Well SO far So good tonight on Idol. First was Naima, She was ok. probably one of the weakest tonight, I forget the name of the song she sang but she did a Rege twist to it. I love watching her perform but not that great a vocal tonight. Pia was AWESOME as usual. Flawless. she sang another ballad but perfectly. It’s Elton John week. Stefano was great too, connected with the audience and kept his eyes open this week! JAMES! Brilliant! so great, I love watching him. they were right it was like watching a seasoned rocker up there. Thia, she was good, the song was pretty but still safe as Randy said. CASEY Again another awesome performance! Casey is BACK! he got his hair and beard trimmed and looks soooo much better! Lauren was awesome also, put a country spin on her song, loved it! Sorry I cant remember any of the names of the songs, maybe someone else wrote them down! Scotty was 2nd, forgot him, country again, but great as usual. his last low note rocked! James is up next. it’s ok. it’s James.
I’m voting for JAmes, Pia, Casey and Lauren tonight!

March 31, 2011 at 1:55 am #22304NoraParticipantHalley was pretty good this week. Still not my fav but I think this is the best performance of the competition. Randy said it was the best performance of the night. Benny and the Jets, I remembered that one. Going to go VOTE!
March 31, 2011 at 2:32 am #22306DeeLanParticipantI didn’t like Paul and Jacob. Both have got to go as far as I’m concerned. Paul looked like he was in pain and at one point he looked like Yakov Smirnoff
Yakov Smirnoff Paul McDonald
March 31, 2011 at 3:00 am #22307caseyParticipantso I’m bummed if I didn’t see the performance of the night. This was the first time I really noticed/appreciated Lauren. Very well done. Jacob tonight shattered all the subtleties of that EJ song and he’s got to be reined in; otherwise becoming a caricature.
Naima didn’t do it for me and Thia, although song well enough was totally a bore. Pia still a great voice but leaves me a bit hollow.
Loved Casey tonight and James was a lot of fun. Paul (aka Yakov!) was just okay. Scotty solid and Stefano I just love the tone of his voice. Better connection this week.
So who goes?March 31, 2011 at 3:04 am #22308NoraParticipantLMAO!!!! That is tooooo funny!!! He really does look like Yakov!!
March 31, 2011 at 3:15 am #22309DeeLanParticipantI agree about Naima. I liked her take on the song but that fake Jamican accent was wrong. I realize that’s her heritage but it’s not her and didn’t sound like her.
Jacob makes everything sound like a gospel song and as the producer told him he’s got to stay away from the theatrics and he just can’t. The way he contorts his mouth and looks like he’s going to cry during and after each performance I don’t know if he’d be able to last through a 2 hour concert. The guys also got to unbotton his blazer, it looks like it’s too small the way it pulls across the middle and back and puckers above the buttons. Either that or get a new tailor.
Pia has a great voice but I felt she told the judges "up yours" when she said she knew they told her not to do another ballad but she’ll take their advice next week.
As far as Thia playing it safe. That’s the judges that keep saying that and I’m not sure how many voters are going to feel that way, they vote for what they like not playing it safe or taking risks.
Scotty and James were excellent as usual.
March 31, 2011 at 1:32 pm #22315PattiParticipantmaybe because Benny and the Jets was my all-time favorite Elton John song. Lauren did a terrific job with Candle in the Wind. Funny how they put that one country song in for Scotty, which was very considerate of the producers, I thought. Loved his attention to his grandma. What a sweet kid. James was a little too "show-dog" for me last night, but he does have a great talent as a rocker, and he seems to do well with pretty much anything he sings, so far. I just didn’t like him "all over the place" last night. Pia is a great ballad singer and she did great with "Don’t Let The Sun Come Down on Me.", and she knows it. It’s almost as if she’s afraid to take it up a notch for fear of losing her place on the ballads totem pole, but if anyone is becoming a one-trick pony, it’s her. Stefano was so much better last night, and it was obvious he "connected" well with the audience as well as the judges. I had to laugh every time Jennifer said his name, though. She kept saying "STEF’.a.no" instead of "Ste.FAN’.o." Made me think Joe M. was in the house. Paul, take your skinny butt and that raggedy flowered suit back to wherever it is you came from. I find myself now lining up my pee-break when he’s up. Steven’s dig about his suit growing more flowers than last time he wore it was too funny. He looks like a clown in that thing. Jacob sounded like he belonged in the choir, clapping his hands and moving side to side rather than being up front on stage. The young man has grown cold, and they need to stop telling him how magnificent he is, because he’s not. I absolutely love Naima, and didn’t think she did a bad thing with the raggae twist. They keep telling these kids to ‘make it their own’ and she did and I give her credit for it. She has terrific stage presence, and I can’t help but like this girl a lot. Casey was Casey, and he’s still shining, but I could very well be wrong, but I don’t see him winning. Thia has such a soft, natural and beautiful voice. I can’t put my finger on what’s wrong with her, probably a certain shyness about her performances, like someone just going before a live audience for the first time and having stage fright. I do like her, though. Anyway, my favorite last night was definitely Haley, and my pick to go home, as always and forever hopeful —- Paul.
