I can’t stand much more of this girl. Classic case in fact: Stephanie, Nathan and Melanie in staff lounge when the stupid letter was being discussed: Malanie to Stephanie: "Are you going to tell him, Stephanie, or should I"; next case in fact: Melanie, Stephanie and Maggie in hospital after the ridiculously described "catfight" (more like tug-o-war over a purse) over the birth control pills: Melanie to Stephanie: "Are you going to tell her, Stephanie, or should I"? I guess the next one will be a scene with her, Carly and Daniel when she finds out about Carly and Phillip’s pity sex, which you know she will. Let’s set the scene, shall we: Carly, Melanie and Daniel… Mel’s line to Carly: ‘are you going to tell my father, or should I?’ Honestly writers, is anybody proofing the pathetic, repetitive dialogue for this girl’s scenes? I don’t know, maybe it’s her best line delivery, but I need this character to either say what’s on her mind or STFU!!! Maybe if she concerned herself with her own husband’s feelings over her obsession with Nathan and Stephanie, he wouldn’t have had to cheat on her with Chloe — and what is wrong with you people (writers) anyway????? Can’t we have just one happy, FAITHFUL couple on this show? I know, I know, it’s SALEM. But it’s not PEYTON PLACE, damn it.
May 24, 2010 at 3:48 pm #13107MKParticipantI totally agree. Not only that, the way she talks/makes faces annoys me at times. I do like her better now than when she first came on to the show. But I think the acting style and/or character irks me sometimes. I don’t dislike her, but I find her squeaking (yes, I call it sqeaking when her voice goes so high) and her faces so exaggerated at times. I like that she is very expressive but sometimes it seems like it’s a bit over the top. I guess I’m contradicting myself when I say I like that she is a breath of fresh air because she is different than a lot of characters in the way she says and expresses things and at the same time these very same things can be annoying.
May 24, 2010 at 4:25 pm #13108annieoParticipantIt’s not only Melanie that’s repetitive. The EJ/Sami storyline is getting on my last nerve as well. How many children are living in two homes because of custody agreements after a divorce? It’s not a good situation – I think it’s too easy to get a divorce these days instead of working toward a solution – but staying in the same house "because of the children" is such a dumb storyline. We all know it’s to get EJ and Sami together. I don’t even watch except maybe once a week. It’s like every day it’s the same stuff. I’d rather read Prevuze to know what happens. It makes me wonder why any of us watch it – it’s a bad habit that’s gone on for years and even though we know it’s bad, we can’t break it!
May 24, 2010 at 4:55 pm #1311053tdogsParticipantMy first Day’s was June 23, 1991. I have been fighting to stop every Monday through Friday for 19 years now. I have tried to quit cold turkey, but the VCR and now DVR have been a monkey on my back enabling my Day’s fix…
I’ve tried to gradually wean myself off Day’s by reading Salem Place and other sites and not turning on the t.v. to watch the show…but I can’t help myself.
I have gone seven days at a time by flying to Maui for a change of scenery…but the VCR and DVR sit there blinking in the dark, knowing I’ll be back…
I’ve sat through endless story lines of he said, she said, they all said…I’ve sat through story lines like a woman becoming possessed, I’ve sat through a baby being kidnapped story. I’ve sat through a woman who didn’t know who she thought she was who she was story. I’ve sat through several story lines of he’s dead, but he’s not dead, but he died but there he is. I’ve sat through she’s married to him, but loves the other guy who’s in love with this other girl, who’s in love with this other guy…
Oh help me………..I’ve said I’d quit a million, zillion times at the rediculousness of the story’s and here I am…if anyone can kick the Day’s habit, let me know! But then, I don’t think I really want to – I’m kinda hoping that there is a room in heaven where there’s a flickering t.v. for an hour a day for eternity….heh! I TOLD you I was addicted! It’s just not a bad habit with me.
May 24, 2010 at 7:02 pm #13114Misty004ParticipantActually I am getting kinda fond of her. I love her innocence…her good nature…she has an endearing quality to her.
May 24, 2010 at 7:45 pm #1311553tdogsParticipantbut if they (writer’s) keep her little squeeker cutiepie act up much longer – I will have to FF’d through her scenes as well…if they won’t let Sami grow up after 15 years – can you imagine how sugary sweet Melanie will be after a number of years – it makes my teeth ache! I think Mel has potential if the writer’s would just write a decent script for her…they’ve run through the gamut of little vixen vamp to cutie cluelessness, let’s let her start at least to be a responsible adult in the future.
May 25, 2010 at 11:23 am #13118BonbonParticipantWelcome to DAA (Day’s Addicts Anonymous)
We feel your pain. Be strong and take one day at a time.
May 25, 2010 at 4:21 pm #13122luckeyParticipantrecord it everyday and every evening when I hit the bedroom to watch any shows that I’ve recorded that day, I cringe when I think of playing back Days. It’s a real, physically sick feeling that makes me not want to watch, but I just can’t overlook that display on the list of what I’ve recorded. Of course, I do FF’d quite a bit; so, I get through it quickly. Sometimes I actually wish they would cancel the show, so I would be done with this addiction!
May 25, 2010 at 7:07 pm #1312453tdogsParticipantit’s good to know there are others out there too and I’m not the only one.
May 25, 2010 at 8:38 pm #13130PattiParticipantwhen she is in some sort of confrontational scene, like she was today (Tuesday) with Nicole. She was sensible as all hell while she was humiliating Nicole in front of Phillip. Wish they would keep her that way.
May 25, 2010 at 8:54 pm #13132caseyParticipantI do like Mel most of the time, but like mom Carly she can be interfering. If Steph plans to trap Nathan w/ the ol’ pregnancy card, then that’s none of Mel’s affair. I thought it was outrageous how she broke out a fight over the purse.
May 25, 2010 at 9:22 pm #13136drea4713ParticipantSomeone trying to trap a man into getting her pregnant is pretty serious, stupid, pathetic & downright deceitful. Sure Nathan shouldn’t be sleeping with her if he truly doesn’t want to have kids, but she is clearly trying to make it happen. If it was a good friend of mine that someone was doing that to, I would definitely speak up. Not just for his sake, but for the possible future child. What an awful thing to be born into!
May 26, 2010 at 1:45 pm #13159caseyParticipantIf she truly wants to help Nathan, then tell him. How concerned is Melanie about Steph trying to trap him, rather than if Steph gets pregnant it pretty much kills any chance Mel has for Nathan. And I think that’s what’s really behind her actions. Yes, she loves Phil but Nathan still has her heart.
May 26, 2010 at 9:05 pm #13187drea4713ParticipantI can’t say what her motives are, but it seems like she’s just giving Stephanie a chance to fess up and stop her behavior. I think that’s what’s right, to go to the person she has a problem with first, but then if she doesn’t stop, then go to Nathan. That’s what I would do, anyway. I think she’s truly worried about Nathan, though. I’m sure she doesn’t like Stephanie with him, either, because she knows she’s a manipulative witch!
May 27, 2010 at 12:53 pm #13211PattiParticipantthat Carly is doing with Chloe … giving her the chance to come clean or Carly will tell Daniel the truth, and I, for one, see nothing wrong with that. I just can’t go along with it when the person threatening to expose the other’s secret when theirs is/are just as huge and just as hurtful. I mean hiding a kid from it’s father, especially when you know the father is a good friend and individual, for some 20+ years, and then condemning the dad’s fiance for a one-nighter seems to tip the scales in the wrong direction for me.
