Is this SL ever going to progress? There’s everyone talking to her about it but I don’t see much drama here.
Jennifer’s addiction problem for May sweeps. She’s still in denial and still lying her way out of it when anyone tosses an accusation her way. If she’s been going to "meetings" as she told Chad, why have we not seen that? She definitely kows she has a problem.
We haven’t seen much that’s obvious except her guzzling down pills. By now this should be ramping up in her behavior.
but I think people can masquerade that there is a problem, unless they are stumbling all over themselves, which she’s not doing. Having access to the pills are the reason why it can’t be detected. So is she getting high on her own supply; is she stealing drugs from the hospital? I can’t imagine any doctor would keep her on opiates without putting her through tests to show why she still needs them. That being said, as long as she has continued access to the pills, she won’t show any symptoms associated with withdrawal.
My husband had a knee replacement surgery 2 weeks ago, and the surgeon was surprised that he hadn’t used up the 75 pain pills he prescribed and even asked if he needed a refill. He is only using about 2 pills a day. The physical therapist said he could use 1 or 2 pills every 4 – 6 hours.
This year I’ve undergone several procedures for my back and had my thyroid removed within a month I received 3 prescriptions for Norco. I filled one, but didn’t use it because I didn’t think my pain was unbearable or needed a heavy duty pain killer. I just shredded the other two prescriptions. I think doctors prescribe pain killers way too easily and a lot of people take them because they’re available.
In Florida, which has the absolutely most strictly controlled laws of any state, all you have to do is go to a pain management doctor and convince him/her you are in pain and you get your prescrition refilled with no problem. The only test required is a quarterly urine test to make sure you are not taking any other opiates.

However, I have been on morphine six times a day for over two years now and I freely admit if I were to stop I would definitely go into withdrawal but as long as I stay on my prescribed dosage, I’m okay. The docttor says a person is drug "dependent," but not addicted unless your life revolves around getting your next dose and you will lie, cheat and steal to get them. Then you have a problem.
As far as I can see with Jen, as long as she is still in pain and is taking them according to her prescribed dosage, she does not have a problem nor is she addicted. If we see her start buying off the street or forging prescriptions, then people should start to worry about her. This is a misconception many people have.
handling it okay and we’re not seeing a cause and effect (enough to make great drama) then it’s what’s the point. I have to believe Days is just waiting to focus on this. But I feel they are trying to juggle too many balls and watering down this show instead of zeroing in on a handable number of characters/SLs and making the viewer anxious to see the next day’s installment.
