I couldnt find anything on foodnetwork.com about Chef Caswell (Tex) being on Chopped. it wasnt on his bio and I couldnt find it on the chopped site. I think Chopped is a rerun tonight. I couldnt remember it right away, the first course they had rattlesnake. Ziggy, a woman competitor only got one plate plated, so she got voted off.

October 27, 2010 at 12:09 pm #17391BonbonParticipantwhen someone tells him something tastes like chicken. He says, "Well then, just give me chicken."
October 28, 2010 at 5:16 pm #17420NoraParticipantDo you like that new show with that Bram guy? Meat and Potatoes, it’s ok, I’m not crazy about him. He did a show last week about giant food, like Man VS Food, and all I could think of that he’s no Adam!! I find him annoying. I like the new show Food Feuds, with Michael Simon, I think he’s sexy! I love the commercial when they show him on the motorcycle, vroom vroom! LOL. He’s a hottie, and he’s from ohio!
October 29, 2010 at 2:52 am #1743553tdogsParticipantNora – he is a hottie. I thought meat and po’s would be a good show as I’m a meat and potato kind a gal but those dishes just watching the show makes my cholesterol jump ten points! Did you see that Tom (can’t remember his last name) on Next Food NetWork Star has got his own show coming on Food Network? I think he was second or third place after Ari won.
October 29, 2010 at 3:06 am #17437NoraParticipantYeah I’m looking forward to Tom’s new show. It looks alot better than Meat and Potatoes. They’ve given alot of the runners up shows.

October 29, 2010 at 4:59 pm #17444luckeyParticipantTom! I thought he should have won the competition, but Arti did. I’m not fond of her show nor Melissa D’Arabia who won last year. They don’t seem to be personal enough on their shows. They seem to play to the camera and not the audience who is out there watching them. But that’s just my opinion.
October 29, 2010 at 5:29 pm #1744653tdogsParticipantEast Indian population in the USA. I’ve lived here in my town since 1965 off and on, yet I’ve never frequented any of their restaurants. There are about three to four at any given time, yet none of my friends or family have gone to eat there either.
I know EI’s cook with a lot of curry, tumeric, and corriander, from what I’ve read. Also you can tell when you drive past an EI restaurant or neighborhood from the fragrance of those spices. I know that those three spices are suppose to be very good for the heart. I wanted to learn those kinds of things from Arti’s show, but it is just another cooking show. And her show when she’s telling you about how to cook the food seems rushed.
I was hoping that Arti’s show would give a little more depth into EI food like tandori (sp) chicken or things that might be on an East Indian menu so that I would be more familiar with the food. I’m pretty bold when it comes to trying things, but no one I know wants to try it and I hate to go to a restaurant alone. I’ll have to see if they have take out I suppose.
And you are correct, there’s not a connection to the audience – I thought it was just nerves and things would change but now I don’t even watch her show. And I voted for her!
October 29, 2010 at 8:18 pm #17457DeeLanParticipantI worked with 2 women from India. One had an odor about her that would gag a maggot. If she had her purse or jacket near yours you could smell it for days. When I got engaged she touched my hand to look at my ring and I washed several times before the odor would fade. I worked in a hospital at that time with patients with lung diseases and one of our regular patients asked if she’d ever heard of deoderant. I guess it was all the spices coming out of her pores.
The other woman had no odor at all and she explained it was because of the different parts or India they were from. Sort of like the US and BBQ. Different parts of the country use different sauces, some are sweet and others are hot. The one with no odor took my boss and I to an Indian restaurant for dinner and the food was excellent. She knew what to order that wasn’t overpowering and my favorite was Tandori Chicken. It was made with yogurt and some spices but more mild. There was also a flat bread like a cracker that had a kick to it but I wanted more.
October 29, 2010 at 8:20 pm #1745853tdogsParticipantbetter if you live in my town or Bombay! So true!
October 30, 2010 at 2:14 am #17480NoraParticipantI’m not totally impressed with Arti’s new show or Melissa’s. I must say that some of Arti’s stuff sounded good, she made some meatballs a while back I think that sounded really good. I forget what it was now but at the time I thought it sounded yummy!
