If you do, tomorrow, June 29th, it’s Days on Jeopardy; but, not playing the game but giving visual clues to a certain category or categories. The clue presenters include Joe Mascolo, Bryan Dattilo, James Scott, Kristian Alphonso, Chandler Massey, Christie Clark, Galen Gering, and James Reynolds. Here in Maryland Jeopardy is on at 7:00 p.m. on ABC, which is weird because DOOL is on NBC; but, I suppose it’s okay since both shows are owned by SONY. I’m looking forward to watching, but I watch Jeopardy anyway. I do so well at home, but would probably fall flat on my face if I ever tried out for it. LOL. Obviously, these shows were taped before Alex Tribec suffered his mild heart attack recently.
June 29, 2012 at 10:04 am #34005BonbonParticipantis the Pope Catholic? All my friends and family know, do not call me while Jeopardy is on, even though I now record it. I am a #1 fan of that show and have been since way before Alex was even on it (was it Art Fleming who was the host originally?). I’m such a fan my son bought me a special Jeopardy hand-held device to calculating my betting on.
BTW, Patti, I believe Jeopardy is a Columbia show, not Sony, as per a clue to that effect that was on the show just last night. Since I’m still having problems with accessing certain pages on the internet, I can’t check for sure. But they are syndicated so it doesn’t matter what network they are on. I believe it’s ABC everywhere but may be at different times…7:30 here.
I tried out for the show several years ago and the intitial test is VERY difficult. That’s when you had to go to them and take the test in person where now you can do it online. You got 50 $2,000 questions (at that time they were $1,000 ones) to answer in a very short time and you have to get 80% right just to be eligible to move on to the next step.
Some days I do very well and others I really stink. It just depends on the categories. My biggest problem is being able to "say" the answer. I can see it in my mind but can’t articulate it. But I LOVE it when I know an answer none of the contestants know, especially if it’s the Final Jeopardy…which doesn’t happen very often. And I’m sure when you are there in front of the cameras, it’s probably even harder. Those are some pretty smart cookies that actually make the show.
I’m really looking forward to tonight’s show. You named seven people but there are only six questions in the category. ??? Thanks for the heads-up.
June 29, 2012 at 12:18 pm #34010caseyParticipantLove that show and you learn so much. Never get tired of it and apparently the public hasn’t either after all these years. Will be tuning in tonight.
June 29, 2012 at 2:23 pm #34011PattiParticipantwhich produced the show from 1994-2002; but, from 2002-present the show is produced by Sony Pictures Television, of which Sony Pictures Home Entertainment owns the rights to distribute Jeopardy. Regardless, it’s also my favorite game show and one that I find not only entertaining, but extremely educational. So, I’m really looking forward to combining my favorite soap with my favorite game show tonight.
I noticed that, too, that there were more people than required in a single category, so they are either presenting clues in more than one category, or they could be doubling up in a clue.
June 29, 2012 at 6:46 pm #3401653tdogsParticipantwhat that is…) that doesn’t watch the big J and Alex! I sure hope that he gets better – he’s like a family friend on t.v. every evening just after dinner time. I love it because I learn things on it and keep my brain functioning! I am so amazed at the folks that answer some of those questions!
June 29, 2012 at 9:24 pm #34019bluebonnetParticipantgoing on in my city, but the Days actors weren’t on Jeopardy here today. I didn’t get to watch the first 5-6 minutes of the show, so maybe they were on at the beginning. In fact, the show didn’t have any guest clue givers. I’m thinking maybe they will be on Monday’s show in my city.
June 29, 2012 at 11:29 pm #34022PattiParticipant"Historic Days of Our Lives." They even had the same opening for the show identifying the category, i.e., the hourglass and the words ‘Days Of our Lives.’ It was the last category on the board of the first round, which the contestants left for last. I’m sure they thought it was about a soap opera. It wasn’t and only the first 3 questions got picked before time ran out. It was disappointing to say the least.
June 30, 2012 at 3:16 am #34026DeeLanParticipantWe have Direct TV and don’t get Jeopardy except for the older shows on GSN
June 30, 2012 at 8:40 am #34027BonbonParticipantPractically everyone I know (also "that age" category) watches Jeopardy and I think it’s two-fold. Because of the show (contestants don’t have to act like idiots like on other game shows) and because of Alex. I think he’s just about the nicest and most handsome man. And he sure is smart. Just listen to how easily he pronounces all those complicated foreign names and places, always without a stumble.
I was disappointed too, Patti. Those were horrible questions for being in a soap opera category. They SHOULD have been ABOUT Days of Our Lives History, not WORLD history!!! And we didn’t even get to see the final two answers. Bah! Good try but I give the show (Jeopardy) an A+ for having them on but a D- for the questions they used. It would have been an F- if the other two were as bad.
June 30, 2012 at 1:04 pm #34032DeeLanParticipantI always felt Jeopardy was the most intelligent game show ever and as you said the contestants don’t have to act like idiots.
June 30, 2012 at 1:30 pm #34021PattiParticipantnot only were the "historic" questions ridiculously hard, the contestants left it for the last category on the board, thus only getting to 3 of them before time ran out. They probably thought they would have to answer questions regarding a soap opera. I was sooooo disappointed, and felt bad for our actors, who presented their questions on the actual DAYS sets, using their cast names and intertwining their characters into an actual history question. The three clues presented were from the 14th century, and the actors we got to see presenting were JS and JM (E.J. and Stefano); CM and BD (Will and Lucas), and CC and GG (Carrie and Rafe). I felt bad for the actors, actually, and was pi$$ed at the contestants for not picking the other two before time ran out, so we did not see KA or JR (Hope and Abe). Bah!
June 30, 2012 at 8:42 pm #34036BonbonParticipantyou should also get Jeopardy. (Hey, I made a rhyme!)
July 1, 2012 at 1:31 am #34046DeeLanParticipantYeah, you’d think we would but it’s not showing up on our listings. We never got it when we had Charter Cable, Dish or now Direct TV. Maybe it has to do with the ABC affiliate in our area.
July 1, 2012 at 2:12 am #34047NoraParticipantI was taping it but we were having severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings in our area right around that time, so the weather guy was on instead.
July 1, 2012 at 2:37 am #34048annieoParticipantMy tape was programmed and this horrendous, but short-lived storm came through (Central OH), the electric went out about 5:30 and didn’t come on until today (Sat.) at 5 pm. We certainly needed the 3/4" rain we got, but not quite that forceful!
