How many were shocked at the final 3 tonight? Joshua, Elise and the big one, Jessica?
Do you think it was simply a matter of everyone thinking they were shoo-ins and not voting?
I for one was not blown away by Josh’s choice this week. Elise has run hot and cold, but Jessica was stellar as always. Perhaps her unknown song choice didn’t resonate with the voters?
Of course, you knew the judges would save Jessica. But it certainly opens the door that she may not win this competition, despite having the finest voice of the bunch.
I just can’t see how Skylar stays every week.April 13, 2012 at 12:28 pm #32421bluebonnetParticipantI’m thinking that it may have something to do with how the judges treat the contestants. It’s almost as if the voters deliberately reject someone that the judges push. Look what happened to falsetto guy. The judges don’t seem to do the singers any favors by bragging on them too much. Maybe voters also felt like Jessica was getting too confident since the whole world raved over her since the beginning. Also, I think voters tend to vote for a contestant based on charisma and personality rather than strickly a good voice. Sometimes I can’t explain why I like one singer over another. I know it isn’t just voice alone. These are just speculations, though. Maybe it is just that this group of singers is so good that it is hard for ANYONE to get the boot. Question: will two people get voted off next week?
And p.s., I don’t see how Skylar stays every week either. Guess she has a big following somewhere.
April 13, 2012 at 1:03 pm #32423caseyParticipantJessica’s humility when Ryan asked if she were surprised by the outcome. I just want Skylar to go now.
April 13, 2012 at 3:18 pm #32426DeeLanParticipantI agree, the voters don’t like being told who to vote for and the judges pimping them every week gets old. I’m now wondering if Randy’s words last night will come back to haunt them when he said "she’s the best voice IN THE WORLD".
Also agree about Skyler. The other night her screaming really bugged me (but Don said everything bothered me that night). I couldn’t hear the song due to her screaming. Why do they always feel that screaming is the same as projecting? The singers Randy says not to try to do their songs like Celine and Aretha have powerful voices and I’ve never heard them yell and scream out any lyrics.
I know they’d save the loser when Steven told Ryan they were definately using their card with the 3 up there. Don feels if it were Elise getting the boot they wouldn’t save her but I think they would since next week was the last one they could use the save
I’m also wondering if they’ll vote 2 off next week or stick with one since they lost 2 the week that one guy got kicked off. Are they now a week ahead of schedule and need to fill that week or has the network already made adjustments to fill that empty week.
April 13, 2012 at 6:20 pm #32430goodolddaysParticipantI don’t see all the fuss over Jessica. I don’t think she’s that fantastic and I certainly wouldn’t call her the best singer in the world. Although I don’t care much for female singers in general. Most of them end up screching or screaming and I hate that. I think the save is stupid. That’s like saying – America we think you’re stupid and you don’t know who you should vote for so we will do it for you. That’s the way the vote went and that’s the way it should be.
April 13, 2012 at 8:21 pm #32433PattiParticipantnot so much over Elise, because I expected her to be in the bottom 3 this week. Jessica and Joshua, however, were a complete surprise. When Ryan asked Skylar to go stand with the group she thought she should be in was ridiculous, because it was obvious she was safe and I’d bet the farm she was more than tempted to go stand with Jessica, Joshua and Elise, but didn’t want to make it obvious that she thought (although wrongly) that the other group were the bottom 3. So, when Ryan walked her over to the Hollie, Colton, Phillip group, I almost laughed out loud. They did this once before, didn’t they, but I can’t remember who was involved. I agree that it seems like the American voters tend to do the opposite of what the judges say, sometimes, but in this instance, it was clear that the voting audience is determined to stick with their favorites rather than the true talent behind the singer. I also think it was a mistake for the judges to jump up and stop Jessica from singing, intimating that it was ridiculous for her to continue, because they were determined to save her. They may have done her more harm than good. If they had let her sing, knowing they were going to save her, it would have looked much better to the voting public. Now, they may have turned her into a target for those who believe she was given special treatment. I happen to thing this young lady is super talented, but America doesn’t need to have the judges deciding she doesn’t have to sing to be saved when everyone else before her did. JMHO.
April 13, 2012 at 9:42 pm #32434caseyParticipantwould have said 2 would be eliminated if that were the case. So I’m doubting it.
April 13, 2012 at 9:47 pm #32435caseyParticipantfor sure. The week she did that Beyonce number was outstanding. She has control, range, wonderful interpetation and all this at 16. I do think she is weaker on uptempo songs; needs to improve there. I wasn’t that impressed with her early on, but she has won me over lately.
But does that make an American Idol? Colton has brought more to the table for me in the area of uniqueness. There are many 5 star voices out there, but you need more IMO to win the title.April 14, 2012 at 2:33 am #32438DeeLanParticipantThey’ve done that before, stopping someone from singing because they were going to save them AND telling them not to bother singing because they already decided they weren’t going to save them. From the look on Jessica’s face she didn’t know what was going on, they told her to stop and she had a confused look, then they told her to go sit down and she still looked confused. The group was telling her she was safe and she still looked confused until Ryan had the judges explain what was going on
Having the 7th person pick the group they’re with has been going on every year since at least Bo Bice. I remember Ryan telling him to pick the group and he sat on the floor between them. They’ve also put groups together then had a couple switch places.
