Randy revealed yesterday he will not be returning, and so did Mariah. Also, Mariah fired Randy as her manager. What’s going on with Idol? Now they’re saying on the news this morning that NONE of the judges will be coming back next year, and it may not have been their decision. I really liked Keith Urban, and would like to see him return. His critiques were fair, and he never tore anyone down like Niki did. I like Mariah, but her critiques went on endlessly, and Randy, well I was sick of him and his cliché lines, like “he/she’s in it to win it.” Personally, I think Idol lost a lot of fans with The Voice, which is now the #1 singing competition. Even the X-factor is fizzling, Simon Cowell’s money and all, and their judges keep changing as well due mostly to conflicts among themselves.

I don’t get why Keith wouldn’t return unless it was his decision. I’m sure he was well liked, gave the best commentary and easy on the eye.
Definitely Randy has become a tape loop and Mariah too rambling. Nicki I won’t miss though the last couple weeks I did not mind her comments.
Maybe it’s just the notion of trying to keep the show fresh and generating more interest?
How were the ratings this season?May 10, 2013 at 1:57 pm #39613PattiParticipantas well as many celebrity news sites. They will remain friends, but she fired him as her manager. Idol is down 20% in ratings, and according to imbd celebrity news, there were only 11,000,000 viewers for Thursday night’s semi-finals show.
May 10, 2013 at 3:31 pm #39618caseyParticipantthe judges aren’t the prime reson for ratings decline unless some were really turned off by Minage. Especially with the strong field of contenders this season. Let’s face it, nothing lasts forever (except maybe 60 Minutes!) and Idol just had its what – 12th season? People grow tired and want change and find fresher programs to watch. I know myself I used to watch Idol straight through and I now watch other shows and flip back and forth.
May 10, 2013 at 3:45 pm #39619PattiParticipantabout her on the many AI sites. Most referencing her as a judge were horrible. I, too, started losing interest before this season even began, though. You’re exactly right; I think that probably happens with most reality shows after so many years.
May 10, 2013 at 4:55 pm #39621bluebonnetParticipantnot that interesting. It wasn’t the judges or that I was tired of the show (I don’t think), but the contestants didn’t spark my interest. Even though the top 4 or 5 were fantastic singers, none caught my fancy as in other years. I always root strongly for one or two, but this year I just didn’t care. So, I don’t know if other felt the same way and caused ratings to go down.
May 12, 2013 at 3:37 am #39645DeeLanParticipantbut stopped after they got through Hollywood week. It just didn’t hold my interest and I couldn’t get invested in any of them.
I’m back to watching though as I was asked by a media rep from AT&T to watch and tweet during the last 4 weeks using certain hashtags. I’m now dreading every Wednesday/Thursday evenings. I wish I’d said no.
