Ok….it’s the best time of the week! IDOL! Comment time!! Lauren was first, wasnt crazy about her, shoot i cant remember the name of the country singer she sang!! i thought she would be good singing her, (i hope someone can help me on the name!) but i didnt care for her! CASEY! WAS AWESOME! love him! Heck i even liked Aston this week.
March 10, 2011 at 2:03 am #21583NoraParticipantPaul – he was ok. wish he sang a more familiar song.
James! LOVED HIM! he was awesome singing a slower song, i’m glad he didnt go screaming so much.
Pia, was fabulous! sang Celine dion, all by myself. kind of boring, but flawless!
Haley, wasok, but agree with Randy, she was boring too. they didnt say boring with Pia that was JMHO.
i dont think i missed anyone did i ?
March 10, 2011 at 2:07 am #2158453tdogsParticipantScotty?
March 10, 2011 at 2:50 am #21587NoraParticipantScotty just sang, he was great! He sang The river by Garth Brooks! the guy he worked with asked him if he’d like to mix it up, Randy told him to be himself and stay rtrue to himself. Yay Randy! i love Scotty, like i keep saying, his voice just makes me smile! Stefano was ok, i didnt like the song, but he sang it well. Niama is singing now. again, i dont know the song she sounds sharp. she might be in trouble tomorrow.
March 10, 2011 at 3:18 am #21588caseyParticipantI have to say how impressed I am with Scotty and I’m not even a country fan. This guy was born to sing no muss no fuss pure country music and what a pleasure to listen to. I also liked Stefano, Casey and Paul.
Karen was very shaky, Hayley I just don’t care for – something superficial about her. Lauren sang the same type of honky tonk as last week and I find myself tuning out. Hoping to hear a ballad.
I was struck again by the judges and what a solid decision to put this panel together. Even Randy is saying more than “Yo Dog, That was pitchy.” These 3 seem to be more of a team, rather than Simon vs the others.
I would say Karen and Hayley might get the lowest votes.March 10, 2011 at 4:02 am #21589DeeLanParticipantHaley sang Shania Twain
March 10, 2011 at 4:17 am #21590NoraParticipantShania! Thanks! I voted for Scotty, James, Jacob, Ashton, and Casey.
scotty – I absolutely LOVE him! I keep saying, his voice just makes me smile. you’re right he was born to sing country. i was so happy when randy said dont change a thing be true to yourself! James, he was fabulous tonight. i was glad he didnt take the song and scream it, he had a couple high notes, but they werent screaming. i loved it.
Jacob, I love him too, he did hit a few bad notes but WOW once he hit those high notes! Super! Ashton, as much as i didnt like her last week, she was good this week, i think the best of the girls, Pia was flawless but i thought she was kind of boring, same with Thia, Karen i still like her but she did struggle but i didnt vote for her. i think naima might be in trouble tomorrow. I just dont care for haley either, or Lauren.
Casey was AWESOME I love him.stefano was ok..didnt love the song but he sang it well. same with paul.
March 10, 2011 at 5:52 am #2159153tdogsParticipantAll the way…Scotty and Pia!
March 10, 2011 at 1:57 pm #21593caseyParticipantI totally agree with. She has the pipes for sure, but in her first two songs, I wasn’t inspired or drawn in. I don’t get a connection with her and I need her to generate the emotional impact that the original singers had. For me also I think she lacks an identifiable trademark. If I heard her on the radio I don’t think I’d recognize her as Pia – just another really good singer. If she can bring that element to the table – and maybe I need to hear something other than a blockbuster ballad – then she’ll have something. Otherwise, I get far more entertainment from a Scotty or Paul than Pia because they have a unique quality, both in their voices and the way they put over a song.
March 10, 2011 at 1:59 pm #21594DeeLanParticipantI wasn’t impressed with Paul and don’t know why the judges are in love with him. He might not be a bad singer but his voice gets on my nerves.
March 10, 2011 at 2:06 pm #21595PattiParticipantLauren sang Shania Twain, but I think she would have done much better with Shania’s "I Feel Like A Woman."
March 10, 2011 at 2:16 pm #21596PattiParticipantHe could be recording today, and I think he’ll become a huge country star from this show. Pia has the voice, but she has no stage presence. I think she’ll make it to the final 4, but by the time she does, others who are great singers but with more stage presence will overcome her. JMO. Love Casey, but I cannot stand Joe Cocker, so I was not impressed with his song selection last night, but loved his performance of it. I don’t like Paul at all. His movement on stage makes me laugh. He’s usually out of step when he tries to move to his songs, and looks comical to me. Ashton is only going to get better and better if the votes keep her on. Goodness, she looks like Diana Ross so much on stage, and she has the voice to go with it. I just hope last night’s performance keeps her in, cause I felt she did hit some bad notes when she tries to go too high with her voice. Stefano did a terrific job with a not-so-familiar Stevie Wonder song. He’s got it all if he keeps choosing the right songs, and I think he will. Who goes home tonight —- I hope I’m wrong but it might be Thia. Randy was right; she should have stayed with the ballad version of "Smile" and not have jazzed it up. She’s another gal with a terrific voice, but not so much stage presence. Loved J-Lo’s comments about seeing Scotty move around a bit last night. I’m not a huge country fan, but he’s certainly making me one. Top of my list last night — James Durbin, hands down for me. He put just the right amount of acceleration in his voice last night, and I agree with Randy; going from Judas Priest to Paul McCartney and pulling them both off so well was amazing. Love that kid.
March 10, 2011 at 2:22 pm #21597maxineParticipantI think Ashthon or Lauren will be going home tonight, based on all the proformances , JMO.
March 10, 2011 at 3:48 pm #21598NoraParticipantI agree Patti, i love Scotty, he’s just a good kid period. i keep saying it but it’s true, his voice just makes me smile! I love him. i voted for him multiple times, and he’ll go to the finals if he doesnt make a huge mistake. he and james will probably be in the finals, unless america decides to pull another Daughtry move on us. i’m voting, so it’s not me! haha. i was really impressed with james last night. i already liked him, but wow just beautiful. agree about Paul too, i did like him, but he should have done a more well known song by brian adams. i thought Ashton was the best of the girls tonight, i havent liked her until now, but she was so much better last night. personally i think Naima is in trouble tonight maybe Paul too maybe stefano or Jacob, i voted for jacob too i really like him too. his low notes last night werent great but when he hit those high notes wow!
March 10, 2011 at 4:37 pm #21604caseyParticipantAnd he was one of my favs last night. I was extremely suprised that he could pull over that McCartney song. He kept me interested the entire time as he weaved from rocker to balladeer, from edgy to tender. And Jennifer was so on to say he can carry melody.
This season is ever so watchable!
This is much more fun than Days at the moment! -
