Casey was downright awful tonight, so we’ll see how he plays out with the voters.
Aaron was the one who surprised me. For a young country kid to tackle Sinatra, not bad.
I really enjoyed Harry Connick and how involved he was as mentor, arranger and musician.
This will be an interesting ballot, as the biggest block of voters have likely never heard these Sinatra classics.May 5, 2010 at 4:07 am #1268653tdogsParticipantLee rocked it tonight – he’s a contender! Mike was OK and the rest – well, not so much. Think Casey is gone tomorrow night.
May 5, 2010 at 5:33 pm #12706PattiParticipantto have this group destroy his magnificant talent and big band sound. None, and I mean none, of them had any right to sing with Harry Connick, let alone attempt Sinatra. I agree, Casey should go tonight, without a doubt.
May 5, 2010 at 9:07 pm #12710caseyParticipantHe was good but not fantastic. I don’t even think Lee knocked it out of the park. A tribute to just how good ol’ blue eyes was!
The question comes – is Crystal the same lock on winning as she was a few weeks back?May 5, 2010 at 10:19 pm #1271553tdogsParticipantI think perhaps that this is Randy and the show’s way of leading the t.v. audience voting to a conclusion of a Crystal / Mike finale. (Heh – this is a ratings game, they did the same thing last year with Lambert – although, they may not be as blatent about it this year).
I think Casey will be gone tonight, Aaron next week, then Lee (he isn’t as popular as Mike or Crystal) – good singer though, I liked him more last night than ever before. And then it’s down to Crystal and Mike – unless they have really off nights like they’ve had a few times.
May 5, 2010 at 10:20 pm #12716BonbonParticipantdon’t you think you’re being a little harsh on these kids. Remember, they’re amatures just starting out and haven’t polished their styles yet. I think you have to give them credit for attempting these songs. You can’t make great music if you don’t sing great songs.
May 6, 2010 at 1:17 pm #12726PattiParticipantall it did was make them look worse than they actually are. This was absolutely the worst season ever with regard to raw talent. None of these kids belong on a record label, although Crystal really does have a strong voice. Last night’s saving of that god-awful kid with the blond curls, added to the elimination of a 17-year old kid (Aaron Kelly) who leaves the god-awful other one (still can’t think of his name, and don’t care) in the dust every single week, shows me that this show is nothing more than a glorified popularity contest controlled by voters ranging in age from 12 to 18. When the judges were unanimous in telling that young man on Tuesday that basically "this was his worst night ever", and you see him still standing there, safe, on Wednesday’s elimination round, sending home a young man who can sing circles around him…….that’s neither talent nor fair in my books, that’s pure and simple bullshi*. I’m sure that’s why this show is going off the air …. even the judges had to shake their heads at last night’s vote. DUH…..just remembered, it’s Casey.
May 6, 2010 at 1:37 pm #12730caseyParticipantAnd how some contestants were initially chosen over others. Kara, if you recall was often unprofessional and downright silly during the auditions, telling Casey to take his shirt off, among other embarrassing behaviors. It was never right from the beginning and very few impressed me.
I agree Crystal is refreshing and talented enough to sell records. And I do think Aaron might have a niche in country music and Lee may have a chance, but do any of these people have the stuff for a longterm career? Are any of these a Kelly Clarkson? -
