It’s a new book by Sherry Anderson and from looking at a few pages in Amazon, it looks like it continues where Belle/Shawn and Marlena/John left Salem. I’m curious to know what you thought of it, if you’ve read it.
November 7, 2010 at 5:52 pm #1786653tdogsParticipantafter they leave Salem? I would read that in a heartbeat! I want J&M back so much! I am still in shock after what is it now two years they’ve been gone. Talk about a big vortex screaming hole left in Salem after they left.
November 7, 2010 at 6:18 pm #17870SWParticipantare still sailing all over the place and I am guessing she’s pregnant again in this book. Marlena’s chapter indicated Zurich, Switzerland and a clinic or health spa type place. If you go to Amazon.com and type in the name of the book, click on the sample chapters, you’ll see what I am talking about.
November 8, 2010 at 12:30 am #17885DeeLanParticipantThe publisher emailed me in September and said I was on the list for an advanced copy last month but never received anything. I didn’t think it was due to be released until the 9th unless they’re taking pre-orders. She’s working on 2 other’s in the series.
November 8, 2010 at 10:14 am #17891SWParticipantNov. 1st and if you order within so many hours, you can have it by Nov. 9th.
November 8, 2010 at 2:44 pm #17900PattiParticipantit just seems that they are so needed now. What a wonderful Christmas miracle that would make. Anyway, I’ll be looking for the book. My sister and I have been watching DOOL for many many years together. We used to come home for lunch when we worked together just to watch DOOL. Luckily I lived about 10 minutes away from my office then. The book will make a great Christmas gift for her.
November 9, 2010 at 8:46 pm #17944DeeLanParticipantI just got an email from the publisher that my copy of the book is on it’s way. It’s been available at Amazon to order with a delivery date of today but didn’t hit the bookstores until today.
I’m reviewing it for a product review site I have so when I’m ready to write it up if anyone that’s read it wants to add to the review I’d love to have other opinions on it as well.

I had a lot of hope since Sherri Anderson created my favorite couples, but it felt like an decent-quality fanfic. The story spent far too much time on what people were wearing, which French hotels or restaurants in Switzerland and Monte Carlo they were going to, and trying to fit the Salemites into this very high-end crowd. Also, for a story supposedly centered on John and Marlena, it seemed far more focused on Shawn, Belle and original character Charley, who is going to be a common thread through all the books and already is bordering on Mary Sue territory.
November 11, 2010 at 1:55 pm #18042PattiParticipantdoesn’t sound like something I would be interested in after all.
November 11, 2010 at 3:21 pm #18050BonbonParticipantIt sounds like the only thing it has in common with the show is the characters. To me, it’s just another run-of-the mill romance novel. I’ve never had any interest in fan fiction either and I think this falls into that category.
No thanks, no interest here either.
November 28, 2010 at 11:18 pm #18549DeeLanParticipantI received my copy from the publisher to review mid week and finished it today. I did enjoy it some but agree it spent too much time on what they were wearing and the details of their surroundings. Maybe that’s because when they write scripts they need to add that for set description, I’m not sure.
It wasn’t our beloved Day’s of Our Lives but it was great having that connection with Doc and John again. Belle and Shawn I couldn’t quite grasp and not too fond of Claire in this. She just didn’t fit the image of that cute little girl who wiggled her way into Robo John’s heart. Abby and Chelsea were in it as well as brief glimpses of Jack and Jen. I did find it ended a bit too quick and happy. I don’t see how anyone except people who are from Salem to get the kind of news they all did and accept it so well without everyone needing a few months or years in deep therapy BUT since I do watch Days and stranger things have happened I’m not dwelling on it too much.
I’ll probably have my review written and posted by mid week so if anyone would like to add to it or would want to input anything I’d be happy to hear it. Heck, I can even give you credit if you want. Maybe a plug for Salem Place while I’m at it.
November 29, 2010 at 9:25 pm #18556SWParticipantI got the book this weekend but have only gotten part way through it as I had other things to do. I did find the constant references to ‘fashion’ and location a little distracting but so far, I am enjoying the story. I’m at the place where Shawn is practically camping out at the hospital which I’m surprised that Belle is so accepting of. It’s interesting to read what ‘could be’ happening while the characters are off screen.
From what I’ve read, this is just the first in a series that will involved Charly. I have to wonder since Days sanctioned this, if we are eventually going to be seeing Charly show up in Salem on the show as time passes. The Sami description certainly fit the old Sami, but hopefully she’ll change for the better. I also wondered if Sherry Andersen has done a lot of European travel or if it’s just a lot of good research. Let me know when you post your review!
