So far I’m not impressed, James is my favorite, and even he had pitch issues, funny isnt it? Thea was born 1995, i graduated that year from high school! LOL
March 17, 2011 at 3:03 am #21793NoraParticipantOK…..my Pics for tonight….Scotty, Stefano, James, Lauren, and Casey. i usually dont like Lauren but tonight even though she was sick she sounded pretty good. Pia was good too but still found her boring. Thia was the same way. Haley, Karen, Naima, and Paul or Karen maybe in trouble tomorrow.
March 17, 2011 at 3:11 am #21794caseyParticipantfor me the first half of the contestants were pretty rough. But as usual Scotty shined and liked Stefano too. Pia can sure sing, but there’s still this generic feel I get from her. Thia was boring and I don’t like Hayley at all. Casey was over the top but I find him entertaining. Same w/Jacob.
But overall this was not a great show.March 17, 2011 at 4:40 am #2179653tdogsParticipantlike him the best…have a half an hour left so perhaps someone else will be great too in the next 30 minutes…I can see Thia and Pia singing on Broadway or doing Disney tunes in the future.
March 17, 2011 at 11:29 am #21798DeeLanParticipantI keep wishing Paul would go home. He sounds like Rod Stewart after he’s inhaled helium. I’m also not fond of the last guy that sang but can’t remember his name. He was great the week he sang Luther’s song but I keep waiting for him to cry on his mom’s shoulder like he did during the auditions. I’ve always liked Lauren but I’m a country music fan. I felt she was trying to act too much like Kelli Pickler but after hearing her parents last night I don’t think it’s an act, she really is that nieve. Scotty is my favorite though and even though I’d like him to win I think he’s got a better chance of making it if he came in 2nd or 3rd.
March 17, 2011 at 1:19 pm #21802caseyParticipantis getting better each week with her comments. I’m very impressed and she’s such a breath of fresh air.
March 17, 2011 at 1:41 pm #21804NoraParticipantI agree, Lauren is an airhead and i havent liked her too much up until last night, i thought she did a great job on the melissa ethridge song. That was Jacob the black guy you’re talking about? i didnt like his song last night, not the right type for his voice. I LOVE Scotty too. voted for him multiple times. he seems like such a sweet down to earth guy. loved seeing his buddies all there rooting for him! i liked Paul at first but not anymore, his dancing is just a joke.
March 17, 2011 at 2:19 pm #21806PattiParticipantTo me most of these kids just get better and better every week. As for last night’s show, I loved it and have these comments (and these are just my opinions):
Naima: I like her, but the judges were right, she’s very pitchy. She has a unique voice, but she can’t control it. I think she’ll be in the bottom 3 tonight;
Paul: Get him off and get him off quick. He looks like a little chicken running around on stage, after his head’s been cut off. FYI, Paul, skinny jeans on guys just look ridiculous. Good song choice for his voice, but he didn’t bring it. Elton John would have been laughing his ass off. Hopefully, he’ll be eliminated tonight.
Thia: Too safe with her songs. Love ‘Colors of the Wind’ but this gal really needs to belt one out of the park if she has any chance of going to finals.
James: One of my favorites. He did Bon Jovi proud with "I’ll Be There For You." His expressions due to his Tourettes do not distract from his talent in any way. Love him.
Haley: I like her when she picks the right song, but when she doesn’t, like last night, she just can’t keep up. Pretty girl, though. Loved her rendition of "Blue" the week before. Last night, not so much. She should never do Whitney Houston.
Stefano: Great – "If You Don’t Know Me" perfect for him. Expect him to go far. What a cutie. Judges love him, especially J-Lo, as much as the audience does.
Pia: Now this girl can do Whitney Houston. She’s just a natural, and she is warming up to the stage a little more. Down the road I still think she’ll be the one to beat.
Scotty: Another favorite – he’s so darn cute, but this young man can sing country. He sure does stay true to his roots. Nobody’s gonna take the country out of this boy. Loved the song; loved him.
Karen: Good but sings out of her range. She did a good job with "Love Will Lead You Back" though. J-Lo is such a great critic; she always tells these kids the truth.
Casey: Big disappointment for me last night, and I don’t know how many of these young voters will appreciate Nervana. He may have hurt hisself last night. I hope not because he’s so good but he took a big risk with that song, IMO.
Lauren: I can’t see her winning, but she’ll wind up like Kelly Pickler. But, in her defense, I have to say to Paul: ‘now this is how you sing with the flu.’
Jacob: Loved him at first, but I’m losing interest. Falling into that realm of ‘everything sounding the same’ for me.
Randy’s words ring true, though, for me anyway; we do have a competition. Who’s going home tonight? Paul, I hope.
March 17, 2011 at 3:51 pm #21811NoraParticipantPatti I agree with everything you said. Paul does need to go, good comment about singing with the flu. definetly no excuse after hearing Lauren. she really is like Kelly, they both are incredibly annoying, i never really liked Kelly’s singing. and not Lauren up until last night. agree about Jacob too, i liked him at first but he too is becoming annoying and doesnt really fit in. i cant believe the judges liked him last night. of course they loved the train wreck that won a few years ago, i cant think of her name though, the black girl. Thia used to be my favorite but youre right, she’s become very safe. at least Pia does belt out those high notes and nails them every single time! the beginning of her song was pitchy but after she hit the first high note she got it back. Casey was a disappointment for me too. J-lo was right he screamed it too much. he looked scarey too with that lighting! at least James knows when to scream and not do it too much. he was alittle pitchy too, but awesome as always. i never notice his turrettes either, i loved his intro with the dolls, that was hilarious! and i cant wait to buy James ,and Scotty’s CD’s! and i will! how cute was scotty as Elvis?? chubby little baby! so cute! i love Stefano now too, he was great last night. and so sexy! i hope Haley goes. shes out of her league. did anyone else notice the lipstick all over her chin?? I did! LMAO!! I like NAima alot too but she has been pretty pitchy the last couple weeks. i liked her since hollywood.
I wonder if Steven wants to be a woman? he wears more makeup than J-lo and his shirts?? He had perals on last night with his flowery ruffled silk shirt and that hot pink number he had on last week! And i think Deelan said about J-lo about her comments, she is awesome. i love her now. she is getting more serious, unlike Steven who usually loves everyone. you never would have heard Paula say what J-lo said to some of the contestants last night . great advice. Paula would have tried to say it but noone would understand it LOL.
March 17, 2011 at 7:21 pm #21813maxineParticipantI mostly agree with you Patti .. My pick to go home tonight is Karen or Haley.
March 17, 2011 at 8:12 pm #21817DeeLanParticipantIf I remember when James was auditioning he said when he sings his tourettes doesn’t bother him. It’s when he’s not singing and the only thing he does is scrunch his eyes. Reminds me of Mel Tillis who stuttered terribly when he talked but sang like a bird, it was flawless.
March 18, 2011 at 12:57 am #2182353tdogsParticipantface work than Joan Rivers. IMHO – He is attempting to hide his age (that the roadwork didn’t fix), with all those hair and neck baubles that he wears, (and the fashion that he wears, as you mentioned), after all he is 63…not old, just old enough to know better.
I’d have a lot more respect for him if he’d look like he was living in the 21st century and not back 1978 and act his age and stop dressing like he was first on stage with Areosmith 39 years ago…He may think he’s still 28 with the way he speaks or perhaps he’s just fried his brain with too many enhancements and can’t progress any further…it seems at times when he speaks "(he’s) missed a thing – walking this way"…
He’s got enough money to keep "in fashion" and doesn’t need to look like an old wanna be rocker – after all he’s proven himself with his talent many times over.
March 18, 2011 at 1:11 am #21824NoraParticipantWell one more week with Paul’s dancing and Haley. I figured that Haley was more popular than Haley or Naima. I hope Naima does better next week cause i still like her.
March 18, 2011 at 1:29 am #21825DeeLanParticipantI like Haley but my choice of who could go would be Paul first followed by Jacob then Pia. I think Karen would have been on that list after Paul and Jacob. From her performance tonight she deserved to be saved though.
March 18, 2011 at 2:32 am #21828PattiParticipanthow the votes will go. I am extremely disappointed that I have to listen to Paul another week, even if his health is perfect. I can’t believe Naima made it to the couch before either Haley or Karen, even though I was not the least bit surprised she was in the bottom 3. I still do like her, though. Finally, I’m very surprised they didn’t give Karen a break and save her. She sang her heart out tonight in order to save herself, and I thought she did a magnificent job with "Hero." Good luck to her. She may not have won, but she didn’t deserve to go home tonight, IMO.
