Rafe has been trying to find Anna so he can arrest her. Now he knows exactly where she is and and instead of arresting her and bringing her back to Salem, he’s playing cat and mouse, using Caliope. I don’t get it. Oh, wait, they couldn’t bring Caliope back if he did that.
Speaking of Caliope, does anyone else think her acting seems kind of forced? I’m getting the feeling like she is brand new at acting and having a hard time with it. I know she’s always been kind of kookie but this is somehow different. I can’t put my finger on it but I feel uncomfortable for her. Is it just me? And where are her trademark outrageous earrings?
I think she is exactly the same as she used to be! This is Calliope as she was. Saw Arleen Sorkin on a rerun of Frasier one time and she was nothing like this. I think Rafe just wants to be sure he has physical proof before he brings Anna back and the DiMera’s get to her.
but hopefully it won’t be for too long. She has one of those voices that I can only take for so long, forced or not, real or not. She’s like Fran Dressher (sp?) to me, whose voice when she was starring in the Nanny, had the same effect on me … like bamboo shoots under your fingernails. In many instances I feel that way about Molly Burton as well … but not all of the time. Sometimes she speaks and acts like a 19 year old instead of like a 6 year old (but not often enough). Anyway, Calliope is the first of many who may surprise us with her return to Salem, but I will say one thing for her ….. the woman’s wardrobe is still the same. Wonder if we’ll be seeing Eugene.
I thought her acting seemed uncomfortable with Anna, but I attributed it to the fact that Rafe had her all wired up and basically backed into a corner because of her tax problems. She’s not happy ratting out a friend, therefore the "bit stiff" acting – she wasn’t quite sure how to get all the answers from Anna.
I haven’t missed a single day of Days, so where and how did Rafe connect with Caliope? Caliope is acting rather strange.
I don’t think he wants to arrest Anna as much as find out that EJ was the mastermind behind the kidnapping. He knows Anna’s not smart enough to do it on her own. I’m sure he’d let Anna go if he could get the goods on EJ.
they are on a cell-phone in stores: loud enough for the world to hear their conversations! It’s like she is afraid Rafe can’t hear what Anna is saying but it comes across as weird and annoying.
Rafe has suspected for a very long time now that E.J. was involved, but he doesn’t have proof. For Rafe, Anna is the bait to trap E. J., not her. What I don’t understand is Rafe’s persistence to get it on tape. Once Anna is brought in, she’ll take E.J. down with her; she’s always said that, and I don’t think Anna will back down from that, unless, of course, Stefano gets to her first. How in the hell does he get his information so fast? The busted pipe in Sami’s apartment to keep her at the mansion was laughable to me. Does he have hidden cameras in every room of the mansion to be able to see and hear everything going on so that he can intercede at any time he chooses? I wouldn’t put it past him.
Queen of the Night? So no, I wouldn’t put it past Stephano or now EJ even to have wall to wall camera’s – couldn’t EJ see everything in Sami’s house through the computer just a few weeks ago? And I’ll bet they called in their own "plumber" to "fix" the pipe…
I watched part of Wednesday’s show last night and that was her first scene I think – or at least her first one with Anna. (I got behind in my viewing so I deleted some eps and picked up this week).
To me she seemed *exactly* like the old Calliope – kind of eccentric and definitely over the top. Just the way I remember her. I thought to myself that for a character that hasn’t been seen in a long time, she was just the same as she always was.

and now she is supposed to lead Anna to spill everything. Calliope would never know how to be subtle; she always came on like gang busters saying whatever crossed her mind. That is one reason this character was always so endearing. But it was cuter on a younger actress.
I agree. I cannot stand her acting. I liked her back in the day, but she does seem strange. Her voice is weird and everything seems fake.
I used to like her but with this recent appearance she seems to be screaming her lines all the time and it’s very irritating.
I don’t see any difference in her voice or looks but she just isn’t the same ol’ lovable kook she used to be. I won’t care when she’s gone.
In defense of TPTB though, we’re always raving about how much we enjoy having the old characters back. They are probably trying to accomodate us. So, as much as I thank them for that, they can pass on Caliope and bring on the next one. Eugene would be a good try. He used to be all over the tube but I haven’t seen him for a long time now. Maybe he made enough money to quit the business or he could be working behind the scenes.
the next character (who I know a lot of us loved) we will see in South America with Rafe will be Shane Donovan, who will be staying with the show for some 10 episodes or so. He’s still ISA and will be working with Rafe. Lots of ways they could take this, i.e., the kidnapping reveal, which is growing extremely stale IMHO; the truth behind the Madeline/Kate/Stefano secret (which will be revealed soon – I think this Friday is the reveal), the muggings, or Ariana if, in fact, he had anything to do with her jail term for her drug dealings. I read something to the effect of Ariana’s past coming back to haunt her. Maybe that will be Shane Donovan.
