Well, alrighty, then!  My thoughts on this are just because she admits to all now that she knew her child didn’t die, but she felt she was too young and ill-equipped to raise a child ….. well, guess what writers; that’s no sin to me.  I mean what’s wrong with giving your child up for adoption, at least when you are 17, disabled, and don’t even know your baby daddy’s last name?  Just another excuse to destroy Maggie Horton even more than they already have, for me at least.  Now, that being said, it still does not prove to me that Summer is that daughter.  Marie Wilso is and never has been on contract, and has always been declared "short-term" so I’m still expecting (or at least still hoping) that something will happen to prove Summer is not that child.  So I guess in my mind’s eye all that this sl did was further shock and surprise me that Maggie chose to hide her teen pregnancy and then lied about the whole thing all these years.  I’m still not seeing any proof that Summer is not a con.  Otherwise, when and how will she be leaving the show, because she will be leaving at some point.

I think it would make more sense if summer was magpies grandchild, or at least another missing egg

She was indeed in a tough place and it was a tough choice, but she made it. As an adoptive mother, I am very greatful that my daughters birth mothers made that choice. I cannot see how anyone could condemn Maggie for making that choice,  and as for lying about it, Maggie has felt shame about an out of wedlock baby because in that era, attitudes were different (going by the age Summer should be, not the age she is cast).  Maggie is older than me by a couple of  years, but until the 70s  adopton was almost often done with agreat deal of secrecy. So I cannot see how this destroys Maggie

and when I say Maggie Horton is being destroyed, I certainly did not mean it to be because of her decision to give her baby up for adoption; I think my post clearly said that I see that as no sin for her circumstance at the time.  What I meant by Maggie Horton being destroyed was the history of the character in that writers simply decide to do a 180 on a character’s history without even a nod to it.  Perhaps I’m not explaining myself properly.  It’s the history of the character that I feel was being destroyed, not the decision she made as a young pregnant teenager, although it would have been better if she had revealed this to someone over the years, like Mickey, Julie, or anyone close to Maggie, who has always been perceived to be the family matriarch who holds a family together after Alice Horton died.  So, IMO, changing her storyline at this late date, even with saying Victor Kiriakis is the true "love of her life" just makes me smdh with the writers of soaps.  By the way, I hope I have not offended you with my feelings on adoption, because that was not the intention of the post.  I concur with your decision to adopt and congratulate you.

This is real retro history.  I was watching Days during the original Marty/Maggie storyline.  The red shoes element and every other problem during the 70’s.  I can’t believe that Maggie would never have mentioned giving up a child.  They have now made Maggie a liar which is just not her character.
