and that’s exactly why she did it.
August 6, 2010 at 8:17 pm #15246PattiParticipantbut he knows Nicole. Finally, he’s taken off the blinders. I absolutely loved AZ and EM’s scenes, both yesterday and today, despite the rough, angry sex, which was nowhere near a "rape" to me. After all, he didn’t force her to do anything she wasn’t willing to do, and he certainly didn’t hold a gun to her head.
August 6, 2010 at 8:29 pm #15248SWParticipantdown, so does he and he has a lot more to lose than she does. He kidnapped a baby, she just has illegally gained money.
August 6, 2010 at 9:19 pm #15250PunkyParticipantWe’ll I’m a day ahead and he was drinking a scotch neat at the Brady Pub. When questioned about it by Arianna and Melanie he said he never had a problem with it. I just think this has been done. Remember when Lucas fell off the wagon and it was Sami’s fault according to Kate?
August 6, 2010 at 9:54 pm #1525253tdogsParticipantHe told Nicole exactly what’s what…I love it. And what he said was "right on the money"!
August 7, 2010 at 4:05 am #15259drea4713ParticipantI remembered the $5 million she got for marrying Lucas, it must be her lucky number! NOT
August 7, 2010 at 12:17 pm #15263BonbonParticipant…that money was earned. You only have to pay taxes on ‘earned income’ and that certainly (legally) does not fall into that catagory. Since I’m sure she isn’t going to callr it blackmail money, it could be a gift, it could be a divorce settlement, it could be a loan (or loan repayment), there are all kinds of reasons it could be tax exempt. And even if it was earned income, she’s not breaking the law until the tax is due in April. (Since I did tax returns for H&R Block for a couple of years, I’m pretty sure I know what I’m talking about.) The only possible infraction I can think of is her not filing Fom 8300, the one you need if you deposit $10,000 or more.
No, in my experience there is nothing at all to make that an illegal account. I think it’s just another case of the writers not knowing how the real world works.
August 7, 2010 at 2:55 pm #15270DeeLanParticipantYou do have to pay taxes on large ticket item winnings and inheritance. It seems anytime you come into money over a certain amount Uncle Sam has his hand out.
Look at all those people who got the car on Oprah, they were informed ahead of time about the taxes and could refuse the prize but they were greedy and took it anyway then complained when they had to pay. When my mom died I had to see an attorney with her will. If everything would have gone through probate I would have had to pay taxes on any money or property over a certain amount but she didn’t have much, just the house that wasn’t quite paid off. We did a Personal Undertaking where I was responsible for all her debts and it was quicker and nothing was owed.
Same with Lotto winnings. You didn’t earn it, you won it but Uncle Sam still wants his share. Las Vegas is the same. If you win a small amount at a time they don’t look twice but win over a certain amount and they’ve got the tax forms for you to fill out. Lesson here, if you win a little at a time, cash the chips in a little at a time. If you accumulate a large amount over several days and cash it all in at once they look at it as a one time winning.
I do product reviews and even though I’m not getting paid they consider the items I review and get to keep as income and I have to claim their full market value on my taxes. I can donate them to charity after the review but it’s still income and I can then use the donation as a deduction but it never balances out.
