The panel really seems to be settling in. ST is becoming the star for me – love his quirky comments. JL also seems more relaxed.
That last guy w/the girlfriend who had the accident is my pick so far. What a smooth, easy to listen to voice. And a standup likable fellow.January 27, 2011 at 5:37 pm #20417PattiParticipantI adore Steven Tyler; also loving Jennifer Lopez (she looked so beautiful last night with that ponytail); and even Randy Jackson looks happier now that he’s working with people ‘in the field,’ who know how to judge, yet know how to let someone down gently. I loved the last guy as well. I actually cried when they brought his fiance’ out. What a terrific guy he is, and he truly touched everyone’s heart with not only his love, but his loyalty for her.
January 27, 2011 at 6:27 pm #20422NoraParticipantME too guys, didnt think i was going to like Steven at first but he’s hilarious! They have so much great talent this year, i’m getting really psyched about getting to Hollywood week and getting started! They have alot of really young contestants though. Not too many stood out for me last night unlike the first show. they were all good but i liked the first show better. that poor little girl who just turned 15, i think that was a mistake putting her through, but hey she might surprise everyone and go all the way. but i doubt it. her voice was too soft. I love the new judges. I’m pleasantly surprised. they did a great job.
January 27, 2011 at 6:28 pm #20423DeeLanParticipantIf you’ve noticed they have 1-2 tear jerker contestants a year. Danny Gokie who lost his wife, that guy who was blind. The kid living in his car. One woman had a child that was special needs.
I liked that first guy/kid last night that sang country. DH thinks he might win because they haven’t had a male country winner yet. I guess it will depend on who’s the most versatile when they get to Hollywood.
Even though I thought I’d miss Simon I feel the show has been refreshed with the new judges and that might be what they needed to get the ratings back up again.
January 27, 2011 at 7:34 pm #20425NoraParticipantI loved that country guy too! His voice was amazing! Sounded just like some of those singers! Wow. but I wonder how he’ll do with other genres. I agree with you about Simon, I miss him sort of but you’re right it feels like an almost new show with these 3 judges. 1million times better than KAra and Ellen. Oh yeah and I liked the CPA! kind of a dork but he was a good singer! lol!
January 27, 2011 at 9:42 pm #20427DeeLanParticipantHave you noticed also that they’re not showing as many of the awful auditions and more of the good ones. Thinking that might be because they don’t have Simon and Kara’s put downs and rude comments to show. I do think 2 hours is 1 hour too long for the auditions thought. We really don’t need to see all of them.
January 27, 2011 at 11:04 pm #20430caseyParticipantShe never looked prettier to me than last night dressed down with just that ponytail.
January 28, 2011 at 3:29 pm #20442BonbonParticipantshe is one good-looking gal. She always dresses classy and she is a beautiful woman. I’ve liked her ever since I saw her in Selina, which I think was her first movie. Can’t say that I’m a big fan of her singing but she seems like a real down-to-earth person without any big ego issues.
January 28, 2011 at 3:34 pm #20443NoraParticipantI completely agree about 2 hours being way too long i think they did the 2 hours because it was the season opener. I hope also that they go back to a half hour for the result show, I though the hour for that was way too long they had too many other performers on too. my favorite last night was the black girl from kentucky and then the last girl. she was good but I dont think she was as good as the judges thought she was.
January 28, 2011 at 4:26 pm #20445caseyParticipantas Selina. For me she’s had a kind of odd career – I think her persona is bigger than what the career actually has produced, at least in the past several years. Though raising her kids I’m sure has taken priority.
January 28, 2011 at 5:02 pm #20447NoraParticipantI like her alot. she seems really genuine. Doesnt really seem like one of those stuck up celebrities. I like that Selina movie too.
February 3, 2011 at 12:57 am #20596ellenkbParticipantI think the judges are actually judging for a change of pace and they are all adorable together.
I agree we have seen many fewer nut jobs which is a nice change of pace. Some seriously good talent out there!
Hollywood week should be amazing!
February 3, 2011 at 1:45 am #20597NoraParticipantAgree!! I love it! Hardly miss Simon at all! Randy is trying to be mean but Steven and Jennifer wont let him. I love the judges. and am so getting excited for Hollywood and for the competition to begin! It’s going to be good! Finally after 2-3 years of crap! I absolutely LOVE that Cowboy John Wayne tonight! How adorable was he!???!? (2-2-11)
February 3, 2011 at 2:25 pm #20605caseyParticipantHe appears to have it all – looks, voice, likeability and a nice back story.
I am more impressed with these judges by the week, particularly Jennifer. Her comments are getting more detailed, like the one about the vibrato. I am surprised to find myself not missing Simon. I think because how much more creative could his negative comments have been? Already last year he was repeating the same ol’ Simonology.
And who would have guessed Tyler would be such a softie?
Lastly, AI cutting back on the “15 Minutes of Fame” contestants is a huge plus.
Hollywood week – can’t wait!February 3, 2011 at 2:45 pm #20611PattiParticipantSteven and J-Lo are a huge hit, not only with the fans, but with the media as well. They are making the show so much better. They all looked like they were having so much fun last night. I liked John Wayne (forgot his last name) last night, too, and I liked the last fellow as well. He was very talented for 19 years old. Had sort of a jazz/rock way of singing, and he was terrific on that instrument he played. But, I think my favorite was the real-life couple. What a beautiful couple, and boy, could both of them sing. I predict they will go very far, maybe right to the finals. Loved, loved, loved them. Awwww, AI’s first strikingly adorable, talented true love couple, either one of whom could possibly take it all.
