Whitney Houston surely one of the great voices of all time. I suspect her tumultous battle w/ substance abuse has factored into her passing.
What a loss and for the most important person in her life, her daughter Bobby.February 12, 2012 at 5:27 pm #30990PattiParticipantthe music world has certainly lost another legend. RIP, Whitney!
February 12, 2012 at 11:26 pm #30992bluebonnetParticipantI have always been such a fan of Whitney Houston. What a wonderful treasure of music she has left behind. My sympathies go out to her family. Such an unbelieveable loss for them!

I’m sure a lot of our passed away soliders and children who have died with cancer and other people with injuries, diseases and illnesses would love to have the wonderful chance of a great life that she threw away, if this was indeed drugs which it is looking more and more like it was. I did think that 21 years ago when she sang the National Anthem at the SuperBowl, that she did it better than anyone since with her great voice. Being a beautiful woman with an awesome talent doesn’t keep one away from the dark side of life, it would have been great for her to still be singing years from now in her late 60’s, a talent to immulate and admire for little girls for decades, instead of ending up just another cautionary tale.
February 13, 2012 at 12:38 pm #30997DebbiParticipantI am in shock and so sad about this. My heart goes out to her family and especially her daughter. I have loved Whitney and her songs for so long.
RIP Whitney
February 13, 2012 at 2:34 pm #31003BonbonParticipantBut I’m afraid the drugs were probably a contributing factor to her death. If not currently, possibly her past usage. If only these young kids coming up in the entertainment business today would take heed what has happened to so many of them when they start messing with this stuff. But I’m sure it’s the old, "It won’t happen to me" justification. Sad, very, very, sad.
February 26, 2012 at 6:55 am #31379UhSirParticipantI usually feel sorry for the stars and how the media keeps intruding on their lives. With Whitney though I was always hopeful to hear good news and I kept praying for her. I don’t know why, other than her voice was so touching and meaningful to me. The news of her death was a shock for me. I’ll miss her very much.
February 26, 2012 at 12:42 pm #31386BonbonParticipanteven her strong religion didn’t keep her away from the evils of Hollywood. At first I blamed it all on Bobby Brown until it was announced that she was into drugs before she even met him.
It’s also very sad that, IMO, she let her daughter get caught up in the same trap she was in. Drinking with her? Not very good parenting and she’s still three years away from being able to do it legally. Only 18 and already been through rehab? And she’s not even famous. Yeah, I guess you could say she had a lot to deal with but so do all the other kids of stars. I just don’t find that a valid excuse for doing drugs and alcohol.
February 26, 2012 at 2:51 pm #31390caseyParticipantshe was in some years back w/her husband, it put her in a negative light. She wasn’t a very nice person, which was far from the sweet gal she had always been painted. Now I realize some or most could be the elicit chemicals she was on, but when does a person start to take responsibility? If the first rehab doesn’t work then you don’t stop there. Raising a child is numero uno for a parent, and from all I’ve heard of Bobbi K’s problems, Whitney and/or Bobby didn’t make the grade.
