It seems like a major stretch to me that they can go from Mickey being fine to having neuroblastoma just from running a high fever. I went to cancer.net and Mayo to do a little reading and the current SL still seems like someone is taking liberties with the writing. I know we have a couple of medical professionals as board members, so I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would fill me in with details.
It’s usually not diagnosed this early. I’m thinking that if it is it was something else that brought the baby to the doctor and it was found accidently. This happens with a lot of cancers, just found on scans looking for something else.
I did find this when doing more research "Symptoms may include fatigue, loss of appetite, and fever. There may be a lump or compression of tissues in the affected area."
… Eric said she had been fine. And all they mentioned doing was waiting on lab results which in my experiences of being a patient multiple times meant blood work or a urinalysis. They usually referred to x-ray and CAT scans as waiting on radiology. Maybe they gave her the VIP rush for all tests since they said the cancer had metastisized. Only in Salem.
My sister’s first born son was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of 4 weeks. His had already metastasized. He seemed fine from birth. That was back in 1971. He did not survive Beyond 6 weeks old.
