So I watched the 2nd episode. Galen was taking care of his kids and he was so cute. It was weird though because his wife said that the longest he had ever been alone with the kids was an hour and a half. I found that a bit odd as the kids are not infants. I guess he works a lot.
Nadia’s mother is really a piece of work. I am not sure what’s up with Nadia and Brandon’s relationship but her mother sure has no problem sticking her nose in and is downright rude to Brandon. If that was my mother I would tell her to keep it to herself. I guess it remains to be seen what’s up with Brandon. He claims he has is "issues".
Farah and her boyfriend! This guy wears pajama pants everywhere and is a momma’s boy. She needs to dump his ass. His mother is another rude nosy one. Holy stage moms Batman!
Kirstin. It is revealed that she only speaks to her brother and not her parents. I did feel for her as her brother left for his military helicopter training for one year. She seemed so sad.
Kelly. I still don’t like her. Can’t relate at all.
October 4, 2011 at 8:29 pm #27067NoraParticipantI forgot it was on darn it!!! But it’s on again tonight at 10 so my dvr is set. And I set it to record the new shows from now on! From seeing farahs boyfriend, I don’t see how she could be with him!!! Ugh. Can’t wait to see it tonight.
October 4, 2011 at 9:00 pm #27075SWParticipantand JP’s! Nadia’s mother came off as a (w)itch! Brandon brought her the requisite flowers and she tells him off. I would give Nadia and Brandon a better chance of lasting that JP/Farah. I couldn’t believe when JP’s mother went to that fan event and then acted like she was the star along with talking about giving birth to him etc. I can’t imagine that Farah and JP are going to make it as a couple. Someone commented that she was like Kate Gosslin and I totally agree. She bosses him around almost like his mother does! I can’t relate to Kelly- in the first show it seemed like she was insulting to her fans and I just don’t get her act on the second one. I felt sorry for Kirstin as she seems to have only her brother. Galen was too funny! I’m guessing he does go on promo trips a lot along with working a lot. Interesting show!
October 4, 2011 at 9:02 pm #27076IzzyBParticipantI thought Galen not watching his kids for long stretches was odd, but I guess if he works a lot it would make sense. His wife was less annoying this time.
I thought Nadia’s mom was just too nosey and needed to try and get to know him instead of judging him all the time. I felt that was not fair. I mean in the first episode he sent flowers for her last day, so there is no way she can say he has never gotten her flowers. I personally though Brandon treats her very well from what I have seen so far. I think if he was a total jerk you would see glimpses of it, which I don’t see.
Farah is not the nicest person from what I can see, but she does not belong with him. The two of them are just not meant for each other and his mom is also way too nosey and involved in his life. My mom lives with me right now due to a pipe bursting in her house and she is less involved in my life than what his mother is in his life!!!!
Kirsten – I feel so bad for her. She has really gone through a lot in her life, but she seems very stable and knows what she wants. It will be interesting to see how she acts around Farah, because right now between the two I think Kirsten is nicer.
Kelly – Nope, still don’t like her.
October 4, 2011 at 9:07 pm #27077luckeyParticipantin their real lives! I guess that’s why they named the show as they did. I was blown away by Nadia’s mom. She was exactly what she called herself during the show…a bitch. I kept hoping that Brandon would say something about his Mom not being very pleased with the way she was treating her son. I’m surprised that Nadia lets her get away with talking about the man she loves in such a nasty manner. Farah seems spoiled; Kirsten is high maintenance; Kelly is self-centered…that’s my take on them. I think Farah’s boyfriend, JP(?), needs to grow up. Galen is a hoot as a dad! It doesn’t seem like anything throws him…he just takes it in stride and works it out. They have really cute kids!
October 4, 2011 at 10:20 pm #27080cornbreadParticipantI think both Nadia and JP’s mothers are worse than most soap-opera characters! I hope they are only being this bad for the cameras…why would anyone tolerate their behavior in real life? I think Nadia’s mom is a lot like Kate. Nothing is good enough and she is way too vocal about her opinions. Nadia needs to put her in her place. I’m not disrespectful to my mother but I don’t think she should be to my spouse/sig. other either. I can’t believe people act like that in real life. Where are their manners?
And JP…he needs to grow up. Farah can be bossy but he’s a grown man. He needs to unfold his backbone and stand up to both these women!
Kelly needs a personality.
Kristen is an interesting person…lots going on in her life. I see a lot of the show revolving around her in the future.
I am enjoying it so far!
October 5, 2011 at 2:09 am #27085justwonderingParticipantI really don’t get her. Nadia has been with Brandon for 5 years. Maybe her mother has had issues with him in the past. Brandon seems very devoted and supportive to Nadia. Or maybe it’s part of the script.
Don’t like Farah or her boyfriend. She doesn’t treat him very nice, they don’t seem like a match.
I ff thru kelly, don’t like her AT ALL. Don’t know the history of Kirsten and her parents, but she seemed really upset about her brother.
Galern seems reallt laid back and the kids seem like they just run all over. His wife was better, but she is a stay at home mom so that is her job!!
October 5, 2011 at 12:08 pm #27094BonbonParticipantbut I can’t help but think a lot of the actions are, maybe not "staged," but certainly embellished to make the show more provacative and interesting, which I think is true of ALL reality shows. Even though, I still like to watch. I guess that’s human nature to want to see our idols acting like real people…or worse!
Boy, Farah sure has a filthy mouth (Kelly too), doesn’t she? It’s one thing to talk like she does off camera but, gee, doesn’t she care what her fans think of her? I know some people don’t think it’s any big deal but there are probably as many (or more) who don’t like it.
October 5, 2011 at 1:44 pm #27101mommytutuParticipantDid not like Nadia’s mom. But I can tell you from having family from the Middle East, her mom wants her to marry someone from her cultural background or someone like her dad. Honestly, no man will be good enough for her unless she picks him out herself.
Farah needs a man, not a mama’s boy like the one she has.
I really felt sorry for Kirstin. It’s heartbreaking to hear how her mother treated her. I know she’s sad about her brother leaving, but he’s still in this country and she can visit. My husband just deployed to Middle East for a year, we won’t be visiting any time soon.
Galen is a cutie, and sweet too. I’m really enjoying this show. Does anyone else find it interesting that aside from Kelly Monaco and Jean Paul, all of them have been on Days?
October 5, 2011 at 3:38 pm #27119PattiParticipantare these going to be the same soap stars for the entire season or will they change, because I would not be able to stand watching them IRL for too long. They are just too irritating……well, except for Galen, who I find absolutely adorable, along with his wife and kids. His wife was much better this week, and good for Galen to recognize that she is a wonderful wife and mother and that she does a fantastic job taking care of all of them and that gorgeous home (I’m jealous of their home). When Galen’s kid locked him out of the room, I just had to laugh out loud, because I remember my grandson doing that very same thing, and my son had to climb in the window to get in. Luckily, it was unlocked at the time. Anyway, they were my favorites this week.
Nadia’s mother needs to go back to wherever she came from, and regardless of how much she loves her mom, she should be able to tell her when she needs her advice about her love-life, she’ll ask for it; otherwise, if she cannot respect Brandon when she is in his presence, then the truth is that the relationship between her and her mother will soon part. I don’t know how they just sit there and take this bullshit from this bitter old bitch (BOB). They can’t even ignore her …. she just won’t let them. Poor Brandon…..he must have nerves of steel; I don’t like it that Nadia doesn’t just yell at her to SHUT THE **** UP!
John Paul and Farah …. OMG …. who is the lesser of two idiots here? Do they even love each other? I don’t think so. Who tells the world, joking or not joking, that he breast-fed until he was seven, and has a mother (named BAMBI, no less) who thinks that’s funny? And Farah, you can’t possibly be thinking of marrying this man, unless, of course, you take his gonads off his mother and put them back on him. Geeez, what a mess these two are.
I’m probably the only one who feels just the opposite about Kelly and Kirsten as everyone else. Kirsten has problems that go above and beyone her relationship with her mother, and she has the court docs to prove it. Kelly, on the other hand, has been in a relationship with one man for 18 years, so I have to say that I can totally see where it’s more like a marriage than a relationship. I don’t know what this guy did that caused them to break up, or even if it was his fault or hers, but I can certainly identify with her feelings over it, and Kirsten shouldn’t be trying to make her "move-on" so quickly. Maybe if Kirsten would learn to listen to her own heart and stop trying to mend Kelly’s, she might not be able to hear the sound of her own breaking so much.
Anyway, I hope if the show lasts, they change stars every now and then; otherwise, I feel we’ll be listening to the same b/s week after week, and that’s not what I would be interested in.
October 5, 2011 at 5:06 pm #27128BonbonParticipantOMG! I could have cried when she burned that beautiful red dress. What a shame. Does that mean she’s supposed to get rid of every single thing she owned during their relationship? And I kind of wonder about someone who maintains a relationship for 18 years and doesn’t get married. I know there are lots of others but I still question it.
Patti, I know you watch other shows so would enjoy seeing other people on it but I hope they stick with Days (or former Days)stars.
October 5, 2011 at 8:51 pm #27145PattiParticipantand I do watch (I should say tape) Y&R, GH and OLTL, but OLTL ends it’s on-air run in January, where it may or may not be picked up by Prospect Park to be shown on-line, and now it’s rumored that GH will be following suit, so looks like ABC will be getting out of soaps altogether (oh, yeah, because The Chew is doing so well — gag) Brian Frons will definitely be going down with the ship(s) for this flub, which I doubt will last 41 shows, much less 41 years. Y&R, DOOL and B&B will be the only ones left after January 2012. But definitely I would like to see more DOOL stars on Dirty Soaps.
October 5, 2011 at 10:28 pm #27155IzzyBParticipantDebuted really well and probably costs a lot less to produce than a soap opera. So I wouldn’t say it is not doing well.
I have not heard about GH being cancelled, probably depends on how well the other soap cancellations go.
October 6, 2011 at 3:02 am #27169PattiParticipantso I would not expect them to be derogatory. I just don’t see what daytime television needs with another food program when there are so many on already, so I’ll just sit back and see how long it lasts.
October 6, 2011 at 4:12 am #27173IzzyBParticipantIt was an a by the numbers site that was talking about the ratings in the different age groups compared to the soap in the last year. Trust me, I don’t like seeing soaps go away, but I understand why. Less people watching daytime means they need to air shows that cost less to produce.
