston passed, look at what they had done, to explain Victor’s death, they better not go there for Doug’s death, meaning, inflicting bodily harm to him to explain Doug’s death, they already got the National Debt of backlash for putting the fire into play, then the backlash for destroying the bric-a-brac that was owned by Alice & Tom, can you imagine the backlash that Seaforth would unleash on to the show if they inflict bodily harm on Bill, given that he was her husband?
February 16, 2024 at 7:51 am #60862mommytutuParticipantI am hoping that because Susan is still on the show, they will be incredibly respectful of the way they explain Doug’s death. BTW, that won’t happen until after May, because Doug’s last scenes will happen in May.
February 16, 2024 at 3:39 pm #60863zodiacpisces1971ParticipantBut with Maggie still with the show, they still allowed her to learn that bodily harm was inflicted on Victor when they played up the plane being sabotaged, right? What makes you think that they won’t inflict bodily harm to Bill’s Doug, when this show inflicted bodily harm on Will, when they allowed the strangulation & then inflicting the memory erasing drug on him, no matter if the character or the actor is still alive or not, right?
February 17, 2024 at 8:34 am #60864mommytutuParticipantSuzanne Rogers is not really married to John Aniston. Susan Seaforth Hayes is really Bill Hayes’s wife. Big difference.
February 17, 2024 at 12:19 pm #60866doolfanParticipantVictor was a man with a huge international business empire and friends and enemies all over the world. Based on his business and personal history, I can see Days turning his death into several storylines, including his death in a plane crash caused by sabotage.
However, Doug doesn’t have such a colorful background so no need to do anything but a respectful passing and celebration of his life. With his real wife Susan on the show, I would hope she gets final approval of how they treat Doug’s passing. If she’s happy with it, so am I.
February 17, 2024 at 5:14 pm #60868zodiacpisces1971ParticipantI’m not saying that Suzanne was married to John, now am I? What I am bringing up is that to explain Victor’s death & Aniston’s death, they still inflicted bodily harm on the character. You tell me, I bet your bottom dollar that Aniston’s widow refers to Suzanne as John’s other wife, & they still allowed the character of Maggie to envision bodily harm onto her husband, no matter if the actors aren’t married to each other or not, right?
February 18, 2024 at 9:00 am #60869mommytutuParticipantJohn Aniston’s wife died in 2022. Also, even if she were alive, she’s not on Days. She wouldn’t have to mourn him twice. Susan Seaforth Hayes is on the show. She has mourned him in real life and she will have to mourn him twice. I’m sure TPTB will be respectful.
February 18, 2024 at 3:06 pm #60870zodiacpisces1971ParticipantWhat makes you think that they will be, yes Chandler Massey is alive & well, but that’s not the point, the point is that they did bodily harm to Will more than once, the serum that simulated that he died, then inflicting bodily harm when Ben tried to strangle him, they had him strangled again to get him to remember Sami & then he himself inflicted bodily harm on himself yet again, by using the antidote on himself that led to his tumor in which he flatlined, it doesn’t matter if he’s amongst the living, what matters is the more than once he inflicted bodily harm on his own self & that’s what happened with Victor, they subjected him to bodily harm to play up the actor’s death. So you tell me how that they should be allowed do that? Don’t you dare bringing up splitting hairs, just because Massey’s alive.

February 18, 2024 at 5:23 pm #60873doolfanParticipantI don’t understand why inflicting bodily harm is an issue for you. I can understand not wanting Doug to be subjected to it since Susan is still on the show and Doug is a beloved character. However, Victor dying in a plane crash isn’t surprising given the characters history. We didn’t see the crash, only heard about it later. The show had a nice memorial service for Victor.
Also, the show has inflicted bodily harm on many characters, some who survived and some who didn’t: Daniel Jonas, Sarah’s baby, Adrienne, EJ, Stefan, Beau, Ben’s victims, etc.February 19, 2024 at 7:23 am #60874zodiacpisces1971ParticipantDaniel died in a car accident caused by Eric, but Shawn Christian didn’t.
The actor that played Sarah’s baby Mickey, didn’t die, the character of Mickey, did.
Judi Evans didn’t die, Adrienne did. Feuerriegel didn’t either, neither did Barash, what I’m getting is that when Victor the character died, they inflicted bodily harm on him, yes, Aniston died, but he might died in his sleep, what I’m getting at is that just because the actor died peacefully, doesn’t mean their characters have to have bodily harm subjected on to them, now does it?February 19, 2024 at 7:23 am #60875zodiacpisces1971ParticipantDaniel died in a car accident caused by Eric, but Shawn Christian didn’t.

You’re comparing mostly living people whose characters died to real humans who died. It really doesn’t matter how the characters come to an ending, as long as we don’t just have them disappear. I still think with SSH being on the show, Doug’s death will be dignified. As for John Aniston, I wasn’t upset that they had him die in a plane crash. That made it seem like Victor was full of vim and vigor when he died. None of us had to have a long drawn out illness when in real life John Aniston was dead. I’m just glad we didn’t have him out of town or resting in his room for years. One character that I didn’t like the death of, was Stefano. That was absolutely awful how we had him on the run for years. Then when we finally get his “death,” they supposedly got all of his memories and personality on a flash drive implanted in Steve’s head. Talk about a crappy storyline. They should have respectfully let Joe Mascolo’s character die instead of the sci-fi crap they gave us.
February 19, 2024 at 10:33 am #60877doolfanParticipantCan you make your main point in one or two sentences?
February 19, 2024 at 3:13 pm #60878zodiacpisces1971ParticipantThe main message of mine is respecting the characters. Meaning, that once the performer passes away, if they pass away peacefully, let the character die that way, look at what they had done to Jackie Zeman’s Bobbie on General Hospital. No one knew what she died of, but the character of Bobbie was involved with ending human trafficking, but she died before sending papers to one of the women that she rescued from the human trafficking, one of the reporters that covered that story came out of the woodwork ending up being the actress that originally played her daughter, B.J. the one who’s heart was given to Maxie Jones. What I’m getting at is allow the character of Victor on Days to die peacefully, given I’m sure that Aniston did as well, then play up the visages of all of the memorable that showed the best of the character. You don’t inflict bodily harm on the character, no matter if it’s for dramatics or not. That’s what I’m getting at.
